Mychal Ammons scored 18 points Saturday night to lead South Alabama to a 69-57 victory over North Texas in Sun Belt Conference play.

The Jaguars (16-10, 13-5) avenged an earlier 66-56 loss at North Texas (11-19, 6-13).

Ammons, who was 8-of-13 shooting, got scoring help from Antoine Allen (12 points) and 10 points each from Javier Carter and Wendell Wright. Wright, who came off the bench for his 10, was 6 for 6 at the foul line, which helped prove decisive.

So did Augustine Rubit's 15 rebounds and Antoine Allen's three 3-pointers. South Alabama was only 4 for 17 on treys, but North Texas hit just 1 of 11 from long range.

The Jaguars also made 15 of 16 free throws. North Texas was just 10 of 21 at the stripe.

Tony Mitchell had an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double for North Texas. Alzee Williams scored 15 points.
