London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Daley Blind's goal two minutes into stoppage time allowed Manchester United to salvage a 1-1 draw against West Ham at Upton Park on Sunday, moving the Red Devils one point clear of fifth-place Tottenham.
Cheikhou Kouyate struck early in the second half for the hosts, who had numerous chances but failed to add to their lead thanks to some strong play in goal by United netminder David De Gea.
And with time ticking down, a headed clearance by West Ham defender Carl Jenkinson fell straight into the path of Blind, who volleyed the ball just inside the right post to snatch a point for his side.
West Ham was the more dangerous outfit in the opening half and De Gea needed to be in top form to keep out a shot from Enner Valencia before stopping a header from James Tomkins with his legs.
After a scoreless 45 minutes, the Hammers finally breached the United defense in the 49th minute when the visitors failed to clear a ball from inside their own penalty area, allowing Kouyate to flick the ball up to himself and score on the turn.
Robin van Persie set up Radamel Falcao with a great chance in the 79th minute, but the Colombian scuffed his effort comfortably wide with goalkeeper Adrian in a bad position.
Van Persie tested Adrian himself a few minutes later, but his effort was repelled by the legs of the netminder, keeping West Ham in front.
De Gea came United's rescue again with a fine stop on Mark Noble, and Blind capitalized on his chance in the closing minutes to give his side a point.
Burnley squandered a two-goal lead against West Bromwich as Ashley Barnes and Danny Ings each scored in the first 32 minutes, only to be pegged back by tallies from Chris Brunt and Brown Ideye for the Baggies.
Newcastle also gave away two points in its match with Stoke City as the Magpies took a 1-0 lead in the 74th minute through a goal from Jack Colback, only to see Stoke's Peter Crouch score the equalizer in the 90th minute of a 1-1 draw.
