Spencer Pratt unites with Karen Bass' brother to sue the LA mayor over Palisades fire destruction

Spencer Pratt continued his plight to save Los Angeles only days after conceding in the mayoral race against incumbent Karen Bass.

Pratt, 42, gave the public nod of approval to the LA mayor's brother, Kenneth Bass, who last month sued the city, state, and additional agencies as part of broader legal action filed following the deadly Palisades fire.

"I am proud to be teaming up with Karen Bass' brother in suing his sister for her reckless negligence that led to the destruction of our homes," Pratt posted on X Saturday.

"I hope their Thanksgiving dinner isn't too awks. I know ours hasn't been the same since last year ... "

Kenneth and his wife, Cindy, claimed to suffer physical injuries and emotional distress as a result of the fire, which destroyed their Malibu home.

Kenneth and a handful of new residents joined the initial Palisades Fire Litigation suit, which was filed against the City of Los Angeles days after flames ripped through the beach-side community, according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the state of California, the California Department of Parks and Recreation and Southern California Edison are also included as defendants in the suit.

"There's nothing new here — Mayor Bass has spoken of her brother's loss publicly since January of 2025," a representative for the mayor said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

"Thousands of people are plaintiffs in this action, which names 18 public and private sector defendants. The City Attorney's Office is responsible for defending the City and DWP in this lawsuit."

In his own January suit, Pratt accused LADWP of making "the conscious decision to operate the water supply system with the reservoir drained and unusable as a 'cost-saving' measure" during the deadly LA fires, according to the lawsuit obtained by Fox News Digital.

Pratt representatives did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

"The Hills" star recently conceded in the LA mayor race after finishing in third place behind Bass and council member Nithya Raman.

"You think you can get rid of me that easily? I know a lot of dimwit jerks thought I was in this for a grift, that I was gonna roll up and leave town if I didn't get into City Hall. Hey morons, I didn't get in this for political power. I got in to expose this corrupt machine, and nothing has changed."

Last month, Pratt vowed to leave the city if he didn't make the ballot.

During a chat with fellow Los Angeleno Adam Carolla from his burned-out lot in the Pacific Palisades, the reality star said that he's only interested in rebuilding his home if he wins the race.

"I’m going to win the lawsuit against Gavin Newsom’s state park, and with that money, if I’m the mayor of Los Angeles, I will rebuild," Pratt confessed.

"If Karen Bass gets re-elected or Nithya [Raman] gets elected, I will be done with trying to live in LA."

Pratt doubled down on his threat, and said when he wins the lawsuit, he's packing up to find a new American Dream.

"I’ll take that money from the Newsom state park and the LADWP, and I’ll go somewhere that my kids will not have to see naked zombies, and I can have the last American dream somewhere," Pratt said.

Former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt posted a fiery video on social media teasing his plans for "Phase III" of his effort to clean up the city and teasing information he has that could force one of the candidates still in the race to resign if elected.

"I'm moving on to the next more interesting phase. Listen, I spent a lot of time slaying everybody. I've ridiculed everyone on the roster," Pratt posted on Instagram after finishing third in the mayoral race earlier this month, following a strong election night performance that suggested he’d finish in the top two and move on was eventually erased by a surge in mail-in votes over the next week.

Now that he is not a candidate, Pratt says that he doesn’t have to "worry about offending CNN viewers" and doesn’t have a "campaign hamstringing me now."

"It's war," Pratt said. "It's zero hour for Los Angeles. Angelenos are now stuck with two morons responsible for all their problems and they have to choose between dumb and dumber. That's not a choice. That's the machine protecting the machine. And now every problem that plagues Los Angeles because of these two corrupt communists is going to accelerate."

Pratt then floated a claim that a video recording in his possession could rock the political landscape in the city, but that he is waiting until the city makes its final choice in November between current Mayor Karen Bass and progressive councilwoman Nithya Raman.

"My goal hasn't changed, I've been laser-focused on stopping these commie animals, and I will stop them if you think we uncovered a lot of fraud and evil in the campaign, just wait," Pratt explained, "We have some recordings of one of your exalted candidates doing insane something that would make her resign in shame I was saving it for the general election go ahead and pick your demon certify your choice and then you get to see it."

Pratt asked Raman and Bass to "ask yourself" is it "possible one of your employees may have a recording of you doing or saying something they would force you to resign in disgrace?"

Pratt then sarcastically told both candidates he hopes they "sleep well at night" over the next five months, unlike his mother and all the others who lost their homes in the devastating wildfires under Bass' watch last year as well as the moms who are subjected to the homelessness and crime issues facing the city.

Pratt painted a grim picture of what the city will look like in four years, regardless of which of the "corrupt communists" left in the race wins in the November election.

"You have no idea how many major developers, hoteliers, business owners, entrepreneurs have been texting me saying they're packing up and leaving town," Pratt said. "More of your favorite restaurants will be shuttering. That means less tax revenue. That means the city has to cut services. More potholes, less firefighters, less police patrols, more criminals, more drug addicts terrorizing your communities. You have no idea how bad things are about to get for this city."

The video ends with a clip from the TV show Ozark, suggesting that if the political establishment wants to "stop him," they are "gonna have to f------ kill me!"

