Timothée Chalamet sparks heated debate after claiming that ‘no one cares’ about ballet and opera

Timothée Chalamet is facing backlash from the ballet and opera communities after making remarks suggesting that "no one cares" about the centuries-old art forms.

In a video from a "CNN and Variety Town Hall Event" that was uploaded on Feb. 24, the 30-year-old actor and Matthew McConaughey discussed the growing industry tendency for films to front-load their "biggest action set pieces" instead of saving those sequences for the end.

Chalamet noted that he had seen an appetite, particularly among younger viewers, for movies "that are more patient and that pull you in," citing Netflix’s hit 2025 film "Frankenstein" as an example.

"It does take you having to wave a flag of, 'Hey, this is a serious movie,' or something, and some people do want to be entertained and quickly," the "Dune" star said.

"I'm really right in the middle, Matthew. I admire people, and I've done it myself, who go on a talk show and say, 'Hey, we've got to keep movie theaters alive, we've gotta keep this genre alive,' and another part of me feels like if people want to see it, like ‘Barbie,’ like ‘Oppenheimer,’ they're going to go see it and go out of their way to be loud and proud about it."

"I don't want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it's like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though like no one cares about this anymore,'" Chalamet said.

"All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there," he added with a laugh.

Chalamet appeared to realize that his offhand comments might have cost him some goodwill among members of the audience, joking, "I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I just took shots for no reason."

The Oscar nominee's remarks drew sharp criticism from prominent figures and organizations within the worlds of ballet and opera when they began circulating online earlier this week.

The Metropolitan Opera responded to Chalamet's comments in an Instagram post, which featured backstage footage of costumers, set designers and musicians preparing for a performance, showcasing the craftsmanship and collaboration behind an opera production.

"All respect to the opera (and ballet) people out there," the Met Opera wrote on the video, referencing Chalamet's remarks.

The organization went on to directly call out the actor in the caption, writing, "This one’s for you, @tchalamet…"

The Royal Ballet and Opera uploaded a video montage on social media that began with an audio clip of Chalamet’s comments over scenes from performances and backstage. The video then cut to a packed audience as the wording "We care" appeared on the screen.

"Every night at the Royal Opera House, thousands of people gather for ballet and opera," the organization wrote in the caption. "For the music. For the storytelling. For the sheer magic of live performance. If you’d like to reconsider, @tchalemet, our doors are open."

The organization also issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, writing, "Ballet and opera have never existed in isolation — they have continually informed, inspired, and elevated other art forms. Their influence can be felt across theatre, film, contemporary music, fashion, and beyond."

The LA Opera also took a swipe at Chalamet on Instagram in a post touting the success of their ongoing production "Akhnaten," writing, "Sorry, @tchalemet We'd offer you complimentary tickets to Akhnaten, but it's selling out. There are a few seats left to purchase if you hurry."

The Seattle Opera had a cheeky response to Chalament, offering a ticket promotion based on his remarks. "All we've got to say is... use promo code TIMOTHEE to save 14% off select seats for Carmen, through this weekend only."

"Timmy, you're welcome to use it too," the caption added. "See you at the opera!"

Meanwhile, several renowned performers took to social media to express their dismay over Chalamet's comments.

Grammy-winning opera singer Isabel Leonard commented on a post from Variety featuring McConaughey and Chalament's discussion, writing, "Honestly, I’m shocked that someone so seemingly successful can be so ineloquent and narrow minded in his views about art while considering himself as artist as I would only imagine one would as an actor."

She continued, "To take cheap shots at fellow artists says more in this interview than anything else he could say. Shows a lot about his character. You don’t have to like all art but only a weak person/artist feels the need to diminish in fact the VERY arts that would inspire those who are interested in slowing down, to do exactly that."

Brazilian ballet dancer Victor Caixeta Ballet also slammed Chalamet, writing, "Ballet and opera have survived for centuries. Let’s see if your movies are still watched in 300 years."

In a video on Instagram, New York City Ballet principal dancer Megan Fairchild explained that she took issue with Chalamet's suggestion that he deliberately chose a career in acting over ballet and opera.

"It’s not even the idea that he dissed ballet and opera that bothers me; It’s the suggestion that he had the talent and aptitude to pursue these Olympic-level artistic fields in the first place," she said.

"Timmy, I didn’t realize you were a world-class dancer or opera singer who simply chose not to pursue it because acting’s more popular! Ballet and opera aren’t niche hobbies people opt out of for fame. They’re disciplines you can only enter if you have the rare ability for them in the first place."

In the caption, Fairchild also referred to past comments that Chalamet has made about his family's ties to the world of ballet while also noting how he was seen stepping out wearing a New York City Ballet baseball cap in January.

"We forgive you, @tchalamet," she wrote. "We know you love @nycballet — we’ve seen the hat. And your lovely sister watches our rehearsals."

In a December 2025 interview, Chalamet recalled growing up around ballet through his family, noting that his grandmother, mother Nicole Flender and sister Pauline Chalamet were dancers.

"My grandmother danced in the New York City Ballet, my mother danced in the New York City Ballet, my sister danced in the New York City Ballet. I grew up dreaming big backstage at the Koch Theater in New York. […] I’m like a Venn Diagram of the best cultural influences of the 21st century and 20th century," he said in a clip posted by a fan account.

Some of Chalament's fellow Hollywood stars also voiced their disapproval of his comments, including Jamie Lee Curtis, who reposted a video shared by actor Zach McNally, in which he shared his disappointment over Chalamet's remarks.

However, despite the overwhelmingly negative response from the ballet and opera communities, some online commentators defended Chalamet' stance, arguing that he was commenting on audience trends rather than the intrinsic value of ballet or opera.

"Look I’m a supporter of the arts, a very passionate one at that, but it’s clear what timothee chalamet was trying to say," one X user wrote. "It’s about audience engagement. He just didn’t phrase it well at all. I say this as someone who LOVES ballet and sees beauty in opera."

"Timothee Chalamet did nothing wrong," another agreed. "I am part of ballet and opera’s remaining audience. They are not widely popular artforms today. Film was the great mass medium of the 20th century. There is no guarantee that will continue. He shows appropriate concern for cinema’s future."

"Y’all, come on. I used to work for an opera company. My checks — which I needed to pay rent — bounced more than once," a social media user commented. "Glib phrasing aside, Timothée Chalamet is right: very few people care about opera. It sucks, but that’s reality."

On Friday, The New York Times published an op-ed titled "Timothée Chalamet Has a Point About Ballet," which argued that while Chalamet's opinion wasn't fully "fleshed out," the actor wasn't necessarily wrong.

