Russian winger Igor Makarov has signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.

One day after making a major move at goalie by letting playoff star Antti Niemi go and signing Marty Turco, the Stanley Cup champions locked in one of their prospects.

A second-round draft pick by Chicago in 2006, the 22-year-old Makarov split last season with the Moscow Dynamo and St. Petersburg SKA of the Kontinental Hockey League. He had five goals and four assists in 51 games.
