In the 12th inning of the 1970 All-Star game, Pete Rose bowls over Ray Fosse at home plate to score the deciding run in a 5-4 National League victory at Riverfront Stadium. In a tribute to Ripken shortstop Alex Rodriguez swapped positions with third baseman Ripken so that Ripken could play shortstop as he had for most of his career.