"Chalamet’s point wasn’t that ballet and opera don’t matter, but that it isn’t really part of mainstream culture," the op-ed stated. "He was dismissing these art forms’ roles in our society, and is he wrong? The value of ballet and opera, and people’s perception around their value, are two different things."

Matthew McConaughey does not approve of participation prizes.

During a recent appearance on the "On Purpose with Jay Shetty" podcast, the 56-year-old actor spoke about his dislike for participation medals and how chasing perfection drives him.

"I'm not into extra credit. I don't like 4.2 GPAs," he said. "That tells me, like, what happened? Then we're not giving the right tests. If 4.0 was the pinnacle, that means not many people should be getting it, if anybody."

"So now we're getting 4.2s, 4.4s," he added. "That tells me we've overleveraged the original task, or we've added amnesty or too many places to not have the real competence and merit at the task that you're supposed to get, because, especially I think in the West, because we want everyone to feel really great. Participation trophies. 4.2 GPA."

When it comes to chasing perfection and failing, McConaughey admitted he thinks it is important to grow, saying that going into a situation knowing perfection is impossible but still having faith is crucial, adding "I feel like it keeps me in the chase. Keeps me in the race."

When speaking with Fox News Digital in September 2025, McConaughey shared why his motto, "Just Keep Livin," is how he approaches his life in order to "do my best to take care of the family."

McConaughey has been married to Brazilian model, Camila Alves, since 2012, and they share three children together: Levi, 17, Vida, 16, and Livingston, 13.

"That's something that's non-negotiable in my life," McConaughey said. "That's one of those fires that's going to … I started when I met Camilla 19 years ago, and we've continued as we have kids, and when the kids get out of the house, and Camilla and I continue on, those are fires that I want to keep putting fuel on. I want to keep building those.

"Those are non-negotiable. Those are always on my proverbial desk in my life."

When discussing the start of his family, McConaughey told "This Past Weekend with Theo Von," that "I always knew I wanted to be a father," and knew Alves was the one he wanted to start a family with, but marriage was not a top priority.

He later discussed his mom's reaction when he told her he and Alves were pregnant with their first child before getting married, saying the line went silent when he told her over the phone.

On the recent episode of SiriusXM's "Where Everybody Knows Your Name," McConaughey told hosts Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson that he doesn't rewatch his work because he turns into a "judgmental d---."

"I don't love it. I always say this, I love the sound of my voice when it's coming outta my mouth, but not after," McConaughey said.

"I'm — f---ing Brando or Olivier when I'm working, when I watch it, oh jeez. I become this judgmental d---."

Matthew McConaughey almost took a different path in life.

During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Wednesday, Dec. 10, the 56-year-old actor shared he once had aspirations of being a monk.

"That entire year in Australia in '88 '89, I did. And then for another 10 years after that I did," he told Kimmel, further elaborating, "Quiet alone, even the hermetic life was somewhat appealing."

The actor shared that he was seriously considering it, so much so that he asked his friend, who was a monk, if he believed that was also the right path for him, noting his friend told him, "That is not what you're here to do."

His friend explained that he saw McConaughey as "a communicator" and "a storyteller," who should not put himself "into silence and be away from society." The monk told him that he should spend his life sharing his stories and communicating with others.

"A monk helped me understand that that was maybe not my calling, but I've still got time," McConaughey said.

Matthew McConaughey isn't backing down from stunt work.

McConaughey revealed his most bizarre and memorable injury during an appearance on the First We Feast show "Hot Ones."

The now 56-year-old actor is known to do his own stunts, as long as insurance will allow it. McConaughey recalled hyperextending his left leg during a "dumba--" move filming "Reign of Fire" in the early 2000s.

"You could see the bottom of the tunnel," he said. "It was about a six-foot drop. Right? So you see it. Go down, you know when to bend your knees and take in the impact."

McConaughey said things changed when they went to film the scene, because the lights had been turned off.

"Right when I did, I was like that was such a dumb--- move," he added. "I should have said, 'Cut – I don't see it.'"

McConaughey noted it was a "silly injury" that could have been avoided.

Many celebrities are known for their fit physiques, and while some love a brisk jog or a hot yoga class, others have more unusual ways of making sure they can slip into their skinny jeans.

Valerie Bertinelli

"One Day at a Time" alum Valerie Bertinelli jump-starts her morning with a coffee and some hopping.

Late last month, the 63-year-old shared her new routine on Instagram, saying she jumps up and down 50 times each morning.

"The Google says when you jump 50x or for one minute in the morning, it can increase your blood flow, support bone density (super important at my age), and stimulate your lymphatic system, which helps to flush toxins," the cookbook author said. One of the ways the 80-year-old keeps fit is by pushing bricks at the bottom of the swimming pool.

"We do a lot of underwater training, where the trainer throws a brick into the pool and I have to dive in, push the brick to the end of the pool and come up," Stewart told AARP earlier this year of his workout routine.

He added that Frank Sinatra — who thought he always had a sore throat because of his gravelly voice — told him: "Rod, the secret to being a great singer is having powerful lungs. Do lots of underwater swimming, where you hold your breath."

In 2023, Stewart told People magazine that his underwater workouts were designed for the British Special Air Service (SAS).

"You have a big rubber brick, and you've got to swim the length of the pool and push it the length of the pool, on the bottom of the pool," he said. "It's really wonderful. Well, sometimes it's not wonderful because I don't want to do it, but I'd say it's fun."

Aside from swimming, Stewart also takes a page from Usain Bolt and does 100-meter sprints on his private track.

"I got it down to 19 seconds by learning how to push off," the "Do Ya Think I’m Sexy" singer said. "I’m going to try and do 17 seconds, which I think is a world record for an 80-year-old."

Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg’s workouts start at 2:30 a.m. and involve a cold plunge or ice bath, and cryo chamber recovery.

"The Italian Job" star explained to Men’s Journal that the early morning start allows him to have time for himself in the predawn hours while getting his work done and being there for his family as much as possible the rest of the day.

He previously told the magazine: "breakfast is at 3:45 a.m., by 4 I’m training, 5 a.m. is prayers, and I’m golfing at 6."

Wahlberg told "Good Morning America" in September that usually, when he’s waking up, one of his kids is still up if it’s the weekend.

"The only way I can do it is if I get to bed at 7 [p.m.], 'cause I need eight hours of sleep," he explained.

He added, "I learned the hard way over the years, which is why I try to show what I do every day, just so I can show people that it is about the work, it is about the discipline, and this is the only way that I could be successful, both personally and professionally."

