Greenville, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - East Carolina announced Sunday it has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2013 Beef O'Brady's Bowl.
The Pirates, who will be making a seventh bowl appearance in the past eight years, will face an opponent yet to be determined in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl, which will be held at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Dec. 23.
"While it is an honor to compete in the Beef O' Brady's Bowl, the opportunity to take our team and Pirate Nation to the Tampa-St. Petersburg area will make this trip even more exciting," said Pirates head coach Ruffin McNeill. "We're looking forward to the challenge of accomplishing a 10-win season, something that has only been done once in the history of our program, and allowing a special group of seniors a chance to play for a bowl championship."
East Carolina went 9-3 overall during the regular season and finished second to Marshall in the East Division of Conference USA with a 6-2 mark in league play.
