MIAMI (Reuters) - The St. Paul Saints, a minor league baseball team in Minnesota, are to temporarily change their name as a gesture of support for the Vikings, who face the New Orleans Saints in the NFL playoffs on Sunday.
The team said in a statement on their website that they had responded to a campaign by a local radio station and would be known as "The Paul" until after Sunday's NFC Championship game.
The Vikings, led by 40-year-old quarterback Brett Favre, face the Saints in the Louisiana Superdome on Sunday with a place in the Super Bowl at stake.
St. Paul also said they would wear special jerseys featuring simply "The Paul" during a regular season game next year.