In a promotional video for CRYO Arctic, Wahlberg explained that he needs cryo "recovery every day. I hurt my back … but I’m coming back!"

After a stint in the chamber, Wahlberg came out and referred to it as the "best recovery there is."

Cryotherapy exposes the body to extremely cold temperatures for a short period of time to help lower inflammation and soothe sore muscles, in the same way an ice pack would, according to the Mayo Clinic.

The 54-year-old has shared multiple videos on social media of his ice bath routine, often referring to it as "cold life."

In 2023, he told Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos that cold plunging is "the best thing that’s happened to me. I feel like now I can’t start my day without it."

He added that "it takes care of so many things [like] inflammation."

Wahlberg said he stays in for around five to six minutes. "By the time I start praying and meditating, I’m usually a little bit over [the time]."

"It’s the best way to start the day," he added.

Even when he’s not at home, he’s dedicated to his routine, "whether it’s stealing buckets of ice from the ice machine at a small hotel, or at my daughter’s horse show, or getting the hotel to send me — anything I can do to get it done."

The "Dallas Buyers Club" star said sometimes he mixes things up "with crunches, squats, whatever. Also, I have a 12-pound medicine ball. I’ll just think, Pick up the medicine ball and don’t put it down for 30 minutes. Try that once. You will have a workout, man."

The model and actress has shared videos of herself lifting 225 pounds with her hips, and she also does resistance workouts in the pool.

For Matthew McConaughey, the moment he learned he would become a father was everything he had dreamed of, but when he shared the news with his mother, things took an unexpected turn.

"I always knew I wanted to be a father," he said on "This Past Weekend with Theo Von," adding that the real challenge was finding "a woman that you’re in love with and that you know is going to be a great mother."

When he met Camila Alves, he found exactly that — but marriage wasn’t the immediate next step.

"Maybe that’s because my mom and dad were married three times and divorced twice, and her mom and dad were married two times and divorced three times … we had a track record for reason to go, ‘Well, I don’t know about this.’"

McConaughey said the two were thriving as a couple and weren’t interested in tying the knot just because others insisted they should.

"So, we’re rolling along … it’s going great, and we don’t want to get married because that's just what you’re ‘supposed’ to do," he said. "I don’t want to back into it because someone said, ‘Legally, it's …', no, bulls---, I want to want to. I wasn’t against it, but we were like, ‘We’re doing good.’"

Everything changed one night when McConaughey came home to a scene he didn’t realize was setting up a life-changing reveal — cheeseburgers on the grill, his favorite tequila poured and a gift.

He opened the gift and found a sonogram. They cried "tears of joy" together, then they decided to call his mother to share the good news.

The moment he told her that they were expecting, the line fell silent.

Ten minutes later, McConaughey’s phone rang again. His mother had called back and asked him to put her on speakerphone so she could speak to both him and Alves.

"‘I would like to put some white-out over that last … I was being selfish, thinking about myself,’" she told them. "‘If you two are happy about it, I should be happy for you. It was not my place to be unhappy.’"

McConaughey said that moment helped reset everything, and he and Alves continued building their family.

"So, we had two children before we got married," he said, emphasizing that the journey unfolded exactly as it was meant to for them.

McConaughey and Alves married in 2012. Shortly after their wedding, the family moved from California to Texas.

The couple share three children: Levi, Vida and Livingston.

Matthew McConaughey is commemorating the anniversary of his arrest in a unique way.

The 55-year-old "Dallas Buyers Club" star and his wife, Camila Alves, and their tequila company, Pantalones Organic Tequila, marked the occasion with a dramatic reading of his arrest report.

"If playing the bongos in my birthday suit gives us an anniversary worth raising a glass to, I’ll pour some Pantalones and cheers to it," McConaughey told Fox News Digital.

Voice actor Steve Zirnkilton, best known as the voice of the opening narration for all "Law and Order" franchises, provided his voice for the video's intro.

McConaughey first wrote about his arrest in his 2020 memoir, "Greenlights." In the book, he explained it occurred in October 1999 when he was 29 years old, after he watched his alma mater, the Texas Longhorns, defeat the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Following the win, he wrote that "it was time to celebrate."

"I partied through the night into Sunday, and through Sunday night without sleeping a wink," he wrote. "At 2:30 that Monday morning, I finally decided to wind down. It was time to lower the lights, get undressed, open up the window and let the jasmine scent from my garden come inside."

He went on to say that "it was time to smoke a bowl and listen to" musician Henri Dikongué, while he followed along on his bongos. "It was time to stand over my drum set and follow the rhythm of the blues before they got to Memphis," he said.

"What I didn’t know was that while I was banging away in my bliss, two Austin policemen also thought it was time to barge into my house unannounced, wrestle me to the ground with nightsticks, handcuff me and pin me to the floor," he wrote in his book.

The actor wrote that he was charged with "disturbing the peace, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest."

Looking back, Alves tells Fox News Digital that "Only Matthew could turn a night like that into something we celebrate with tequila."

In addition to the dramatic reading, the couple are celebrating the anniversary with a new signature cocktail called "Pantsless and Famous," a play on the well-known cocktail, "Naked and Famous," a move which plays into the brand's slogan, "The Official Tequila of Marching to Your Own Beat."

McConaughey and Alves co-founded the tequila company in October 2023. In order to promote the brand, the couple released a number of advertisements featuring the two of them doing various activities, including playing pickleball and doing laundry, without pants on.

"We’re precious about our tequila, not our pants," McConaughey and Camila said in a press release. "With the explosion in popularity of tequila, there’s a level of snootiness that’s crept into the category. People now talk about tequila the way they talk about wine."

Matthew McConaughey clarifies long-standing rumor that his accent cost him millions in Hollywood

Matthew McConaughey is setting the record straight about why he did not get the lead role of Jack Dawson in the 1997 blockbuster movie "Titanic."

During an appearance on Hello Sunshine's "The Bright Side" podcast, the 55-year-old actor was asked about past claims that he turned down an offer to play Jack in the Oscar-winning movie because he refused to change his Southern accent.

"That's rumor," the Texas native said. "There was never any discussion about an accent or anything."

McConaughey explained the reason that he didn't end up playing Jack was simple.

"I just didn't get the job," he said.

In an excerpt of "Titanic" producer Jon Landau's upcoming posthumous memoir, "The Bigger Picture," obtained by Matthew Belloni's What I'm Hearing newsletter, the late producer recalled McConaughey's audition for the role of Jack opposite Kate Winslet, who played the female lead role of Rose DeWitt Bukater.

"We brought him in to do a scene with Kate [Winslet]. You want to check for chemistry — not just how people look on film, but how they interact," Landau wrote. "Kate was taken with Matthew, his presence and charm. Matthew did the scene with the drawl."