Fox News Digital reached out to the Bass and Raman campaigns for comment on the video, which racked up over 20,000 likes within 45 minutes of being posted.

California GOP gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton said the Golden State has a "chance for change" as he advances to the November ballot after securing a spot in the general election.

Hilton, a conservative commentator and former Fox News host, will face Democratic candidate Xavier Becerra in the general election.

"The good news is that we're going to have a chance for change in November, a new direction instead of another four years of the insanity," he said Tuesday on "The Ingraham Angle."

"So very happy, but we’ve got work to do to turn this state around, but I'm excited. It's a great night," he told Fox News host Laura Ingraham.

The California gubernatorial race has garnered widespread attention as candidates across the aisle fight to succeed term-limited Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Becerra, who served as secretary of Health and Human Services during the Biden administration, has an advantage over Hilton come November given that California has roughly twice as many registered Democrats as Republicans.

Hilton, who is backed by President Donald Trump, summed up his gubernatorial campaign with a simple message: "Change is coming."

Hilton’s campaign has focused on criticizing Democratic leadership, especially Gov. Gavin Newsom. He has raised concerns about the state’s high cost of living, the homelessness crisis and high taxes.

Hilton described Pratt, a former reality television personality who lost to progressive candidate Nithya Raman, as "the kind of energy" conservatives need when campaigning.

"He made such an incredible impact," Hilton said. "It's an absolute travesty that Los Angeles as a city won't have the same choice that the whole state will have. He laid out incredible plans."

"He had incredibly strong, substantive policies, especially on homelessness, which I said at the time, 'That's exactly what we need — not just in LA, but statewide,'" he added.

Democrat-dominated California uses a jungle primary in which all candidates, regardless of party affiliation, appear on the same ballot and the two top finishers advance to the general election.

Spencer Pratt’s independent bid to make the Los Angeles mayoral runoff hangs in the balance nearly a week after Election Day.

With the jungle primary leaving incumbent Democrat Mayor Karen Bass already ruled to have advanced to a November runoff, Pratt's margin over Democrat City Councilmember Nithya Raman has slimmed to just 1% with a few thousand ballots left to make up the difference.

Pratt led Raman by just 7,494 votes in the latest AP elections tally with 78% of the vote counted to date. Bass remained in first place with 235,180 votes (34.8%), while Pratt had 184,596 votes (27.3%) and Raman had 177,102 votes (26.2%).

Los Angeles County continues to count ballots postmarked on or before Election Day and received by Tuesday, June 9, drawing the attention of the Republican National Committee. The election results must only be counted within 30 days and certified by July 10.

"The California primary ended on June 2, 2026; yet California is still counting ballots," the RNC website tracker counting the seconds since polls closed reads.

"The state’s election system is a complete joke. The RNC is tracking every hour it takes California to finish the count."

The latest ballot update gave Raman another boost, as she picked up 23,514 votes in the latest batch, more than double Pratt’s 10,336-vote gain. That cut Pratt’s lead by 13,178 votes in a single day and pushed the contest for second place into uncertain territory.

Pratt posted a meme to X decrying the ongoing ballot count in the race.

"Me trying to figure out how votes get counted in LA," he wrote Saturday night.

Under California’s top-two primary system, if no candidate wins more than 50% of the votes, the two highest vote-getters advance to the general election. The AP reported that Bass advanced to the runoff after finishing first in the crowded mayoral primary, while Pratt and Raman continued battling for the remaining November spot.

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., pointed to California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom when discussing the delayed results.

"The question to the rest of the world is what happened to California elections? Well, I'll tell you, it's Gavin Newsom," McCarthy told Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures." "When Gavin Newsom was elected governor of California, you knew who was elected in a day to two days. Now it takes more than weeks, almost a month."

"Why did we get here?" McCarthy continued. "Gavin changed a number of election laws in which you want to see is what did he do and why did he cause it?"

The slow count has drawn heightened attention because later-counted ballots have steadily cut into Pratt’s lead.

Longtime Democrat strategist Michael Trujillo told The California Post on Saturday that the trend pointed to a likely runoff appearance for Raman, calling the late ballot counting "normal" for California and telling critics to "go back to where you came from."

"I was always a little jealous of east coast elections getting so much attention in the media and on this app, yeah nevermind," he wrote on X. "The stupidity from these out of state analysts and reporters and the bots and fake accounts it brings to what is really a very NORMAL process happening in Los Angeles and California is annoying.

"Go back to where you came from, thanks."

Conservatives on X are decrying the probability of Pratt being shut out of the runoff.

"Spencer Pratt is likely going to be overtaken by far left Nithya Raman today," Robby Starbuck wrote on X. "This graph shows the count on Election Day through last night. "Nithya did this by suddenly winning 1st in every new ballot drop.

"North Korean 'elections' have more self respect. Even they’d find it absurd for 3rd to suddenly jump to 1st place in every ballot drop DAYS after an election. It’s just ludicrous."

That post also brought the attention of X owner Elon Musk.

"The reason ID is banned in California (and New York) elections is to enable large-scale fraud," Musk claimed on X, replying to Starbuck's post. "When you combine no ID and mail-in voting, fraud is de facto legalized."

Starbuck noted the historic run Raman's count has made.

