Chivas aims to keep rolling against Montreal

Carson, CA ( - Chivas USA will attempt to continue its good run of form on Saturday against the Montreal Impact at the StubHub Center as the Goats search for a third successive win.

Chivas has won its last two games by a 1-0 score, including a victory at San Jose on Wednesday, with dynamic young forward Erick Torres scoring the winning goal in both matches.

The 21-year-old has now tallied 11 of Chivas' 16 goals this season, and head coach Wilmer Cabrera knows what he has in Torres and how important he has been to the team so far.

"He's a top scorer kind of guy; he's top class," Cabrera said about Torres. "He doesn't get too many opportunities during the game, but if he has one or two, it's good enough. That's where he's showing his quality as the top scorer with 11 goals. Obviously it's a rewarding situation for him, but also for the whole team."

In addition to the scoring exploits of Torres, Chivas has found a way to keep back-to-back clean sheets after failing to record a shutout in its first 14 games of the campaign.

Montreal, meanwhile, is coming off of an impressive 3-0 triumph over Houston last time out, with Jack McInerney scoring twice and Marco Di Vaio adding another goal off the bench.

The three-goal output was the most for Montreal so far this season, and head coach Frank Klopas was certainly pleased to take three points from that game and is hopeful his side can keep some of that momentum.

"A lot of credit to my players," said Klopas after the win over the Dynamo. "The attitude was very good and I think we not only scored the three goals, but I thought we created even more chances. It was also important for us not to give anything away, get the clean sheet and build from this after another good performance."

Montreal has yet to put together back-to-back wins this season, but if the club is going to climb off the bottom of the Eastern Conference, Klopas and his side are going to need to put three points together on a more regular basis.