According to the book, after McConaughey completed the scene in his signature Texas accent, director James Cameron told the actor, "That's great, now let's try it a different way," to which the actor allegedly responded, "No. That was pretty good. Thanks."

"Let's just say, that was it for McConaughey," Landau recalled in the book.

McConaughey has spoken about his audition process for the film in the past, telling Rob Lowe during a 2021 appearance on his podcast, "Literally! With Rob Lowe," in which he debunked rumors that he had been offered the part but rejected it.

"Not factual," he said. "I did not get offered that role."

While appearing on "The Bright Side" podcast, McConaughey remembered thinking that he had won the role at the time.

"I had a great read with Kate Winslet and the producers," he recalled of auditioning with the actress, now 50.

"I felt pretty confident that maybe I'd landed it. But I didn't," McConaughey said.

The "Dazed and Confused" star remembered previously hearing that Cameron said he did get the part.

"I think it was Jim Cameron that somewhere along the way, in some presser, said something like, ‘Yeah, McConaughey had the job but whatever, didn’t take it,'" he said.

McConaughey recalled that he approached Cameron to confirm he was never offered the part.

"I was like, ‘Let me know, Jim. I don’t remember that ever happening. I thought I got the job but I never got offered that job. Did you say that?' And we got that cleared up," McConaughey said.

"I was also like, ‘Because if I did, I need to call my agent ’cause they owe me a lot! Did they turn it down for me? Because I never got offered that to turn it down,'" he added.

After being asked if he had really wanted the role and had been disappointed by not getting it, McConaughey said "I wanted it, but, I mean, there's plenty of jobs out there that I wanted to get that I didn't get."

The role famously went to Leonardo DiCaprio, who had made a name for himself in films such as "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" and "Romeo + Juliet" beforehand. However, his role as Jack Dawson led him to become an international star and teen heartthrob. DiCaprio was reportedly paid $2.5 million to star in the movie, while Winslet earned $2 million.

Winslet, who went on to receive an Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of Rose Dewitt Bukater, recalled auditioning with McConaughey while on "The Late Show" in 2017, calling his audition "completely fantastic," but admitted the movie would have been different if he was cast, adding "It just wouldn't have been the whole 'Jack and Rose, Kate and Leo' thing."

After its 1997 release, "Titanic" became a blockbuster phenomenon with a worldwide haul of $1.84 billion. The movie also made awards history, receiving 14 Academy Awards nominations and winning 11, including best picture and best director for Cameron.

While McConaughey did miss out on starring in the epic love story, McConaughey's career did not suffer. He went on to win an Academy Award for his role in "Dallas Buyers Club" and was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on season one of "True Detective."

Matthew McConaughey and his mother, Kay McConaughey, reflected on how their relationship has changed over the years.

The 55-year-old actor, his 93-year-old mother and his 17-year-old son Levi, who are all starring together in the Apple TV+ movie "The Lost Bus," recently sat down for a group interview with People magazine. While speaking with the outlet, Matthew recalled how his rise to fame caused a rift between him and his mother when she began leaking stories to the media.

"I’d say we’re closer now. We had about an eight-year period where I had to have short conversations with her on our Sunday phone calls because she was sharing a lot of that information," the Oscar winner said.

Matthew continued, "I’d tell her something on Sunday between son and mom, and Tuesday I’d read about it in the news or see it in the local paper. She couldn’t help herself."

"About eight years after that, I got stable enough with my own position and fame that I was like, ‘You know what? My mom can say whatever the hell she wants,'" Matthew said. "It’s much more fun now."

Matthew and Kay previously opened up about their eight-year rift during a joint appearance on "Red Table Talk" in 2020.

"As soon as I got 'famous' after [1996's] ‘A Time to Kill,’ I started to have my weekly Sunday call home to call my mother," McConaughey said, per People magazine. "Mother wasn’t answering the phone. A fan of my fame was answering the phone."

McConaughey continued, "I was trying to find my own balance with fame and stuff. And I would share things with her... some of those things I would share might show up in the six o’clock news three days later."

The "Dallas Buyers Club" star recalled that he was stunned when he turned on his television and saw that his mother allowed camera crews to enter his childhood home, showing off his bedroom and sharing private family stories.

"I didn’t think you’d find out," he remembered Kay telling him.

Matthew explained that the exchange led him to limit his conversations with Kay, saying, "I was not able to talk to her as my mom for about eight years."

"There were years there where I would not share things with her because I was also finding my own balance," he said. "I was like, ‘Look, mom, loose lips will sink ships. There are a lot of people that would like to know these things, and it's none of their business.'"

Matthew shared that the two were able to mend their rift after he grew more comfortable with his career and fame.

"My boat was built well enough where I didn’t feel like she could sink it," he recalled. "We healed that up in 2004."

Looking back, Kay admitted that she was "enjoying his fame more than he was, I guess."

Kay shared the actor and his older brothers, Michael "Rooster" McConaughey and Pat McConaughey, with their father James McConaughey, who died in 1992 at the age of 63. The two had a famously turbulent relationship. Kay and James' first marriage ended in divorce, but they remarried — only to divorce again. Ultimately, the pair reconciled and married a third time, staying together until James' death.

According to People, Kay, who is a retired teacher, now lives in Austin, Texas, with Matthew's family.

During their interview with the outlet, Kay, who is called MaMac by her six grandchildren, shared her approach to parenting.

"You don’t want me to have to tell you twice," Kay said.

The "True Detective" alum noted that he and his wife Camila Alves have a different parenting style. Matthew and the 42-year-old former model share Levi as well as daughter Vida, 15, and son Livingston, 12.

"In our family, Camila and I try to listen longer, try to understand," he said. "Camila and I will explain more of what we mean by more than just, ‘I said so.’"

"I asked them, ‘Do you ever get in any kind of argument?’" Kay said. "And I don’t know which one said it, but it was more or less, ‘When we do, we don’t do it around the kids.’"

Levi is making his acting debut in "The Lost Bus," which is based on the real-life story of school bus driver Kevin McKay — played by Matthew — who rescued 22 students from an elementary school and drove them to safety during the 2018 Camp Fire in Paradise, California. Levi stars in the movie as his real-life father's son while Kay is playing the mother of Matthew's character.

"I had to badger him," Levi told People of convincing Matthew to let him audition for the role.

Matthew told People that he was "open" to Levi following in his footsteps and launching an acting career, though that had not always been the case.

