Ajax signs goalkeeper Cillessen from NEC

Ajax acquired goalkeeper Jasper year contract.

Cillessen, 22, was a member of the Netherlands international team for June's matches against Brazil and Uruguay but did not make an appearance, and will provide competition for current Ajax No. 1 Kenneth Vermeer.

"I think it will be an exciting battle with Kenneth Vermeer over who will become first-choice goalkeeper. We will both have to do our best to become No. 1," Cillessen said, according to UEFA's website.

Vermeer has been with Ajax since 2005, but has only played for the Netherlands at two youth levels.
