Jim Renner fired a 6-under 65 on Friday to grab a share of the lead through two rounds of the Colombia Championship.

Bhavik Patel shot 66, while B.J. Staten and D.J. Brigman both turned in 67s to join Renner atop the leaderboard at 8-under 134 through 36 holes at the Country Club of Bogota's Fundadores Course.

Renner made the largest move of the current co-leaders, leaping 26 places with his bogey-free round.

"It's been a little scrappy at times," said Renner. "I've cleaned up nice around the hole so far this week. I've been putting pretty well and I haven't been in too many difficult places out there."

Patrick Cantlay (68), Steve Wheatcroft (69), Edward Loar (69) and Shane Bertsch (70) share fifth place at 7-under, while David Lipsky (66), Ryan Spears (66), Michael Putnam (68), Roger Sloan (68) and Alexandre Rocha (70) are all a shot back.

Overnight leader Danny Lee couldn't match his opening-round 64, instead stumbling to a 74 on Friday and a tie for 21st place at 4-under. The 22-year- old, who tied for 13th at the PGA Tour's Sony Open in Hawaii in January, is hoping to regain full time status on that circuit after an underwhelming rookie campaign in 2012.

Kevin Foley, the winner of last week's season-opening Panama Claro Championship, is 2-under through 36 holes.

Defending champion Skip Kendall missed the cut at 6-over. The veteran was looking to become the first player in Web.com Tour history to successfully defend his title.

"I'm just not firing on all cylinders," said Kendall. "It feels like my lower half is disconnected from my upper half. I'm disappointed I won't be in the mix this weekend and have a chance to defend my title here in Bogota."

The 29-year-old Renner began his round with a trio of pars before picking up a shot on the par-4 fourth. He added another birdie on No. 8 to close his outward nine at 5-under, then turned the trick again on the 10th.

Another trio of pars followed for Renner, who then highlighted his round with three consecutive birdies starting at the 14th. He closed with back-to-back pars to share the clubhouse lead with Patel, Staten and Brigman.

"The big key is not going over these greens," continued Renner. "Just over is jail. Sometimes you have to take your 30- or 40-footer and be happy with it as opposed to hitting it over and being only 10 feet away from the flag and have all sorts of problems."

Lee started his round in the afternoon at the 10th tee and was tied for the lead at 8-under through 12 holes, but he faltered with a double bogey on the fourth and followed that misstep with a bogey on the fifth. Another dropped shot on the ninth moved Lee to 4-under.