"The first 15 years in Hollywood, I was like, ‘I’d never want my kid to grow up in the business,'" he remembered. "And when I hit about 40, right about the time we had Levi, I looked around at how many special people I’ve met in my life, how much travel and what an awesome, healthy, cool experience that’s been for me in my life. I was like, ‘Where are you coming up with this idea you don’t want any of your kids to do it?’ It’d be a privilege if they would be able to."

Matthew also shared the advice that he had given to Levi about navigating the industry and the fame that can come with succeeding as an actor.

"I’ve tried to give him some tips that I’ve learned along the way, tried to give him some of those tips earlier than I understood them," he said. "It’s hard to keep your feet on the ground to sift out the real stuff from the BS."

"But over time, you’ve got to get that sixth sense," McConaughey continued. "It’s important that he has his own ownership of who he is and becomes. And [acting] will be a part of that if he continues to do it, part of finding his identity, but it can’t be his full identity."

The quote, which was a famous line from his character in the 1993 film "Dazed and Confused," became more than a daily affirmation for McConaughey when he launched the just keep livin Foundation in 2008 to benefit high school students.

Now as a father to three children and husband to Camilla Alves, McConaughey told Fox News Digital that his motto resonates in every aspect of his life.

Of the top three takeaways, the "Poems & Prayers" author said that "just keep livin" is a starting point for him to "do my best to take care of the family."

McConaughey has remained on his feet, albeit out of Los Angeles and back in his home state of Texas. In 2014, McConaughey left Malibu, Calif., for Austin, Texas, with his family.

He was born in Uvalde, Texas, but grew up in Longview, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and had plans to be a lawyer, but ended up taking a different route.

"It's not an entertainment industry town. I like the pace here," McConaughey said of his decision to move home. "I like where a mile feels like a mile and 60 minutes feels like an hour. I like the common sense here."

He noted, "This is where my family is. My mother's 35 minutes north of us. My two brothers are here in the state. We travel to see them, they travel to us. I've got old friends that I still see from college here. It just fits for me and I still feel creative."

While McConaughey has love for Hollywood, which has "been very good" to him, he yearned for a different way of life.

"My lessons in performing, being an artist and an actor, come from observing real life," he said. "And I don't necessarily, as much as I enjoy, and Hollywood's been very good to me, I don't wanna see a performance everywhere."

He added, "I wanna sit back and have some experiences, some real life experiences, learn from those, take that into maybe my next performance when it's time. But I like the life we live here."

"We have kids and we go to our friend's house and he has one of these double king-size beds put together and all the kids sleep in the bed," McConaughey told Fox News Digital. "The wife's on one side with her side table and the husband's on the other side and it's great when you got all three kids, but all of a sudden the kids get too big. They're out of the bed."

The "Dazed and Confused" actor noted that there's "no room" for any kids in the bed.

Themes throughout McConaughey's latest written work include love stories, faith, doubt, compassion and forgiveness. "Poems & Prayers" features writings inspired by both proverbs and the Old Testament, in addition to intentions and words of affirmation.

Maintaining healthy family relationships not only as a father to three children, but also as a partner to Camilla, is important to McConaughey.

When McConaughey and Camila married in 2012, the family moved from California to Texas. The couple share three children: Levi, Vida and Livingston.

"You've got kids, so you don't … you're spending as much time being a good mother and father of them, but you also gotta make sure – and I can do a better job of this – of going, ‘No, this is our time.’ You can't 100% live with the kids as a parent," McConaughey said.

Alves and McConaughey are so committed to finding time for each other that they launched their own alcohol brand in 2023, Pantalones Organic Tequila. They regularly star in cheeky campaign ads for the company, which offers three varieties of tequila.

"We enjoy ourselves," McConaughey said. "You know, like the tequila, we put damn good juice in a bottle. We were formal. We were buttoned up on that. As soon as we got good juice and a bottle, he said, pants off."

In an excerpt of "Titanic" producer Jon Landau's memoir, "The Bigger Picture," obtained by Matthew Belloni's What I'm Hearing newsletter, the late producer detailed McConaughey's audition for the role of Jack Dawson in the Academy Award-winning movie.

"Let's just say, that was it for McConaughey," Landau recalled in the book.

McConaughey has spoken about his audition process for the film in the past, telling Rob Lowe during a 2021 appearance on his podcast, "Literally! With Rob Lowe," that after his audition, he "really thought it was going to happen."

"So I went and read with Kate Winslet, and it was not one of the auditions — they filmed it so it was like into screen test time," he said. "After we left, you know, it was one of those ones where they, like, followed me, and when we got outside, they were like, 'That went great.' I mean, kind of, like, hugs. I really thought it was going to happen. It did not."

While he did miss out on starring in the epic love story, McConaughey's career did not suffer. He went on to win an Academy Award for his role in "Dallas Buyers Club" and was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on season one of "True Detective."

While on Lowe's podcast, McConaughey also shut down the longstanding rumor that he was offered the role of Jack and turned it down, saying he even asked the film's director, James Cameron, to confirm he was never offered the part.

Martha Stewart wasn’t prepared for Matthew McConaughey’s intensity for his role in the Super Bowl commercial they appeared in together.

In a conversation with Kate Hudson on "The Martha Stewart Podcast," Stewart said, "He got me scared actually… Oh my God, yeah, he scared me."

McConaughey and Stewart appeared in an Uber Eats commercial that aired during the game, and the Oscar-winner played multiple characters in the full version.

Levi McConaughey, 16, shared the acting advice he received from the "Dallas Buyers Club" star as he embarks on his own Hollywood career.

"I mean, he gave me a lot of advice, and he was able to mentor me in a couple different ways," Levi explained to People magazine during his first red carpet interview.

Best acting for my money is when an actor's caught in action, doing something. Meaning, where were you before, and where are you going after, if the camera is rolling the whole time. So you come into the scene, so the scene doesn't feel like a fresh start and a fresh ending."

"The other thing is, take risks," he added. "Don't be afraid to make a fool of yourself – I did it plenty of times, and it's a lot easier to go big and come back down to reality than it is to come in under and push it to more energy later. It's a lot easier to go big, make a fool of yourself, get embarrassed, and then bring it down to reality than it is to start with low energy and go, hey, we need more."

Matthew McConaughey's mom, Kay McConaughey, is sharing her secrets to staying young.

During a recent interview with Austin Lifestyle, Kay commented on how she has been able to remain youthful at 93 years old.

"I really have a positive attitude, and I eat well," Kay explained. "I eat clean. I exercise. I do Pilates for one hour, four days a week, and that keeps me fit. But, the biggest thing for me is I don't stress."

