Lake Forest, IL – The Chicago Bears made it official on Friday, placing defensive tackle Henry Melton on the injured reserve list due to a torn knee ligament.
Bears coach Marc Trestman said on Monday that Melton would miss the remainder of the season because of a torn ACL suffered in Week 3's 40-23 win at Pittsburgh.
The 26-year-old Texas product didn't have a sack this season after totaling 13 over the previous two years. He started 32-of-48 career games played for Chicago, collecting 71 tackles, 15.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and nine tackles for losses.
To replace Melton on the roster, the Bears signed defensive tackle Landon Cohen.
Cohen has appeared in 27 games with five starts with Detroit (2008-09), Jacksonville (2010), New England (2010-11) and Dallas (2013), recording 32 tackles.
