Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Kansas City Chiefs released linebacker Joe Mays on Thursday.

Mays was limited to eight games in 2014 because of a wrist injury suffered during the preseason. He finished with 20 combined tackles in three starts in his only season with the Chiefs.

The 29-year-old Mays has played in 69 games (38 starts) in seven NFL seasons with the Chiefs (2014), Texans (2013), Broncos (2010-12) and Eagles (2008-09). His career numbers include 240 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks.
