Bengals re-sign WR Tate
Cincinnati, OH – The Cincinnati Bengals have re-signed wide receiver/kick returner Brandon Tate.
Terms of the deal for the unrestricted free agent were not disclosed.
Tate, a five-year pro, spent the past two seasons with the Bengals. He caught 13 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown over 16 games last season.
The North Carolina product is used primarily as a kick returner, where he averaged 24.8 yards on 32 kickoff returns in 2012. Tate also averaged 8.9 yards on 21 punt returns last season.
"Brandon has excellent tools, especially great speed, and he can continue to help us on both on offense and special teams," said Bengals special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons in a statement. "He's a hard worker and a good team player. We're glad to have him back."
Tate was originally selected in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by New England, where he spent his first two seasons.
