FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – Santonio Holmes insists he's not completely healthy yet, and his surgically repaired left foot still hurts every day.
But the New York Jets wide receiver has shown he still has plenty left, putting up a career-high 154 yards receiving Sunday against Buffalo — including the go-ahead 69-yard touchdown — and re-establishing himself as an important piece of the offense.
While Holmes rehabilitated from the injury that sidelined him most of last season and put his career in jeopardy, coach Rex Ryan repeatedly said he hoped he'd play at some point this season. Ryan everyone now sees why, and that Holmes is a "legitimate No. 1 receiver."
Holmes has come a long way from just a few months ago, when he said he was still trying to re-learn how to walk.
