Ajax loses De Jong to thigh injury

Amsterdam, Netherlands – Ajax midfielder Siem de Jong could 4 loss against Utrecht over the weekend.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury after just four minutes and had to be substituted, and he will now miss a crucial trip to Lyon in Champions League Group D play with Ajax leading the French side by three points in second place.

De Jong has featured in all of the group stage matches for Ajax in the competition, and he has scored two goals in nine league appearances for the Amsterdam side this season.

The club may also be without midfielder Theo Janssen for the next two weeks as the 30-year-old is battling a hamstring problem.
