The Atlanta Braves activated starting pitcher Brandon Beachy from the disabled list Monday and placed starting pitcher Paul Maholm on the 15-day disabled list.

Beachy will make his first start in more than a year against the Colorado Rockies Monday after undergoing Tommy John surgery to repair a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

Beachy was 5-5 with a major league-best 2.00 earned run average in 13 starts before suffering the injury last June.

The left-hander Maholm, who left his last start due to a bruised left wrist, has gone 9-9 with a 4.41 ERA over 20 starts for Atlanta this year.
