AZ Alkmaar claimed its third win in 0 triumph at Groningen.

AZ earned a 4-0 victory over NEC last time out, and the club picked right back up again on Sunday with Nick Viergiver scoring in the opening minute of the match when he tapped in Brett Holman's corner kick.

Groningen picked up its play after conceding the early goal but a lack of finishing cost the hosts as Johann Berg Gudmundsson doubled AZ's lead in the 79th minute with a nice run that ended with a right-footed shot finding the top corner of the net.

Rasmus Elm capped the scoring six minutes from time with a well-struck free kick that sailed past goalkeeper Brian van Loo.

PSV Eindhoven 6, Excelsior 1

Eindhoven, Netherlands - A hat trick from Dries Mertens propelled PSV Eindhoven to a 6-1 win over Excelsior on Sunday, giving PSV its third straight victory.

Mertens scored on the half-hour mark for PSV but had his goal canceled out by one from Excelsior's Mitchell Te Vrede.

However, PSV scored five goals after the break to run away with the game as Mertens scored two more goals, with Ola Toivonen adding two and Jeremain Lens scoring another.

Excelsior has lost three of its first four games and sits on the bottom of the league table with one point.

Feyenoord 2, Heerenveen 2

Rotterdam, Netherlands - Heerenveen held out for a 2-2 draw with Feyenoord on Sunday as the club played the final 11 minutes of the match with nine men.

A penalty kick from Bas Dost put Heerenveen in the lead, but his goal was canceled out seven minutes later by Leroy Fer for Feyenoord.

Oussama Assaidi restored the lead early in the second half before Jerson Cabral pulled Feyenoord level again.

Ramon Zomer was sent off in the 64th minute for Heerenveen, with Doke Schmidt also seeing red in the 79th.

Feyenoord has claimed eight points from four games while Heerenveen collected its second point of the campaign.

Den Haag 3, De Graafschap 0

Doetinchem, Netherlands - Den Haag snapped a two-game losing skid on Sunday with a 3-0 win at De Graafschap.

Aleksandar Radosavljevic put Den Haag in front on the stroke of halftime before the home side was reduced to 10 men 13 minutes from time as Purrel Frankel was sent off.

Den Haag took advantage with goals from Wesley Verhoek and Mike van Duinnen in the final seven minutes for a comfortable finish.