"Like, if you and I were really good friends and, and you were talking to me, and you had a situation, I would listen to you and I would give you advice and if you didn't take it, then that's it, I wouldn't stress over it," she shared.

Kay went on to explain that many "women think they always have to fix everything," but that is not a belief she subscribes to.

Kay also noted that she is willing to help her friends and family when needed, but that she is "not going to stress over fixing everything." "I don't let myself get it them, trust me, I don't," said Kay. "If I see that's where I'm headed, I back off. I'm not going to let people do that to me. I never really had any reason to. I was really popular, and I had a zest for life and stress is not a word I can apply to me, ever."

Later in the interview, Kay, who is affectionately referred to as "MaMac" by Matthew and his wife Camila Alves, gave insight into her family life with her son and daughter-in-law. Kay shared she "love[s] Camila’s cole slaw. And salmon," and only eats red meat when she is at their house.

When asked which one of her son's movies is her favorite, she revealed it's "Dallas Buyer’s Club."

"He did a really great job, really and truly," said Kay. "That made me cry."

Hollywood A-listers Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton and Renée Zellweger are hoping to make Texas "the new Hollywood."

The stars united for a new ad from the True to Texas initiative to encourage filmmakers to move productions to the state, and lobby state officials for financial incentives to make the move appealing.

McConaughey and Harrelson took inspiration from their "True Detective" characters in the clip, under the direction of the series director, Nic Pizzolatto.

"Hollywood is flat circle, Woody," McConaughey muses in the clip. "This industry is like somebody’s memory of an industry. I’m talking about a whole new hub for film and television. A renaissance. A rebirth."

Last week, the Texas senate announced that it had filed a budget that includes $498 million to revamp the state’s film incentives, "making Texas the movie capital of the world" per the office of Lt. Governor Dan Patrick’s press release. The budget consists of "$48 million in grants for small films and TV commercials, and up to $450 million in new tax credits, including Texas residency requirements for workers."

As Texas’ popularity grows with celebrity support, Hollywood itself has been struggling.

Filming in Los Angeles dropped to a historic low in 2024, down 5.6 percent from the previous year, per a report from FilmLA, the city’s film office, making it the least productive year on their record, second only to 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns. The report cited, "combined effects of runaway production, industry contraction and slower-than-hoped-for post-strike recovery" as the reason for the low numbers.

The devastating fires that broke out in early January have also contributed to worry about the state of production in the city, prompting a petition called "Stay in LA."

"We were already deeply worried about the livelihoods of Los Angeles area cast and crew, not to mention the countless small businesses suffering from production moving out of state and overseas. We need a flood of new work to help our beloved city rebuild itself and ensure LA's future viability as a place where craftspeople, film workers, and businesses thrive," the organization, started by Alexandra Pechman and Sarah Adina Smith, states on their page.

The petition asks state government leadership to uncap tax incentives for the next three years for productions filming in Los Angeles County and asks studios and streamers to pledge to film 10% more in the city over that same time period. It also praised Governor Gavin Newsom’s proposal to increase California’s own tax incentives for filming to $750 million.

Among those are celebrities like Keanu Reeves, Kevin Bacon, Olivia Wilde and many, many more being added every day, according to Deadline.

Last month, President Donald Trump appointed Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone and Jon Voight as Special Ambassadors to Hollywood, with the purpose of promoting business in the industry.

While appearing on "Hannity," Gibson addressed the issue of work leaving the city, saying, "[People] are going somewhere else, because it's more cost-effective. There [are] just a lot of prohibitive regulations and things in the way that I think could be lifted. . . . But I think it can be fixed."

"I know Newsom gave some tax incentives, but maybe not enough, because it's still not working. There are other things that offset that," he added later.

Matthew McConaughey recalled how his mother, Kay McConaughey, supported him after he was arrested for playing bongo drums while naked and high in 1999.

The 55-year-old actor detailed the notorious incident in his bestselling 2020 memoir, "Greenlights." At last weekend's Texas Book Festival, which featured McConaughey and Malcolm Gladwell as the headlining authors, the Oscar winner joined director Richard Linklater for a conversation about "Greenlights."

While speaking with Linklater, McConaughey remembered the advice Kay shared with him after the infamous arrest.

"'You go outside in front of that media, and you hold your head high,'" the Texas native recalled Kay telling him, according to People magazine. "'I know what you were doing last night playing bongos, smoking that funny stuff in your birthday suit, and you've done it many times before. And I know you're going to do it again.'"

McConaughey told Linklater, who directed the actor in his breakthrough movie, "Dazed and Confused," that Kay had shared similar words of wisdom with him before.

"'Don't walk into a place like you want to buy it, walk in it like you own it.' She tells me that before we go to prom. She tells me that on the morning before I went in to go do a screen test for ‘A Time to Kill,’" he said.

In "Greenlights," McConaughey wrote that the arrest occurred after he attended a football game during which his alma mater's team, the Texas Longhorns, squared off against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

After the Longhorns triumphed over the Huskers, McConaughey, who was 29 at the time, recalled that Austin was "on fire" and "it was time to celebrate."

"It was time to smoke a bowl and listen to the beautiful African melodic beats of Henri Dikongué play through my home speakers. It was time to stand over my drum set and follow the rhythm of the blues before they got to Memphis on my favorite Afro-Cuban drum born of ceremony and speaking in tongues, the congas."

However, McConaughey wrote that his nude jam session was unexpectedly interrupted.

McConaughey remembered that one officer told him that he was being charged with "disturbing the peace, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.'"

"F--- you, motherf-----! You broke in my house! F--, yeah, I resisted!" the "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" star recalled yelling at the officer

McConaughey wrote that he refused when the other officer tried to wrap a blanket around the actor's naked body.

‘"Ohhhh no!" I barked. "I’m not putting s--- on! My naked ass is proof I was mindin' my own business!"’ he remembered telling the officer.

As the actor was being escorted to the police car, he saw that his arrest had attracted a crowd.

McConaughey noted that "word must have spread over the police scanner as to just who had been arrested because there on the street were six lit-up cop cars and about 40 of my neighbors."

After arriving at the Austin Police Department, McConaughey remembered that a fellow inmate convinced him to put on a "pair of men’s orange institutional pants."

McConaughey initially had told the inmate that his naked state was "proof of my innocence."

"'We all innocent, man. Trust me, you do wanna put these on,'" the actor remembered the inmate saying.

"Maybe it was his honest eyes or the fact that he was a fellow offender, or maybe it was the sudden realization that, when a six-foot, six-inch jailbird built like a brick s---house tells you, ‘You do wanna put on some pants before you go in the clink,’ it’s probably best to listen," McConaughey wrote.

