EDMONTON, Alberta (Reuters) - Daniel Sedin made the game-winning tip-in in overtime as the Vancouver Canucks won 3-2 to hand the lowly Edmonton Oilers a heart-breaking ninth straight loss Wednesday.
Looking to break their poor spell, Edmonton struck first on the night with a Sam Gagner wrister in the opening period. Alexandre Burrows put the Canucks on the board seven minutes later before Sheldon Souray restored the lead for the home side at 2:10 in the second.
Roberto Luongo made 31 saves for the Canucks (29-18-2), who moved into sole second place in the Northwest Division.
