Blue Jackets place Matt Calvert on injured reserve, replace him with Alexander Wennberg

The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed left wing Matt Calvert on injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 24 and recalled center Alexander Wennberg from their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Calvert, who has a goal and an assist in seven games this season, is expected to miss one week with an upper-body injury.

The 20-year-old Wennberg, the club's first pick and 14th overall in the 2013 draft, had just been sent down to Springfield over the weekend when defenseman Ryan Murray returned after missing the start of the season with a knee injury.
