Cowboys' Ratliff gets 5-year extension

The Dallas Cowboys signed nose tackle Jay year contract extension worth about $40 million on Friday.

Ratliff's deal keeps him in Dallas through the 2017 season, and includes $18 million guaranteed.

He opened everyone's eyes in 2007 when starting nose tackle Jason Ferguson went down for the year with a pectoral injury.

The Cowboys' seventh-round pick in 2005 has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last three seasons. He recorded 31 tackles and 3.5 sacks last year.

Ratliff has recorded 250 tackles, 25 sacks and five forced fumbles in 82 career games, including 63 starts.
