Paris, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic both scored a pair of goals on Saturday as defending Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint- Germain thrashed Bastia by a 4-0 count at the Parc des Princes to go top of the table.
Coming off a huge 2-1 away win over Marseille at the Velodrome on Oct. 6, PSG wasted little time taking the lead as Ibrahimovic found the back of the net 10 minutes in and quickly completed his double three minutes later to give his club a quick two-goal lead.
PSG poured it on in the second half as Cavani scored two minutes after the hour mark and then converted a penalty in the 89th minute to finish off the rout.
The result sees PSG maintain its unbeaten start with seven wins and a trio of draw to move into first place in Ligue 1 with 24 points, while Bastia remain in 12th place on 12 points.
Also in Ligue 1 on Saturday, newcomers Guingamp earned their fourth win in league play after a 2-1 win over Evian at the Parc des Sports. The hosts took the lead through a goal from Nicolas Benezet 25 minutes in, but Guingamp responded with goals from Thibault Giresse and Ladislas Dounima.
United States international Alejandro Bedoya scored three minutes from time as Nantes edged Ajaccio by a 1-0 count, while Pape N'Diaye Souare scored for Lille in a 1-0 result against Montpellier.
In Saturday's final Ligue 1 tilt, Foued Kadir scored a pair of goals to hand Rennes a 2-0 second half lead, but Valenciennes responded with goals from Anthony Le Tallec and Marco Da Silva to rescue a point.