"ChatGPT can’t find a single example of a 3rd place candidate surging, days AFTER Election Day, to overtake 2nd place," he wrote Sunday morning. "It couldn’t find 1 example in all of American history. That’s what’s happening with Nithya Raman & Spencer Pratt.

"Los Angeles has 3rd world country elections."

Democrats merely point back to an overwhelming edge in registered Democrat voters versus Republicans, even if Pratt is running as an independent.

"IF SOMETHING CAN BE EXPLAINED BY A CONVOLUTED CONSPIRACY THEORY—OR SIMPLE MATH—THEN MATH ALWAYS WINS," Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., wrote on X. "LA Registered Voters. Approximate number of Dems: 1,224,737 Approximate number of Republicans: 326,292."

RNC RAILS AGAINST CALIFORNIA'S LATE MAIL-IN BALLOT COUNTING AMID NATIONAL LITIGATION: 'IT IS ABSURD'

Americans "want to see election integrity," McCarthy told host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday.

"They want to see transparency and they want to see timely reporting: We had that in California," McCarthy, a former Republican House member in the deep-blue state, said. "We were very liberal in the rules about absentee ballots, but we had accountability."

"We had cut off voter registration 30 days before the election. That helps the registrars to know who's going to vote and the candidates," he continued. "Now we have same day voter, and you don't have to show ID. Gavin changed the rules where he mails ballots to everyone. So he took away the choice to Californians to vote in person or to vote absentee. Everybody gets mailed a ballot. But he didn't clean up the rolls. So that raises doubt in people's minds."

McCarthy noted Raman's Election Night disappointment was originally telling.

"When you look at the LA mayor's race, the third place person gave it like a concession speech that night and cried, and she was getting the most votes in the last drop," McCarthy said. "So if she didn't even believe that she could move up, that puts in question to the whole election itself. And that's why it brings doubt to people."

President Donald Trump had weighed in, too, with the RNC pointing to the pending Watson v. RNC Supreme Court decision on late ballot counting due soon.

He studied political science at USC

Long before launching a mayoral campaign, Pratt earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Southern California (USC) in LA.

After graduating from high school, Pratt enrolled as a political science major at USC in 2003. Pratt left college to pursue television projects which led to his career in reality TV. In 2011, he enrolled again at USC to finish his degree and graduated in 2014.

Pratt's supporters, including Brody, have previously pointed to Pratt's degree when critics dismissed him as "just a reality star."

Reality TV fame made Pratt a household name

Pratt's reality television career began in 2005 with Fox's short-lived series "The Princes of Malibu," a series he co-created and executive produced that followed Brody and his brother Brandon Jenner's lives in Malibu.

Brody and Brandon's mother, songwriter and actress Linda Thompson, and their stepfather at the time, Grammy Award-winning musician David Foster, also starred. In May, Foster and his wife Katharine McPhee hosted an exclusive, star-studded fundraiser at their Brentwood Park home for Pratt's mayoral run.

Pratt also made appearances in "The Princes of Malibu," which was canceled after one season.

He later became a household name after he began dating "The Hills" star Heidi Montag in 2006. At the time, Montag was starring alongside Port, Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge in the show, which premiered in May 2006.

Pratt joined "The Hills" during its second season in 2007, where the couple's relationship quickly became central to the show’s drama.

Pratt, who has previously spoken out about how he carefully cultivated his "villainous" TV persona for attention, quickly became a disruptive presence, often clashing with Conrad and the existing friend group.

While appearing on the show, Pratt and Montag teamed up to become the reality TV power couple known as "Speidi." "Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I’m done waiting for someone to take real action. That's why I am running for mayor.

"But let me be clear. This just isn't a campaign," Pratt added, via the BBC. "This is a mission, and we are going to expose the system.

"We are going into every dark corner of LA politics and disinfecting the city with our light."

Celebrities who have expressed opposition to Pratt's run include Jimmy Kimmel, Drew Carey, Jane Fonda, Chelsea Handler, Lisa Rinna and Yvette Nicole Brown.

He's running on quality-of-life issues

After President Donald Trump praised Pratt last month, the former reality star explained that he was not seeking endorsements from politicians.

"I don’t need anyone’s endorsement but mothers’. That’s who’s getting me elected," he told NBC News. "My race is a local race. I don’t care what’s going on in the national politics, in other states. I am running for a local position."

Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel mocked Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt on Wednesday night’s show, and the former reality TV star responded by bringing up one of Kimmel’s most embarrassing controversies.

Pratt is one of the contenders attempting to replace incumbent Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Pratt, 42, has been a vocal champion for LA residents since losing his home during the deadly 2025 Palisades wildfire. He launched his mayoral campaign in January with a focus on ousting Bass due to her alleged mishandling of the LA fires.

"It could take a while for Democrats here in Los Angeles to figure out which of their friends secretly voted for Spencer Pratt," Kimmel quipped, riffing on California taking a long time to tally votes in recent elections. In response, Pratt replied by sharing an image of Kimmel’s now-infamous moment when the talk show host wore blackface during "The Man Show" in the early 2000s, most notably while impersonating former NBA star Karl Malone.

Kimmel has apologized for this skit in recent years, saying he intended for it to be just another celebrity impression.

