The Buffalo Bills released veteran cornerback Drayton Florence on Friday.
The 31-year-old Florence started all but one of the 46 games he played for Buffalo over the last three seasons. In 2011, he recorded 50 tackles and three interceptions, one of which returned for a touchdown in Buffalo's Week 3 win over New England.
Bills general manager Buddy Nix cited the team's influx of youth for parting ways with Florence.
"We have some good, young talent at the cornerback position that has tremendous upside," he said. "They need to take as many of the reps at practice as they can to continue to develop that talent."
The Bills selected South Carolina cornerback Stephon Gilmore 10th overall in last week's NFL Draft.
