Pittsburgh, PA – St. Louis Cardinals utility man Skip Schumaker left Friday's game in Pittsburgh after crashing into the center field wall in the bottom of the first inning.
Schumaker was tracking a flyball off the bat of Pittsburgh's Alex Presley. The ball went off his glove as he collided with the wall, leaving him down on the field as Presley crossed the plate for an inside-the-park home run.
Erik Komatsu took over in center field for Schumaker, who was making his season debut after being activated off the 15-day disabled list earlier on Friday to fill Lance Berkman's vacant roster spot.
Schumaker had been sidelined since mid-March with a torn right oblique muscle he suffered during an at-bat in spring training.
