Kellen Dunham scored 18 points for a Butler team that shot a school-record 71.9 percent in a 99-57 victory over Maine on Saturday.

Roosevelt Jones added 14 points, Andrew Chrabascz 13, Kelan Martin 12, Austin Etherington 11 and Kameron Woods 10 in the season-opening win. The Bulldogs made 41 of 57 shots.

Butler's field-goal percentage set a school single-game record. The previous record was 69.7 percent set in 1993.

The Bears made only 21 of 54 attempts for 38.9 percent.

Shaun Lawton scored the game's first basket for Maine's only lead. With 3:35 left in the first half, the Bulldogs used five points from Dunham to spark a 9-0 run to go ahead 43-24 before Zarko Valjarevic made three free throws for Maine just before intermission. A 10-0 run to start the second half put Butler in firm control.

Valjarevic and Aaron Calixte led Maine with 12 points each.