"We hired makeup artists to make me look as much like Karl Malone as possible. I never considered that this might be seen as anything other than an imitation of a fellow human being, one that had no more to do with Karl’s skin color than it did his bulging muscles and bald head," he said in a past statement to Fox News.

Former reality star Spencer Pratt’s lead over Councilwoman Nithya Raman in the Los Angeles mayoral contest narrowed Thursday, while Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton maintained a lead over Democratic candidates Xavier Becerra and Tom Steyer.

Following the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, California’s key elections have taken on national significance, serving as critical testing grounds for the future of progressive leadership.

Pratt, a registered Republican, remains behind incumbent Democratic Mayor Karen Bass for a chance to advance to the November general election. Bass has already secured enough votes to advance.

With 163,549 votes in Los Angeles' latest tabulation, Pratt maintains a near 6% lead on Raman, who has 130,473 votes, according to the Thursday vote count from Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder and the County Clerk.

A Fox News Digital review of an archived version of Los Angeles' official vote tally shows that Raman gained over 10,000 votes in the latest count compared to under 6,000 for Pratt. At the previous count, Pratt had 157,116 votes compared to Raman's 119,809.

Billionaire Democrat Tom Steyer trails both with 1,139,517 votes.

Like the mayoral race, if no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes in the gubernatorial race, the top two candidates will advance to a November runoff.

While California's polls closed on June 2, it could take weeks for results to be final. The state did not have its official final results from the 2024 election until state Secretary of State Shirley Weber certified the election results in December, 38 days later.

A bipartisan bill has since passed in 2025 requiring "non-problematic" votes to be counted within 13 days.

The state leads the nation in mail-in ballots, with 81% of voters sending their choices by post in 2024, nearly double the national average of 43% for 2024, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Bass, who has led the city since 2022 amid a turbulent stretch rocked by her response to wildfires, advanced to a runoff after failing to secure a majority of the vote in Tuesday's primary election. With no candidate surpassing the 50% threshold, the top two finishers will face off in a November runoff.

The anticipated runoff is a symbolic blow to Bass, who was endorsed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., and former Vice President Kamala Harris and has spent decades serving California in a series of elected Democratic offices.

Pratt, a first-time candidate known for the MTV reality show "The Hills," was running in second place as of Wednesday morning.

"Obviously, God wanted five more months of me exposing the failures of our mayor," Pratt gloated to reporters as the returns came in Tuesday evening.

The insurgent candidate holds Bass personally responsible for devastating wildfires that destroyed more than 18,000 structures in the city, including his Pacific Palisades home.

Pratt's surge appears to have shut out Los Angeles City Council member Nithya Raman, a former ally of Bass who challenged the incumbent from the left and was once viewed as a threat to her bid for a second term. Raman is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and has argued for steering the city in a more progressive direction.

Raman has not yet conceded despite running well behind Bass and Pratt as of Wednesday morning.

Pratt, a registered Republican, faces an uphill battle to defeat Bass in November if he advances to the runoff election.

Less than 20% of voters in the heavily Democratic city identify with the GOP, though Los Angeles’ mayoral contest is officially nonpartisan.

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., who represents a San Diego-anchored seat, told Fox News Digital that Pratt has won a following in the mayoral contest due to widespread voter discontent with Bass’ leadership.

"He's catching fire among ardent historic Democrat voters because Karen Bass has been so ineffective," Issa said in an interview. "And every time she opens her mouth, she's talking about more of the same to people who have seen their streets, both crime-ridden and in fact … ineffectively managed."

Bass, conversely, argues that her leadership is leading Los Angeles in the right direction.

"Los Angeles is at a turning point. After decades of rising homelessness, under-built housing and a shrinking police force, it’s Mayor Karen Bass who finally stepped up to change how City Hall works," Bass’ website reads.

Pratt first rose to fame on MTV's reality show "The Hills" alongside his wife, Heidi Montag.

This year he launched an unconventional bid for Los Angeles mayor as a registered Republican, running as an independent, in the city's open primary election.

After eating at the restaurant, Pratt praised the food and contrasted his visit with a recent stop by incumbent Democratic Mayor Karen Bass at another one of the soul food restaurant's locations.

"I saw Mayor Bass enjoyed a different Roscoe's. Still good," he snubbed. "I don't think she ate anything. I think she just had a soda and a photo op, but I wanted to actually go experience the LA City Roscoe's."

Asked what he ordered, Pratt replied: "I had waffles and chicken. It was incredible."

Last month, Pratt revealed his plans to crack down on homelessness involved a simple change of location.

"These people have been bussed in by scam rehabs, scam NGOs, scam homeless nonprofits," Pratt told local ABC reporter Josh Haskell while outlining his vision for tackling the city’s homelessness crisis.

"These people, when I unplug them and say we're not taking our tax money anymore, they're all going to Seattle where the mayor will welcome them."

Local dancer and Los Angeles native Leonardo Flores stressed the importance of voting, but admitted he wasn't too familiar with Pratt as a politician or a reality star. However, he supports ousting Mayor Bass.

"I'm not a big fan of Karen Bass, so I'd be down to see her switched out," Flores said. "I don't know what platform Spencer Pratt is prioritizing."

Flores noted that the housing crisis and soaring cost of living in Los Angeles are the top concerns of Angelenos.

