Barbosa leads Evian to first win

Evian collected its first win of the season on Saturday as Cedric Barbosa scored two goals in a 3-0 win over Bastia at the Parc des Sports.

Barbosa scored shortly after the half-hour mark when he got on the other end of a cross from Kevin Berigaud to send a diving header past goalkeeper Magno Novaes.

Bastia nearly responded a few minutes later when Toifilou Maoulida saw his shot strike the post, but the home side came on strong in the final 20 minutes to seal the win.

Yannick Sagbo played a one-two with Kevin Berigaud, and after taking the return pass, he slotted his shot past Novaes to double the advantage.

Bastia had to be disappointed after doing some good work and not getting any reward, and Barbosa wrapped up the win in the 78th minute when he tallied his second goal of the game with the visitors pushing men forward.

Troyes 1, Lille 1

Troyes, France - Troyes is still looking for its first win but the club at least claimed a point on Saturday as substitute Sebastien Grax scored in the 88th minute to help his team snatch a 1-1 draw against Lille.

A first-half goal from Dimitri Payet had Lille in position to earn its second win of the campaign, which would move the team into the top half of Ligue 1.

However, the Lille defense failed to clear a cross from Stephane Darbion two minutes from time, allowing Grax to fire the equalizer past goalkeeper Mickael Landreau.

Nice 4, Brest 2

Nice, France - Nice scored four times in the second half on Saturday to secure its first victory of the campaign, 4-2, over Brest.

After a sluggish first 45 minutes, Camel Meriem put Nice on top in the first minute of the second half, while Nemanja Pejcinovic doubled the advantage a few minutes later.

Eric Bautheac had the ball in the net for Nice in the 67th, while Jonathan Ayite finally had a reply for the visitors 12 minutes from time.

The two teams then traded goals in stoppage time as Valentin Eysseric hit the net for Nice, while Paul Baysse provided a consolation goal just before the final whistle.

Sochaux 1, St Etienne 0

Saint Etienne, France - After losing its first four games in Ligue 1, Sochaux got off the mark on Saturday with a 1-0 win over 10-man St Etienne.

The match couldn't have started worse for St Etienne as the team went down to 10 men just 10 minutes into the contest when Jonathan Brison received his marching orders for a poor challenge on Sochaux's Abdoul Camara.

It was always going to be difficult for the home side from there, but they were able to hold out only until the 75th minute.

Thierry Doubai found room inside the penalty area and lashed a shot into the roof of the net from 12 yards, which was enough for all three points.

Valenciennes 0, Bordeaux 0

Valenciennes, France - Bordeaux maintained its unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 season, but failed to produce a goal at Valenciennes as the two sides played to a 0-0 draw.

Bordeaux had the first chance of the game when a low shot from Benoit Tremoulinas skimmed the outside of the post, but Valenciennes was unfortunate not to take the lead before the break.

Rudy Mater's first-time volley was well struck and had goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso easily beaten, but it crashed off the crossbar and was as close as either team came to scoring.
