Conway, AR (SportsNetwork.com) - Central Arkansas football coach Clint Conque is switching schools in the Southland Conference, taking over the head coaching reins at Stephen F. Austin.
Conque is leaving UCA after 14 seasons to move to the rival Lumberjacks. He had a 105-59 record and won three conference championships with the Bears, leading them from the Division II level to the FCS in 2006.
"We appreciate the 14 years Coach Conque dedicated to UCA and Conway. UCA has a longstanding championship tradition, and Clint Conque continued this tradition and led us into our Division I era with great success, and for that we are thankful," UCA athletic director Dr. Brad Teague said in a statement.
UCA finished 7-5 overall and 4-3 in the Southland this season.
At Stephen F. Austin, Conque succeeds J.C. Harper, who was fired last month after his seventh season as the Lumberjacks' head coach. They went 3-9 overall and 1-6 in the Southland this season.
