Following the close of filming for "The Ultimate Fighter" season 23, coaches Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha got into a full blown brawl in the middle of the gym and things apparently got pretty nasty.
UFC president Dana White revealed the details about the fight when speaking to FOX Sports on Friday night when talking about the heat between Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha at the "UFC Unstoppable" press conference earlier in the day.
"Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha, the last day of filming when everything shut down got into a full blown fist fight, head kicks, nasty fight in "The Ultimate Fighter" gym. I knew that (expletive) was coming with them," White said.
"You notice when they were both showing each other the water bottles? Joanna Jedrzejczyk hit her with a water bottle and then that's how the fight started. Wait until you see this season of "The Ultimate Fighter" with these two. They hate each other. The stare down in the gym was even crazy before the fight happened."
White says it was the actual face off between the two strawweights that sparked the fight after more than a few words were exchanged in the middle of the Octagon before Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha were separated.
Just pulling them apart didn't work, however, as a few seconds later a fire was ignited and the two top 115 pound women's fighters were launching punches at each other in the gym.
"This was one of those crazy things where the season had ended and everybody was doing their thing and I just didn't expect that to happen," White said. "Well what happened was, when they did the square off, Joanna said 'I'm gonna' and Claudia goes 'shut the (expletive) up (expletive)'. She goes 'I'm so (expletive) sick of listening to your mouth' and they started going at it and I pulled them apart. Then when we broke for the show, they were sitting down on the benches and I could tell. In hindsight, everything's 20/20 so I could see Joanna's (expletive) wheels turning during the thing and she just kept staring at her.
"Then when the room started to clear out, she hit her with a water bottle and then game on."
The worst part about the brawl was that because filming had ended and the rest of the fighters had already exited the gym during the last day the show was shooting, there weren't many stragglers left behind to break up the fight between Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha.
From the sound of things nobody got injured, but White says it was a full blown fist fight with both women out for blood.
"Show's over, cameras are put away, and literally the fighters had gone. The sad and scary part was very few people were left in the gym," White said.
"Her and Claudia don't like or respect each other. So it's just one of those situations with two bad ass, nasty fighters who don't like each other."
It looks like "The Ultimate Fighter" season 23 just got even more interesting.
The new season of the show with Jedrzejczyk coaching against Gadelha debuts on FS1 on Wednesday night April 20 at 10pm ET.
