When Adrian Peterson crashed into the end zone from 2 yards out to give the Minnesota Vikings a first-half lead over the visiting San Diego Chargers on Sunday, it was the 2012 NFL MVP running back's first score in 22 months.
Peterson spent 15 games last season on the exempt/commissioner's permission list after being indicted in a child-abuse case in Montgomery County, Texas, in September. Peterson was officially reinstated by the NFL in April.
Peterson's comeback started out slow with only 10 carries for 31 yards in a Week 1 loss to San Francisco.
In Week 2, Peterson put up a lot of yardage (134 rushing, 58 receiving), but the Lions were able to keep him out of the end zone in a 26-16 Vikings victory.
