The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with year contract on Sunday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Meriweather was the Pats' first-round selection in the 2007 draft out of Miami-Florida, and was named to the Pro Bowl in each of the last two seasons.

The 27-year-old played in 64 games (40 starts) over his four-year pro career, racking up 263 tackles, 12 interceptions -- including one returned for a score -- along with four forced fumbled and two sacks. That apparently wasn't enough for the franchise to keep him around.
