Alkmaar, Netherlands – Jozy Altidore led AZ Alkmaar to a 4-0 win over Roda on Sunday as the American scored a hat trick to give him seven goals on the season.
Altidore tallied his first goal in the 13th minute before Erik Falkenburg doubled the lead for AZ just before the half-hour mark.
The lead was stretched to 3-0 before halftime when Altidore netted his second goal, while he capped the scoring and completed his hat trick 25 minutes from time, giving AZ its second win this season.
PSV Eindhoven sustained its second defeat of the campaign, losing 1-0 at Utrecht despite the home side having two players sent off.
Anouar Kali received a red card in the 69th minute for Utrecht, but the hosts still managed to take the lead three minutes later through Davy Bulthuis.
And PSV played the final nine minutes of the match up two players as Utrecht's Alexander Gerndt also received his marching orders, but the visitors were unable to take advantage.
Vitesse also had success despite losing a player to a red card as Jan-Arie Van Der Heijden was sent off on the half-hour mark for Vitesse, yet the team scored three times in the second half to beat Groningen, 3-0.
The other match on Sunday saw Heracles score twice in the last 10 minutes to beat NAC, 2-1.
Alex Schalk scored in the 14th minute to put NAC ahead, but Willy Overtoom equalized in the 81st before Everton scored three minutes into stoppage time to claim the win for his side.
