LEXINGTON, Va. – Desmond Holloway scored 25 points, leading six Coastal Carolina players in double figures, as the Chanticleers routed VMI 109-87 Thursday night.
Coastal Carolina won its 11th in a row, moving to within one of the school record achieved in the 2005-06 and 2009-10 seasons Kierre Greenwood added 18 points, while Danny Nieman and Anthony Raffa each had 13. Mike Holmes added 12 points and 10 rebounds and Chad Gray scored 10 points.
The Chanticleers (13-2, 4-0 Big South Conference) shot 52.9 percent in the first half (18 of 34) and got better in the second, shooting 57.9 percent (22 of 38). VMI (9-6, 2-3) got 23 points from Keith Gabriel and 20 from Stan Okoye, but shot only 41.1 percent (30 of 73) and couldn't keep up.
Coastal Carolina capitalized on its advantage inside, outrebounding the Keydets 52-33.
