Week 9 in the NFL had plenty of heart-stopping moments, and now it's time to salute the statistical standouts who made them happen on Sunday. Featured this week are one of the league's most explosive offensive weapons, a young quarterback who had his coming out party and a wide receiver with perhaps a season-saving performance.
Antonio Brown, wide receiver, Pittsburgh Steelers
Antonio Brown produced over 300 yards of offense for the Steelers in their thrilling, 38-35 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. He reeled in 17 receptions, setting a new franchise record with 284 receiving yards (he also had a rush for 22 yards). Although the Raiders seemed to have no solution for Brown, they somehow managed to keep him out of the end zone. With the outstanding performance in Week 9, the sixth-year wideout eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards for the season.
Marcus Mariota, quarterback, Tennessee Titans
Marcus Mariota had perhaps his finest outing as a pro, as his four touchdown passes lifted the Titans to a 34-28, overtime victory against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. The rookie quarterback was precise, completing 28 of his 39 pass attempts (71.8 percent) for 371 yards. He avoided throwing away a close game by going wire to wire without an interception. Mariota's best throw of the day was probably his last one, which he lofted to tight end Anthony Fasano in the end zone for a five-yard touchdown to win the game in overtime.
Sammy Watkins, wide receiver, Buffalo Bills
The Bills picked up a 33-17 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, thanks in large part to Sammy Watkins' contributions. Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor only attempted 12 passes, and Watkins caught eight of them for 168 yards. No other receiver caught a pass for Buffalo in Week 9. He had two explosive plays: a long reception of 63 yards and a 44-yard touchdown catch. Watson helped keep the Bills' playoff hopes alive with his big performance against a divisional opponent.
