UNLV's Bryce Dejean-Jones scored 23 points Wednesday to lead UNLV to a 76-73 win over New Mexico.
The game turned early when Cameron Bairstow, who finished with 27 points, went to the bench with two fouls and 14:24 remaining. That set up UNLV (11-6, 2-2 Mountain West) for 20-3 run behind two 3-pointers from Kevin Olekaibe, ending with a 28-12 Rebels advantage.
New Mexico (12-4, 3-1) slowly got back in the game, closing to 74-73 with 1:24 left after Bairstow dropped in two foul shots. But with 30 seconds left he missed a baseline jumper with a defender in his face.
Olekaibe then hit two from the line with 26.8 seconds left.
The Lobos' had three chances to tie the game, including a clean look by Cullen Neal on the final play, but the ball hit and rim and bounded away.
