Malcolm Cyrus ran for 162 yards and three touchdowns and scored the game-winner on a 3-yard run Saturday to give Alabama State a 30-27 comeback win over Division II Stillman.
Daniel Duhart was 17 of 29 for 203 yards for the Hornets (7-5, 6-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference) and threw a 21-yard scoring pass to Earl Lucas for a 7-0 first-quarter lead.
Josh Straughan threw two TD passes for Stillman (5-6, 2-4), which led 13-7 early in the second quarter. Dondre Purnell returned a kickoff 99 yards for a score and scored on a 68-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The Hornets scored on a safety and led 16-13 at halftime after a 1-yard run by Cyrus. Najee Bright intercepted a pass by Straughan to set up a 7-yard TD run by Cyrus, who scored later in the quarter on a 3-yard run for a 30-19 lead.
Stillman turned the ball over on downs on its final drive.
