Orchard Park, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone announced Friday that rookie quarterback EJ Manuel has an LCL sprain that will not require surgery.

Marrone expects Manuel to return in a few weeks. In the meantime, the Bills will look "outside the organization" for another QB.

Manuel left Thursday night's game against the Cleveland Browns with a right knee injury.

With the game tied 17-17 midway through the third quarter and the Bills facing a 3rd-and-8 at the Cleveland 27-yard line, Manuel eluded pressure and escaped along the left sideline for a 14-yard gain.

He was hit in the right knee by Browns safety Tashaun Gipson as he was going out of bounds. Manuel immediately clutched at his knee, but walked off the field under his own power.

Fellow rookie Jeff Tuel came on in relief and completed 8-of-20 passes for 80 yards and an interception.

The 16th overall pick in this year's draft, Manuel has connected on 85-of-150 passes for 985 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions in five games.
