Cardiff, England (SportsNetwork.com) - A 62nd-minute header from Steven Caulker was enough to separate the sides as Cardiff City claimed a 1-0 win over Swansea City in the first South Wales derby in Premiership history.

The two old rivals have battled plenty of times outside of the English top flight, but with Cardiff having just earned promotion to the Premiership this season for the first time, Sunday's occasion at Cardiff City Stadium was the first between the teams on such a big stage.

There was no shortage of intensity in the first half, but scoring chances were rare as Swansea managed the lone shot on target through Michu in the first 45 minutes.

Cardiff had hardly troubled the Swansea net when the hosts made the breakthrough shortly after the hour mark as Craig Bellamy drove a corner kick to the front of goal that was headed home by Caulker from seven yards.

Swansea pushed for an equalizer without too much success, and visiting goalkeeper Michel Vorm was sent off in stoppage time when he left his penalty area to challenge Cardiff's Fraizer Campbell, who was fouled by Vorm as he beat the netminder to the ball.

Everton 0, Tottenham 0

Liverpool, England - Everton and Tottenham both missed out on a chance to move into second place on Sunday as the two teams played to a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park.

A win for either side would have taken them into second place behind Arsenal, but neither team was able to make the most of its advantage with Tottenham controlling the first half while Everton was the better side after the break.

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard was kept busy in the first half and he needed to make saves to deny both Kyle Walker and Sandro, while Roberto Soldado missed a good chance when he headed wide from Aaron Lennon's cross.

The Toffees enjoyed the majority of the possession in the second half but failed to find the net with Romelu Lukaku glancing a shot narrowly wide from a few yards.
