Berea, OH – Cleveland Browns linebacker Chris Gocong suffered an Achilles injury during a Saturday practice session.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, it is suspected to be a ruptured right tendon and Gocong will have an MRI exam later Saturday to determine if its severity means he will be lost for the season.
Gocong was hurt while defending a pass. Upon completion of the play, which did not involve any contact, he planted and grabbed the lower area of his right leg, then fell to the turf in obvious pain, the paper reported.
The 28-year-old posted 70 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks in 16 games -- all starts -- last season, his second with the Browns.
