Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu and Croatian qualifier Donna Vekic won their respective semifinal matches Friday at the Tashkent Open.
Begu upset second-seeded Urszula Radwanska of Poland 6-3, 6-3 to secure a spot in her third career final, while Vekic outlasted Czech Eva Birnerova, last year's Tashkent runner-up, by a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 margin to reach the first WTA-level title match of her career. Birnerova lost to Russian Ksenia Pervak in last year's finale here.
The 16-year-old Vekic is the youngest player to reach a WTA final since 2006 when Austrian Tamira Paszek, at the age of 15, titled in Portoroz.
The 22-year-old Begu is 0-2 in her career finals, with both losses coming last year.
The winner of this $220,000 event will collect $37,000.
