Elite school teacher known as 'Mr Wonderful' accused of heinous crimes against students

A former private school teacher, who was nicknamed "Mr. Wonderful," has been charged with three counts of rape involving two of his former students.

Matthew Rutledge, 64, walked into Berkshire Superior Court in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on Wednesday for his arraignment after Melissa Fares, 33, and Hilary Simon, 39, accused their teacher of abusing them when they were students at Miss Hall's School. The abuse allegedly happened between 2000 and 2010. He pleaded not guilty.

The allegations include claims Rutledge groomed and repeatedly abused students, according to statements released by the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.

"For a long time, I was living inside trauma without fully understanding it," Fares said in a statement shared by the Berkshire District Attorney's Office. "It was over the last several years that I began piecing together the truth of what happened to me: that Matt Rutledge had used me, abused me, and raped me. That I had been groomed and threatened into silence by a serial predator. That my youth wasn't my youth at all."

Simon said she was 15 years old when Rutledge first began "grooming" her, and that the abuse "continued for years" after she left campus.

"I fought this privately for 20 years," her statement read. "I have been fighting it publicly for two. Before any of this, I was just a normal person. A lawyer. A wife and a mother. A woman trying to build a life on top of something I had buried. And then Melissa Fares called. I did not know Melissa. I picked up the phone, and I told her I had been waiting for that call for 20 years."

According to NBC, citing a report prepared for Miss Hall’s School, Rutledge allegedly called out "Make way for Mr. Wonderful" as he moved through the hallways.

Fares and Simon said they discovered in 2024 that they had similar accounts of Rutledge’s alleged abuse and decided to pursue charges together.

Despite their allegations, the district attorney's office at the time declined to move forward with the case, citing Massachusetts' age of consent law at the time, which allowed for an adult to have sex with a person over the age of 16, according to the women.

The two women then pushed for legislation to close what they called a "legal loophole" and make it illegal for a teacher to have sex with a student.

Rutledge is now charged under separate rape statutes. Prosecutors have not publicly detailed what led to the decision to charge Rutledge.

Rutledge was indicted by the District Attorney's office last month.

Speaking at a press conference following the arraignment, Fares claimed to reporters that Miss Hall's School was aware of Rutledge’s alleged behavior.

"Miss Hall’s School knew," she said. "This whole school knew. They enabled a culture of abuse for decades. They failed us, our families and every girl trusted them to protect her. They must also be held accountable."

Miss Hall’s School said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital that it is cooperating with authorities and acknowledged the impact on its community.

"Wednesday’s arraignment was an important and painful moment for our community," the school said. "We will continue to cooperate fully with authorities. We are sorry for the harm that survivors have experienced and the impact on our community."

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for June 18, according to WCVB.

Local authorities in Massachusetts announced that they have arrested 17 people from across New England in connection to a shocking street takeover in a suburban Boston town.

The takeover occurred last October, according to Randolph, Massachusetts police, who said in a release that the incident was coordinated. During the event, the intersection of North Main Street and Oak Street was closed down while drivers, "performed drifting maneuvers and donuts in the roadway."

"Investigators determined that participants blocked intersections to allow drivers to perform stunts," the release said. "Spectators surrounded the area and recorded videos for social media."

Around 100 people were present at the organized event, according to police.

At one point during the bedlam, a firework appears to be set off in the windshield wiper cowl, with sparks flying into the cruiser's windshield.

All told, 16 people from five New England states and one person from New York have been charged in connection with the takeover.

William Scott Cantwell, 19, of Warwick, Rhode Island faces four charges, which include conspiracy, disorderly conduct, shoplifting by concealing merchandise and interfering with a police officer.

Three suspects, Divine Truth Norris Niles, 23, of Roxbury, Massachusetts, Nazeem Vincent McLeod, 20, of Worcester, Massachusetts, and Casey Rondeau, 20, of Farmington, Maine, were all charged with conspiracy, disorderly conduct and interfering with a police officer.

Jordan J. Ryan, 19, of Exeter, Rhode Island and Nahom Daniel Brook, 23, of Boston were charged with conspiracy and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

OUTnewcomers, an LGBTQ group in Boston, announced it returned city grant funding to the mayor’s office after its plans to offer LGBTQ migrants up to $500 in "wellness" perks, such as yoga classes and massages, clashed with local government's expectations for the funding.

"OUTnewcomers will be ceasing all related programming and will return any funds received for this initiative," the group said in a Friday press release.

The purpose and scope of the program, called "Belonging Matters," clashed with statements from city officials about their expectations for the grant, prompting questions about how Boston distributes and oversees grants to outside advocacy groups.

"No funds have been distributed or directed for these purposes," a city spokesperson told Fox News Digital in response to inquiries about the program.

According to Boston officials, OUTnewcomers was awarded a $7,500 mini-grant allocated from the 2026 budget.