"There's also a homelessness crisis as well, here in Los Angeles. There are people who are unhoused and they need to be housed, and that makes the city unsafe.

Mayor Bass and the City of Los Angeles launched the Inside Safe program in December 2022 to combat homelessness. Since its inception, the city has spent more than $300 million on various initiatives to clean encampments and offer interim housing programs.

Yani Gavaldon told Fox News Digital that she wasn't too familiar with Pratt, but wasn't against his decision to try to improve his city.

She added, "He might have an appearance on TV and he might be very different in person. So yeah, I would say why not ... anybody who feels like they represent LA I think would be a great candidate."

"It's about passion and someone that cares, someone that knows how to build relationships, and I think that's all that is needed when it comes to running our city."

"The Hills" star, along with wife Heidi Montag and more than a dozen additional property owners, blamed the city of Los Angeles and the Department of Water and Power (LADWP) for causing damages to their homes in a lawsuit filed earlier this year.

Plaintiffs accused LADWP of making "the conscious decision to operate the water supply system with the reservoir drained and unusable as a 'cost-saving' measure" during the deadly LA fires, according to the lawsuit obtained by Fox News Digital.

Stewart Kilgore told Fox News Digital that Pratt was a viable candidate simply through shared life experiences.

"I know he doesn't have any political background, but I think you can learn that as you go," Kilgore said.

"I think the people that are in place now that have all the education in the world still couldn't I guess facilitate what needed to be done correctly. And I think anybody in any given race, creed or what have you can make things happen or not happen."

He added, "Get some priorities straight. Take care of the place. I know that we have a homeless problem that's gone crap. You know, that's ... That's been going on forever."

Steven Jenny wasn't as impressed with Pratt's demeanor, whether on camera or during campaign rallies.

"I think, for the amount that I've heard him talk, I've heard little of what he says he's going to do," Jenny told Fox News Digital.

"He's mainly just throwing shade on the other ones, which I get is easy to do, but if you're going to say, 'Hey, it's a mess with this person in,' you should also say why it won't be a mess if you're in,' other than just trust me."

Jenny noted he didn't love any of the candidates running, but would still be sad if Pratt made it on the November ballot.

During an interview with Fox News Digital, Grammer spoke briefly about the Los Angeles primaries, which take place on June 2. "He's the only guy that's a real option," the award-winning actor said.

"We know what the rest is gonna do," Grammer added.

The Los Angeles mayoral primaries are the first stage of the city’s mayoral election, where voters choose among multiple candidates in a nonpartisan race. Incumbent Mayor Karen Bass faces Pratt and Nithya Raman.

"My older ones are past, you now, past cashing in on this idea, but it's a great idea. It empowers young people to actually get in the game," he continued. "They talk about financial literacy. Doug Ellin, creator of the hit series "Entourage," is backing Spencer Pratt's campaign for mayor of Los Angeles while voicing his frustration over what he sees as the city's decline.

Last week, the television producer took to social media to share his personal experience living in L.A., detailing a home break-in that forced him to increase his security.

"[I have] fifteen cameras … two German Shepherds, three legal guns … five years ago, I didn't lock a door here, but you know what happened? Two animals invaded my house," Ellin said in the video posted to Instagram. "And no, I'm not racist because they were wearing masks... I know they were animals because they invaded my house. I know I don't care what their excuses are, like a lot of you f---ing care."

Brin gave Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt a maximum donation of $1,800 on May 27, according to municipal campaign finance records. Other big names in tech making contributions to the mayoral hopeful include Palantir’s chief technology officer, SpaceX’s director of solar production, a communications executive at TikTok, the co-chairman and co-founder of Riot Games, Activision Blizzard former CEO and the Winklevoss twins.

Pratt is a registered Republican running in Los Angeles’ nonpartisan mayoral race.

The Google co-founder’s donation may be unsurprising to some, as recent reports indicate that he has somewhat soured on California Democrats over their push for an additional tax on billionaires. Brin has also praised the Trump administration for its approach to artificial intelligence by thanking the president for "supporting our companies instead of fighting with them."

Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who first gained notoriety for accusing Meta co-founder Mark Zuckerberg of stealing their intellectual property to create Facebook, have since pivoted to cryptocurrency and broader tech investment and, as of 2024, have become major Republican donors.

Joining the Winklevoss twins in throwing their support behind Trump in 2024 were tech-focused venture capitalists such as David Sacks, Marc Andreessen, Chamath Palihapitiya, Sequoia Capital partner Shaun Maguire and Shervin Pishevar, as well as Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest man.

Tech was previously one of the chief antagonists of Trump’s movement, with the president’s supporters accusing the industry of suppressing their speech and manipulating information to benefit the Democratic Party – as with the suppression of the New York Post’s reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop.

In recent years, tech leaders have enjoyed private dinners with Trump both in the White House and at Mar-a-Lago, with some, such as Sacks and Musk, securing formal roles within his administration.

While records do not indicate that Musk has financially supported Pratt’s campaign for mayor, the billionaire has been a vocal supporter of him on social media.

Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt seized on comments from Mayor Karen Bass about resistance within the homelessness system, arguing the remarks lend credence to his belief that some individuals and organizations have benefited from a crisis that continues to plague the city.

