Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson left Wednesday's game against the Buffalo Sabres after taking a vicious hit to the head.
In the third period, Eriksson was skating through the neutral zone and had just passed the puck when Buffalo's John Scott laid a hit on Eriksson that included a shot to the head.
Eriksson needed assistance to get off the ice and was taken to a local hospital, where we will remain overnight under observation.
"Loui is staying overnight in Buffalo for precautionary reasons," said Boston general manager Peter Chiarelli. "He is expected to return to Boston on Thursday."
Scott was give a major penalty for charging along with a match penalty and another major for fighting Adam McQuaid after the hit.
