Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Astros acquired right-hander Anthony Bass from the San Diego Padres in a trade that didn't immediately involve any other players.

In the deal, announced Wednesday, the Astros will send either a player to be named later or cash considerations to the Padres in exchange for Bass and either a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Bass, 26, threw 42 innings in 24 appearances out of the bullpen this past season with a 5.36 earned-run average, 31 strikeouts and 20 walks.

In 75 career games for the Padres, including 18 starts, he is 4-8 with a 4.08 ERA, 135 strikeouts and 80 walks. He made 15 starts in 2012.
