Scott Vernon and Ryan Jack scored to help match winless streak with a 2-1 win over St. Johnstone on Tuesday at McDiarmid Park in the Scottish Premier League.

Vernon scored his seventh goal of the season after 13 minutes with a shot to the bottom left from 6 yards, and Jack added an important insurance goal with a blast from well outside the area to the lower right in the 79th.

Andrew Considine was sent off 4 minutes after Aberdeen's second goal, but the struggling side held on despite a late goal from St. Johnstone's Marcus Haber.

Aberdeen used the win to climb to ninth place, three points off the bottom of the standings. It was even with Hibernian and Dunfermline on 14 points for the lowest total in the league, but has now played one more game than those clubs.

St. Johnstone lost its second straight match, but remained fourth in the table on 26 points.