Speaking on "Saturday in America," Pratt responded to previous comments from Bass claiming that internal forces in government have resisted homelessness reform.

"The NGOs that are stealing billions of our tax money to increase drug addicts naked on our sidewalks. She's complicit," Pratt said of Bass. "So I believe maybe that's the only honest thing she's ever said in the fact that, yes, they're all criminals."

The controversy stems from a CNN interview with Bass at the St. Vincent Behavioral Health Campus, a former hospital slated to become a mental health and housing facility. Pressed on why she has failed to meet her promise to end homelessness by 2026, Bass blamed internal resistance.

Pratt seized on the comment, accusing the current administration in Los Angeles and its partners of being resistant to reform because they are "profiting off of these poor souls."

"The mayor and these NGOs let seven of them die on the sidewalk a day in their own feces. So, yeah, these people are evil," Pratt added.

Pratt announced he was running for mayor in January after gaining support for his comments following the Palisades Fire, which destroyed his home in 2025. The former reality star has gained traction for his viral campaign ads following his debate performance.

The spokesperson, Alex Stack, added, "His complaint is blatantly false. There were two locations filmed for this video, one 200-plus feet away from the ballot box (with signs) and one next to the ballot box (no signs)."

In Pratt’s complaint, his attorney, Peter McNulty, calls for Bass to be investigated by the city for "illegal electioneering," adding that because of the "seriousness of the issue" a similar complaint had been filed with the state.

Pratt, who originally rose to fame as a reality star on "The Hills," has been receiving a lot of attention for his move to politics. He's running for mayor of Los Angeles, with his campaign gaining quite a bit of steam, and "Hacks" star Hannah Einbinder spoke out against him at an event Friday.

"There’s a lot of wealth in this city and I think that there are a lot of people who masquerade as Democrats or people on the left, but really, money is their key issue and that’s what leads them to vote for people like Spencer Pratt — who is endorsed by Donald Trump, and I will remind everybody of that," she told Variety.

"So, yeah," she added. "It's important to resist that."

Pratt reposted a video of her comments on X, writing, "She says from a literal red carpet, surrounded by armed security, completely insulated from the horrors on our streets that Angelenos and their kids have to suffer through every day."

He continued, "I’m glad she doesn’t have to suffer the consequences of Karen and Nithya’s failures, but she’s in an elite minority and the rest of us want change."

It's not the first time Pratt has taken the time to address celebrity criticism of his campaign. Earlier this week, when Lisa Rinna said that the next mayor of Los Angeles shouldn't be a "reality star," he was quick with a comeback.

"Hey Lisa, if you're against me because I was on a TV show in my 20's, wait til you learn what Karen Bass was doing in her 20's..." he wrote on X while sharing an edited video of an interview he did with Fox 11.

"[Bass] was in Cuba learning how to make bombs with the people that would then go bomb Capitol Hill," Pratt said in the video. "So, if we're looking at backgrounds, I'm pretty proud of what I was doing at 20 on reality television. Even though I may not have been the most likable character, it was still TV versus trying to destroy America and going to Cuba 20 times and praising Fidel Castro."

He's racked up endorsements from fellow reality stars as well as famous actors, musicians and media personalities.

Despite a growing list of high-profile supporters, Pratt said in an interview on "Gutfeld!" Thursday that celebrity endorsements are not a priority for his campaign.

"I actually don't want celebrities to come out and endorse me," he said, adding the only endorsements he wants are from "the moms and the animal lovers in LA."

Fox News Digital breaks down the biggest names fueling Pratt's rise in the second-largest U.S. city ahead of the June 2 primary.

1. Joe Rogan

During an April 15 episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience," Rogan told Pratt he would vote for Pratt if he could.

Rogan relocated from Los Angeles to Austin, Texas, in 2020. Still, he told Pratt, "If I lived in Los Angeles, no question whatsoever, I would vote for you."

2. Adam Carolla

Comedian and radio personality Adam Carolla has repeatedly endorsed Pratt.

On an April 21 episode of "The Adam Carolla Show," Pratt outlined his plans to "bring back common sense" to City Hall, and Carolla later wrote on Instagram that Pratt had his "full endorsement for mayor!"

Carolla describes himself as a libertarian and supported Andrew Yang's Democratic primary run in the 2020 presidential election.

3. Dennis Quaid

The actor endorsed Pratt's mayoral bid during a May 23 exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, saying, "Go Spencer Pratt."

Quaid has previously criticized LA Mayor Karen Bass for traveling to Ghana as the wildfires erupted. The actor was critical of city leaders over water shortages, budget cuts to the Los Angeles Fire Department and the broader response to the wildfires.

6. Billy Bush

"Hot Mics" host Billy Bush threw his support behind Pratt after the mayoral debate on May 6. Many were surprised at how well Pratt fared and started taking him seriously as a candidate after his showdown with his two Democrat competitors.

Bush said Pratt "won that debate flat out" and called him "relatable" and "likable" during an appearance on "Jesse Watters Primetime" earlier this month.

He added that the Republican candidate running as an independent doesn't represent "MAGA" but does appeal to people who have "had enough of mismanagement in our government."

7. Meghan McCain

Meghan McCain, conservative commentator and daughter of late Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain, wrote on X that Pratt's debate performance was "the blueprint" for how "older millennials need to communicate and present their ideas and campaign messaging when running for office."

