Browns' Gordon arrested for DWI

(SportsNetwork.com) - Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is in trouble again.

The 2013 All Pro, awaiting an appeal for a possible one-year suspension from the NFL, was arrested early Friday morning in Raleigh, N.C. on suspicion of driving while impaired.

Cleveland television station WKYC was the first to report the news, which the Raleigh police department later confirmed to NFL.com.

According to police reports, Gordon was arrested and booked into the Wake County Detention Center at approximately 4 a.m. ET on Friday. The three-year pro also received a ticket for speeding in a 35 mph zone.

Gordon is scheduled to have a hearing with the NFL later this month in regards to a failed drug test, which previous reports indicated was for marijuana. The troubled wideout was suspended for the first two games of the 2013 season for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

Despite missing those two games, Gordon still led the NFL with 1,646 yards on 87 catches during a breakout campaign, setting Browns season records for receiving yards and 100-yard receiving games (7) as well as a new NFL mark for most yards receiving over a four-game stretch (774).

Browns general manager Ray Farmer issued a statement on the matter on Saturday.

"We are aware of the matter and are disappointed to learn of this situation," Farmer said. "We will comment further at the appropriate time."

Gordon has been beset by off-the-field problems since his college days, having been dismissed from Baylor for a failed drug test in the summer of 2011. He was selected by the Browns in the second round of the following year's supplemental draft.
