St. Louis Blues veteran forward Jason Arnott will have surgery to have a cataract removed from his right eye.

The 36-year-old is only expected to miss one week. St. Louis begins its regular season on October 8 against Nashville.

Arnott has appeared in 1,172 career games over 17 years in the NHL, recording 904 points, 400 goals and 1,216 penalty minutes. He ranks sixth among active players in career games and seventh in points while scoring 20 or more goals in 12 seasons.

A Stanley Cup winner with New Jersey in 2000, Arnott played in 73 games between the Devils and the Washington Capitals last season, totaling 31 points.