McCain described Pratt as "10/10 no notes" and echoed Bush and other supporters when saying he "killed the debate" performance.

8. Katharine McPhee & David Foster

Singer Katharine McPhee and her composer and record producer husband David Foster hosted a star-studded fundraiser for Pratt at their Brentwood Park home.

Video went viral of McPhee serenading Pratt at the event.

"Spencer, you're simply the best. Better than all the rest. Better than Karen Bass and Nithya Raman," she sang to the tune of Tina Turner's hit "The Best."

McPhee was also listed among the celebrity donors backing Pratt's campaign.

9. Kristin Cavallari

Pratt's former "The Hills" co-star Kristin Cavallari said on the April 21 episode of her "Let's Be Honest" podcast that his mayoral run is "f---ing genius."

She praised the registered Republican as an outsider who will "call out the corruption."

While she can't vote for Pratt as a Tennessee resident, Cavallari encouraged Los Angeles voters to cast their ballots for him in the June 2 election.

10. Brody Jenner

Brody Jenner, the son of Caitlyn Jenner who co-starred with Pratt in "The Princes of Malibu" and "The Hills," was one of the candidate's earliest supporters.

He defended Pratt's intelligence and qualifications in an Instagram story post after he announced his run for mayor.

Jenner said Pratt has "the backbone to stand up to career politicians."

11. Audrina Patridge

Another fellow reality TV star, Audrina Patridge, said she was "impressed" by Pratt after listening to his interviews.

Pratt "would make a lot of change to LA, and he would follow through with what he said," she told Us Weekly in an interview earlier in May.

The "Dancing With the Stars" alum, like many who have backed "The Hills" reality star, cannot vote for Pratt because she lives in Orange County and not LA proper.

"The Real Housewives of Miami" star publicly endorsed Pratt after appearing with him at a dog adoption event at The Barkery Encino.

In an Instagram video posted after the event, Krupa said she showed up to support Pratt "because this isn't about politics anymore. It's about real change," adding "this isn't about Democrat or Republican."

14. Heather McDonald

Actress and comedian Heather McDonald publicly endorsed Pratt following the mayoral debate, writing on X, "Watching @spencerpratt in the mayoral debate! Let's go, Spencer!"

15. Nick Viall

"The Bachelor" star publicly supported Pratt shortly after he announced his mayoral campaign on Instagram.

He wrote, "You have my vote," in the comments section.

Spencer Pratt’s sister Stephanie Pratt is now supporting her brother’s campaign for Los Angeles mayor months after claiming a vote for him was a "vote for stupidity."

"I admit I was the first person to tell people that they were idiots if they voted for my brother," Stephanie Pratt told Vanity Fair in an email related to a profile on him.

She added, "Wow, was I wrong. He has spent every day since the fires finding the facts, the mistakes, the negligence, and uncovering the truth that they never wanted us to know."

In February, in a series of since-deleted X posts, she wrote, "Spencer has done great work for the palisades. But LA does not need another unqualified and inexperienced mayor. A vote for him is a vote for stupidity."

She continued, "He's just trying to stay famous and sell his memoir don't be fooled."

Stephanie mused over an "ideal world" where the Palisades received their own "mayor and police department" but was more concerned with the current issues plaguing Los Angeles.

"I'm worried about LA. I have no problem playing government but our city needs help," Stephanie wrote.

"Everyone saying I should support him no matter what. Sorry he beat me up when I was 18 & put me in the hospital. So no he doesn’t belong in the government. Run the palisades all you want not LA," Stephanie wrote on X.

She added, "Leopards never change their spots. Stay in the palisades Spencer."

Spencer Pratt launched his candidacy in January, on the one-year anniversary of losing his home in the Palisades Fire.

Since then, he has gained traction in the polls, establishing himself as an anti-establishment candidate.

With less than a week before the primary in which the top two vote getters advance to the general election unless one person gets more than 50%, recent polls show a tight race between Pratt, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and L.A. City Council member Nithya Raman.

Other high-profile supporters include Paris Hilton, Dennis Quaid, Katharine McPhee and David Foster.

Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt is name-dropping some A-list celebrities who are allegedly in his corner.

During an interview with Us Weekly, the former reality TV star — who announced his candidacy in January — opened up about his newfound purpose and why he believes certain celebrities are backing him.

"I don’t name-drop, but I had two of my favorite people ever support me. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx both said, ‘Please, Mr. Mayor, we want these streets safe again.’ If their reps try to deny this happened, I have multiple witnesses. It was an out-of-body experience," he said.

Fox News Digital understands that DiCaprio has not publicly or privately endorsed any candidate.

A representative for Foxx did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Earlier this year, Pratt opened up to Fox News Digital about the private endorsements he's allegedly received from multiple celebrities.

Paris Hilton backed Pratt with a simple comment.

Pratt uploaded a video showing himself giving a tour of the Airstream trailer where he now lives, parked amid the rubble of his Pacific Palisades property after it was destroyed in the L.A. fires.

"Spencer for Mayor," Hilton wrote, adding a raised hands emoji.

During Wednesday's episode of Fox News' "The Story with Martha MacCallum," Billy Bush backed Pratt as well.

