Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics acquired pitcher Eury De La Rosa from the Arizona Diamondbacks for cash considerations on Thursday.
In 25 games with Arizona last season, De La Rosa went 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA. The 24-year-old left-hander allowed just two home runs in 36 2/3 innings and held right-handed hitters to a .233 batting average.
De La Rosa is 2-1 with a 4.21 ERA in 44 career appearances over two seasons with the Diamondbacks.
The Dominican native began the 2014 season at Triple-A Reno and compiled a 2.52 ERA and .224 opponents batting average in 36 relief appearances with the Aces before he was promoted to Arizona on July 5.
To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A's designated pitcher Fernando Rodriguez for assignment and also released pitcher Jorge De Leon, who was designated for assignment Dec. 9.