After spending the night in jail, McConaughey was visited by Judge Penny Wilkov and criminal defense attorney Joe Turner.

Wilkov decided to dismiss disturbing the peace and possession misdemeanor charges and allowed McConaughey to be released on bond for resisting arrest.

McConaughey wrote that Turner advised him to leave the jail from the back entrance because reporters had gathered in front of the building.

The actor wrote that he felt "guilty" and was unsure how to handle his departure from jail. At that point, he called Kay.

"Looking for some fearless consolation, I decided to call my mom before I chose which way to leave my first prison stint," McConaughey wrote. "Maybe it was the fact that while I was sure she would have no mercy for my circumstance, at the same time, I knew she would pour a drink and toast to how it was I got into it.

"Was it going to be her that answered or was it going to be that new groupie fan? I didn’t know. Turns out it was both.

"'They what, Matthew?! Broke into your house!? Those son of a bitches, you keep your head up," he recalled Kay saying. "'There is nothing wrong with smokin' a little fun stuff and playing your drums naked at night in your own home; who do they think they are comin in your house like that?!'

"Just what I needed," McConaughey wrote. "I hung up and decided to stride toward the media mob out front instead of sneaking out the back.

"Two days later, BONGO NAKED T-shirts were all over Austin."

During McConaughey's appearance at the Texas Book Fair, Linklater pointed out that McConaughey wasn't the only author in the family.

"You're not the first McConaughey to write a memoir," the director told him.

"Your mom beat you to it," Linklater added, referring to Kay's 2008 self-published memoir.

"You want to know what my mom's memoir is called? 'I Amaze Myself.' She has a bumper sticker — still does to this day — 'I Amaze Myself,'" McConaughey said.

Devilishly handsome and naturally charming, Matthew McConaughey was once the paradigm of a leading man in a romantic comedy.

However, the Academy Award-winning actor, now 55, chose to literally and figuratively move on to greener pastures nearly two decades ago, leaving his curated "rom-com dude" identity behind in Hollywood and moving to his ranch in Texas, where he could be more selective about roles.

"Look, man, the devil’s in the infinite yeses, not the nos," he told Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios on his podcast, "Good Trouble."

"'No' is just as important, if not more important. Especially if you have some level of success and access. ‘No’ becomes more important than ‘yes.’ Because, I mean, we can all look around and see we’ve overleveraged our life with yeses and going, ‘Geez, oh man. I’m making C-minuses and all this s--- in my life because I said yes to too many things.'"

Over a span of five years, McConaughey starred in "The Wedding Planner" opposite Jennifer Lopez, "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" with Kate Hudson and "Failure to Launch" alongside Sarah Jessica Parker.

"When I was rolling with the rom-coms, and I was the ‘rom-com dude,' that was my lane and I liked that lane. That lane paid well, and it was working," he admitted. However, he felt like he was on "autopilot."

"I was so strong in that lane that anything outside that lane - dramas and stuff that I want[ed] to do - were like, ‘No, no, no. No, McConaughey.' Hollywood said, ’No, no, no. You should stay there,'" he shared. "So, since I couldn't do what I wanted to do, I stopped doing what I was doing, and I moved down to the ranch in Texas," he said.

"I made a pact with my wife and said, ‘I’m not going back to work unless I get offered roles I want to do.'"

However, McConaughey said not exercising his creative juices for two years took its toll. "That bottle of my favorite juice started looking good earlier in the day," he shared. "Luckily, Camila got pregnant with our first child [Levi], so there was purpose coming to look forward to, but I was still like, 'Man's got to work.'" The couple now have three children together.

He joked that "making chimes and working in the garden wasn't cutting it."

However, two years into his impasse with Hollywood, McConaughey said he got an offer to do an action-comedy film for $8 million. "I said, ‘No thank you.’ They came back with a $10 million offer. I said, ‘No thank you.’ They came back with a $12 million offer. I said, ’No thank you.' Came back with a $14.5 million…I said, ‘Let me read that again.’ Same script, as the one that was offered for 8, but it was better. I mean $6.5 million more dollars. It was better," he said. "It was funnier. I could see myself in this."

McConaughey remembered thinking to himself, "'This might work for you, McConaughey. This one might be one to come back and do.' But I said no…That was probably seen as the most rebellious move in Hollywood by me because it really sent the signal, ‘He ain't f---ing bluffing.' And when you got someone who's not bluffing, there's something attractive about that."

"I think that's what made Hollywood go, ‘You know what? He’s now a new novel idea. He's a new bright idea.'"

McConaughey would go on to list some of the projects where he went on to flourish, from television's "True Detective" to the movies "Mud" and "Dallas Buyers Club," for which he took home the Academy Award for best actor.

"And boy, when they came, when those offers came, I was salivating, man. And I just bit on into it, and went back to back to back and worked as much as I could and loved it and felt every bit of it."

According to his IMDb page, McConaughey has two films in post-production, neither of which are romantic comedies.

Georgia entered last weekend's clash with then-No. 1 Texas as an underdog. But the Bulldogs proved they are still contenders, defeating the Longhorns, 30-15, in Austin.

Referees threw a penalty flag that temporarily negated an interception that was run back for a Texas touchdown late in the third quarter. Boos quickly rained down from spectators inside Texas' Darrell K Royal — Texas Memorial Stadium, and some fans threw water bottles and other trash on the north end of the field.

The game was briefly delayed to give stadium personnel time to clean up.

Earlier this week, A-list actor and Texas alum Matthew McConaughey released a statement about the fan's reaction to the call, describing the littering as a "bogey move."

"First off, you were electric Saturday night when we hosted Georgia. Bravo. Let's continue to bring it. Even though our Horns didn't get the W, you created a measurable home-field advantage," McConaughey wrote.

"But let's get real about the bottle bombing the field glitch we had. Not cool. Bogey move. Yeah, that call was BS, but we're better than that. Longhorn Nation knows how to show up, show out like no other, and still keep our class. So, going forward, let's clean that kind of BS up and leave that behind us for good. We have to shake hands on that."

Before play resumed, officials decided to pick up the flag and announced there was no foul for pass interference against Texas.

The university denounced the fan's actions.

"This type of behavior will not be tolerated," a joint statement from Board of Regents Chairman Kevin Eltife, President Jay Hartzell and athletic director Chris Del Conte stated. "We are committed to fostering a positive environment for all participants, teams, officials and fans, and we will take steps to ensure that this type of behavior does not happen again."

The Southeastern Conference agreed with the referee's decision to overturn their initial call.