Other stars have called out the former reality TV star, including Chelsea Handler and Drew Carey.

During an appearance on "Today" in April, former "Hills" co-star Lauren Conrad — who famously feuded with Pratt for years — quickly sidestepped whether she would vote for him.

"I'm not a resident of Los Angles," said Conrad, who was promoting the upcoming reunion of "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County" at the time.

"If I’m not gonna get elected mayor because I never apologized to LC, I’ll take that," Pratt, who feuded with Conrad for years, recently told Vanity Fair. "So you can put that in bold… people can die on the streets because LC got paid millions because I boosted our show and I took the fall as the full villain, and she got to be the poor damsel in distress."

Of his mayoral run, Pratt told Us Weekly he never thought he'd be here.

"I truly never imagined I would actually probably [become] the mayor. I just wanted somebody to [tell] the truth, and I wanted to have that platform as a candidate against [Bass] to get the truth. You can just get away with lying if you don’t have somebody saying that’s not true."

"The interactions I have with people are what continue to drive me," he added. "It doesn’t matter if I have all these viral videos — [it’s about] what I feel from people in the streets around L.A. That energy shows me how much support [I have]."

Los Angeles mayoral candidate and former reality TV star Spencer Pratt revealed in a new interview that Jesus Christ would top his list of political role models.

During an interview published Wednesday, CNN's Elex Michaelson asked Pratt, "Who is your political role model?"

Pratt, a Republican who launched his campaign for mayor in January to unseat Democrat Karen Bass, responded, "Jesus Christ."

Michaelson smiled, and then asked Pratt, a former star on "The Hills," if there are any modern politicians he views as role models.

"No, I'm not a politician," Pratt said. "I don't want to be a politician. I want to be a fighter for the people."

Pratt then acknowledged that he is "the most similar to Obama."

Speaking about the interview with Pratt afterwards, Michaelson said that Pratt meant that he was the most similar to former President Barack Obama because "they are both community advocates."

Asked by Michaelson what word separated him from his competitors, Pratt responded, "Truth."

Pratt and his wife Heidi Montag lost their home in the Pacific Palisades in the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, which destroyed thousands of homes across the area. The fires, and Bass' alleged mismanagement of what happened in their wake, were drivers in Pratt's decision to run for mayor.

While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, President Donald Trump wished Pratt well in his race against Bass.

"Oh, I'd like to see him do well. He's a character," Trump said.

The primary for the mayoral race is June 2. If, as expected, no candidate in the crowded contest surpasses 50 percent of the vote, the top two finishers will advance to the general election in November.

While its mayoral position is officially nonpartisan, Los Angeles has not had a Republican mayor since Richard Riordan from 1993 to 2001.

In an exclusive interview with the "Ruthless Podcast" released on Tuesday morning, Los Angeles mayoral candidate and former reality star Spencer Pratt spoke of the growing dissatisfaction with the city’s political leadership. The litany of angry residents includes the biggest names from Hollywood’s most influential set.

"The list of mind-blowing movie stars, directors, studio presidents, these are my supporters," Pratt said in the interview. "I understand why they aren’t public-facing yet. Once I’m mayor, the support I’ll have for the industry to bring it back. It’s all there."

Pratt has received donations from countless prominent celebrities, including former Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, Doug Reinhardt, who was a fellow cast member on "The Hills," and Lauren Conrad’s ex, and Jeff Jenkins, who produces "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives."

The interview came just days after Pratt went viral on X for an advertising campaign attacking Bass for her lackluster response to the 2025 Palisades Wildfires. In the wake of the devastating fires which destroyed his family’s home, Pratt became a leading advocate for the victims.

"My goal was just for these people to go to jail," Pratt said. "And then when they didn’t go to jail, and I saw that it was just business as usual, that's when I decided the only way to stop these people is to take their power from them."

Pratt grew up around Democrats, but had not really considered himself a political figure before the devastating fires.

"I haven’t posted a single political thing in my entire life," the former star of The Hills said. "The only thing I’ve ever done, politics-wise, is back in the day I did a paparazzi set-up photo with a Sarah Palin shirt on, and then the next day I did a paparazzi photo with an Obama shirt on just to get multiple tabloid photos."

The race is tightening as recent reports have shown that Pratt has out-fundraised incumbent Karen Bass since January. A recent poll showed Pratt trailing Bass 25% - 11%. A third candidate, Councilwoman Nithya Raman, polled at 9%.

Pratt underscored how Bass’s failures as mayor aren’t partisan.

"It’s a non-partisan race for a reason," Pratt said. "There’s a reason the mayor is supposed to be a non-partisan city employee because, at the end of the day, they are employees. People forget Karen Bass works for me right now, and she’s failed. She’s done. She should be in jail. These people are demons I'm running against."

When discussing the race, podcast co-host Josh Holmes noted Pratt’s unique opportunity to shape the race as an outsider.

"I think, from my perspective, an awful lot of what’s been going on [in Los Angeles] is just sort of your party politics as would, you know, there’s more Democrats than Republicans," Holmes said. "And nobody’s had a chance to actually assess whether they’re being served good government in a very long time."

Pratt appeared on "Ruthless" as a part of the Ruthless Midterm Interview Series, an ongoing initiative to interview major candidates across the country.
