Sao Paulo, Brazil – Andre scored just after the hour mark as Corinthians ended a 14-game undefeated run for Atletico Mineiro with a 1-0 win on Sunday in the Brasileiro in a match both teams finished with 10 men.
Atletico Mineiro last lost on June 17 at Sao Paulo and won 10 times during its unbeaten run. Atletico maintained the top spot in the table, but only on goal differential over Fluminense.
Fluminense extended its undefeated streak to nine matches on Saturday, but its 2-2 draw against last-place Figueirense left it off the top on the tiebreaker. Figueirense rallied on second-half goals from Aloisio and Joao Paulo.
Vagner Love scored his 10th goal on Sunday but Flamengo lost to Internacional, 4-1, as Diego Forlan scored a brace.
Also Sunday, Gabriel scored 20 minutes from time as Bahia beat Sao Paulo, 1-0, to move its undefeated streak to three matches and Felipe Azevedo notched the winner as Sport Recife edged Santos, 2-1. Wellington Paulista scored his ninth goal as Cruzeiro downed Nautico, 3-0, Botafogo downed Coritiba, 2-0, and Ponte Preta beat Goianiense, 3-1.
Also Saturday, Alecsandro and Carlos Tenorio scored as Vasco da Gama snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over Portuguesa and third-place Gremio settled for a 0-0 draw against Palmeiras.
