Capitals get Glencross from Flames for picks

Arlington, VA ( - The Washington Capitals acquired veteran forward Curtis Glencross from the Calgary Flames on Sunday in exchange for a second- and third-round pick in this year's draft.

Glencross, 32, has nine goals and 19 assists in 53 games this season, his ninth in the NHL.

He waved a no-trade clause to facilitate the deal.

"Curtis is a player we coveted and we are pleased that he decided to waive his no-trade clause to join our team," Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan said in a statement announcing the deal. "We felt we needed to get deeper and more experienced at the forward position. Curtis plays important minutes and his presence on-and-off the ice will benefit our young forwards."

Glencross has been with the Flames since 2008 and played for Anaheim, Columbus and Edmonton before that. He has 130 goals and 138 assists in 489 career NHL games.