"The game officials gathered to discuss the play, which is permitted to ensure the proper penalty is enforced, at which time the calling official reported that he erred, and a foul should not have been called for defensive pass interference," the conference's statement said.

The SEC later announced Texas was fined $250,000, saying the game interruption violated its sportsmanship, game management and alcohol policies.

"While the original evaluation and assessment of the penalty was not properly executed, it is unacceptable to have debris thrown on the field at any time," the conference said.

Texas will also have to work to identify and suspend fans who were responsible for tossing debris on the field. The university's alcohol policies will also be reviewed.

"The throwing of debris and resulting interruption of play that took place Saturday night cannot be part of any SEC event," SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said. "The SEC is assigned responsibility by its membership to enforce its sportsmanship and game management policies, and these actions are consistent with that oversight responsibility, including the financial penalty and mandated reviews."

The win over Texas improved Georgia's record to 6-1. The Bulldogs jumped to the No. 2 spot in the latest AP Top 25, while Texas dropped to the fifth spot. The Longhorns are scheduled to play Vanderbilt in Nashville Oct. 26.

1. Matthew McConaughey

"Alright, alright, alright," Matthew McConaughey isn't just an actor. He's an author, too.

Before writing his children's book, he penned a memoir, "Greenlights," in 2020.

His children's book, "Just Because," was published by Penguin Random House in 2023 and poetically shares life lessons McConaughey has learned through his life.

For the McConaugheys, writing seemingly runs in the family. His wife, Camila Alves is also a published children's book author.

The former New England Patriot has published three versions of his story, "Flying High."

The books are about a small squirrel named Jules who dreams of playing football.

The three "Flying High" books were written in collaboration with Assaf Swissa and illustrated by David Leonard.

Edelman is also the author of a memoir titled "Relentless," that was published in 2017.

3. Reese Witherspoon

It comes as no surprise the founder of "Reese's Book Club" is also an author herself.

Reese Witherspoon started "Reese's Book Club" in 2017. The actress recommends a book to readers each month with a woman as the focus of the story.

Witherspoon is the author of three children's books.

The first of the "Busy Betty" books came out in 2022, followed by "Busy Betty & the Circus Surprise" in 2023 and "Busy Betty & the Perfect Christmas Present," released in October 2024.

In September 2023, with the release of "Busy Betty & the Circus Surprise," Witherspoon spoke on "Good Morning America" about the second book in the series.

"It's based on my childhood," Witherspoon said on the show. "She's a very spirited young girl who has all these crazy ideas about businesses she wants to build in her backyard."

"Her first business in the first book was a dog washing business and in this book, she actually throws a circus surprise party for her mother," Witherspoon went on to say.

Before "Busy Betty," Witherspoon wrote the book "Whiskey in a Teacup: What Growing Up in the South Taught Me About Life, Love, and Baking Biscuits," which was published in 2018.

4. Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum is known for films like "21 Jump Street," "Magic Mike" and "Foxcatcher." One of his other endeavors was penning a series of children's books.

The first in the series, "The One and Only Sparkella," was published in 2021. The second book, "The One and Only Sparkella Makes a Plan," was published in 2022. And the third of the series, "The One and Only Sparkella and the Big Lie," was published in 2023.

The children's books are inspired by Tatum's daughter, Everly "Evie" Tatum, whom he shares with ex-wife, Jenna Dewan.

"The first book happened really quick and easy," Tatum told People in 2022. "I had talked about my experience with Evie at a certain point in my life, and the book just came out. 5. Kelly Clarkson

Grammy-winning artist Kelly Clarkson published her first children's book in 2016, "River Rose and the Magical Lullaby."

Clarkson's daughter, River Rose, was the inspiration for the story about a girl who has plans to go to the zoo and is filled with so much excitement the day before the trip that she can't go to sleep.

Luckily, a lullaby by her mom is filled with magic that sends her off into a slumber filled with adventurous dreams.

A year later, Clarkson published a second book, "River Rose and the Magical Christmas."

6. Kevin Hart

Kevin Hart's comedy has been witnessed by large crowds while he performs standup and in movie theaters. He also entertains young readers with the release of his children's book, "Marcus Makes a Movie."

To date, there are two books in this series. The sequel, "Marcus Makes It Big," was published in 2022.

The first book is about a middle school student who dreams of making a superhero film. In the second book, Marcus must build off the success of his first movie and create another hit.

"I'm big on real life," Hart said when asked how he came up with the stories for his books. "I think art imitates real moments, real life. So, for me, it all stems from something that I've done, something that I can relate to."

7. Serena Williams

Tennis pro Serena Williams used her daughter's favorite doll as inspiration for her children's book, "The Adventures of Qai Qai," published in 2022.

"A little girl learns to believe in herself with the help of her doll and best friend, Qai Qai," the book's description says.

"We just wanted to really just put in people's minds that we can't forget how important it is to just use your imagination and play and also believe in yourself," Williams told "Good Morning America" in 2022. "So there's some really cool hidden messages in there about self-confidence and that you can do it and also just going back to the art of just being a kid."

8. Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman has had an extensive career in Hollywood, winning an Oscar in 2011 for her role in "Black Swan," playing first lady Jacqueline Kennedy in the 2016 movie "Jackie" and holding a role in several Marvel films.

In addition to her successful career in Hollywood, she also penned the children's book "Natalie Portman's Fables," which put a new twist on the classic stories "The Tortoise and the Hare," "The Three Little Pigs" and "Country Mouse and City Mouse."

The children's book was published in 2020 and features illustrations by Janna Mattia.

It looks like Ryan Reynolds has at least one thing in common with Camila Alves: They both love her husband, Matthew McConaughey.

Reynolds lauded the Texas-native on his Instagram story, calling him a "hunk of heaven" and thanking him for appearing in his movie, "Deadpool & Wolverine."

"At its best, this business is an actual community and showing up for each other is a great example of that," Reynolds stated beneath a photo of McConaughey as ‘Cowboypool’ from the film that he both starred in and produced.

The couple are already parents to sons Levi, 16, and Livingston, 11, as well as daughter, Vida, 14.

McConaughey isn't the only famous face to make a cameo in the film fronted by Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Both Henry Cavill and Chris Evans return to the superhero universe, but not as their best known identities, "Superman" and "Captain America," respectively.

Some other big names who make an appearance are Jennifer Garner, Wesley Snipes, Channing Tatum and Reynolds' wife, Blake Lively, as "Lady Deadpool."

The film debuted at the box office last month, breaking records and bringing in an estimated $205 million domestically from its opening weekend. After only 10 days in theaters, "Deadpool & Wolverine" was already the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever, not accounting for inflation.
