London, England – Edin Dzeko scored four goals to help 1, at White Hart Lane.
Samir Nasri was making his City debut and he set up the first two goals for Dzeko in the 34th and 41st minutes before the Bosnian scored his third goal early in the second half.
Sergio Aguero scored on the hour mark to extend the lead to 4-0, while Younes Kaboul pulled a goal back for Spurs before another goal from Dzeko in stoppage time.
Tottenham missed two good chances to take the lead as both Gareth Bale and Peter Crouch missed the net from inside eight yards, and it allowed City to take complete control of the game toward the end of the first half.
Nasri played a one-two with Aguero on the left before crossing to the front of goal for Dzeko to volley home.
The second goal was similar as it was another Nasri cross from the left that found Dzeko, who nodded the ball past goalkeeper Brad Friedel from six yards.
Aguero worked his way past defender Michael Dawson and fired a shot over the head of Friedel and into the net for City's fourth goal, while Kaboul's header from a corner kick provided little consolation for the home side.
Dzeko then scored his best goal of the day in stoppage time with a curling left-footed effort from 20 yards that found the upper-left corner of the net.
Tottenham has now lost its first two games of the season by a combined score of 8-1 after a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United in its opening contest.
Manchester United 8, Arsenal 2
Manchester, England - Wayne Rooney scored a hat trick and Ashley Young added two more goals as Manchester United recorded a stunning 8-2 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Danny Welbeck started the scoring with a goal in the 22nd minute, while Arsenal's Robin van Persie had a penalty kick saved by United goalkeeper David De Gea.
Young scored the first of his two goals one minute later and Rooney fired home a free kick four minutes before halftime to make it 3-0.
Theo Walcott pulled a goal back for Arsenal, but United only made things worse in the second half as Rooney, Nani and Park Ji-Sung each scored within six minutes to make it 6-1.
Van Persie scored 15 minutes from time for Arsenal before Rooney completed his hat trick from the penalty spot and Young added another goal in stoppage time.
United has now won all three of its games to start the season while Arsenal owns only one point from three games.
Newcastle 2, Fulham 1
Newcastle, England - Newcastle continued its strong start to the Premiership season on Sunday at St James' Park with a 2-1 win over Fulham.
Leon Best put the Magpies in front a few minutes after halftime and he doubled the lead with a second goal in the 66th minute before Clint Dempsey tallied his first goal of the season for Fulham.
Newcastle has claimed seven points from its first three games while Fulham has stumbled out of the gate with just one point through three matches.
Stoke City 1, West Bromwich 0
West Bromwich, England - Substitute Ryan Shotton scored in the 90th minute to hand Stoke City a 1-0 win over West Bromwich at The Hawthorns on Sunday.
The Potters had drawn their first two games of the season and appeared to be headed for another as the game entered the final minutes.
However, Jonathan Walters played a ball into the West Brom penalty area that caused a mix up between goalkeeper Ben Foster and defender Gabriel Tamas which allowed Shotton to coast in and fire home the winner.
The Baggies have now lost all three of their games this season by one goal.