The registration form for Belonging Matters offered applicants yoga, breathwork and meditation, gym memberships, creative arts, peer support, storytelling, nature-based wellness and hairstyling. If approved, the program promised applicants $250 to $500 in "wellness allowances" evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

But the organization later described the program as offering vouchers of $50 or less, creating a discrepancy between how the initiative was initially presented and how it was later characterized.

Even before returning the city’s grant funding, OUTnewcomers announced that it has paused Belonging Matters, citing "security concerns."

Hiker who set out in warm spring weather found dead after snowstorm in New Hampshire mountains

A Massachusetts hiker who set out in warm spring weather was found dead deep in New Hampshire’s White Mountains after a snowstorm dumped several inches of snow in the area, authorities said.

Kent Wood, 61, of West Roxbury, was discovered Tuesday evening on a remote section of the Kinsman Pond Trail in Franconia Notch, about 5.5 miles from his vehicle, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.

Wood had driven to Franconia Notch on April 17 for a weekend camping and hiking trip, and set out on a hike the next morning in warm, clear weather, officials said. Family and friends last heard from him Saturday afternoon.

When he failed to return or make contact for two days, officials said relatives reported him missing Tuesday morning, prompting a large-scale search.

A high school game turned dangerous in Massachusetts when teens playing a viral "Senior Assassin" game allegedly opened fire with gel projectiles on unsuspecting students, leaving two minors struck and a suspect now facing charges, police said.

Three high school-aged teens were running together Thursday afternoon when they were targeted and shot at with what appeared to be BB-style or gel projectiles, the Lawrence Police Department said.

Two of the victims were hit, while a third avoided being struck. Authorities said none suffered serious injuries.

Investigators quickly identified a local high school student as the suspect and recovered an Orbeez-style gel projectile gun believed to have been used in the incident.

The teen was taken into custody and now faces two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, police said. The teen’s identity was not immediately released.

The city of Boston is offering LGBTQ+ migrants vouchers for yoga, massages and meditation by partnering with a nonprofit organization.

"The City of Boston is partnering with a nonprofit to hand out $250 to $500 to LGBTQ+ migrants for yoga, meditation, massages, hair salon visits, acupuncture, and gym memberships," Mass Daily News reported Wednesday.

"The program, called ‘Belonging Matters,’ is a collaboration between OUTnewcomers and the Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement — a city agency under Mayor Michelle Wu. Priority goes to ‘low-income, isolated queer and trans migrants, asylum seekers and refugees.'"

The post continued, "Get $250-$500 for Your Well-Being" for yoga and meditation, creative healing, peer support, and gym membership.

The post added, "Priority for Low-Income, Trans & Isolated LGBTQ+ Migrants in Boston. All funds must be used within the City of Boston. APPLY NOW!"

In a subsequent post, however, OUTnewcomers criticized the coverage of the program by Mass Daily News and others, saying, "OUTnewcomers strongly condemns the recent coverage published by Mass Daily News and Daily Mail UK, which contains serious inaccuracies and harmful misrepresentations about our work.

"These outlets did not follow ethical reporting standards. Instead, they amplified a clickbait narrative that fuels hostility toward LGBTQ+ migrants and those who serve them."

OUTnewcomers announced a temporary pause to the Belonging Matters program on Thursday due to threats to Khan and participants in the program.

"This decision comes after the organization and its founder, Sal Khan, received multiple death threats and threats of being reported to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following the project’s public launch. These threats have created serious concerns for the safety and well-being of both leadership and the vulnerable community members the program serves," the announcement said.

Suspect arrested after housekeeper tied up, attacked in Massachusetts mansion heist

A suspect was arrested after a $20 million oceanfront Massachusetts mansion was broken into by two masked men, who allegedly attacked a housekeeper, tied her up and held her at gunpoint while reportedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in valuables.

Emajae Brown, 25, was charged with home invasion, kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, witness intimidation, armed assault in a dwelling, larceny over $1,200, breaking into a building at nighttime with the intent to commit a felony, larceny of a motor vehicle and armed burglary.

Brown was taken into custody in Gloucester and prosecutors argued he was a danger to the community, according to Boston 25 News.

On the morning of March 28, a neighbor on Paine Avenue in Beverly, Massachusetts, called 911 to report a home invasion.

Investigators learned that two armed suspects had broken into the mansion and assaulted and tied up a housekeeper who was inside the home before leaving with several valuable items. The housekeeper was the only person home at the time of the incident.

During the burglary, the suspects allegedly grabbed the housekeeper's phone and tossed it in the ocean, according to CBS Boston. They also allegedly made her find bleach and place valuable items in trash bags.

"What they did to my housekeeper was just horrendous," homeowner Thomas Swan III told WCVB last month after the heist.

"She was held at gunpoint, sometimes dragged by her hair, ultimately tied up and left in the garage. She’s really, really special, but truly traumatized by this, truly traumatized," he added.

After the suspects left, the housekeeper escaped and went to a neighbor’s home to call for help. She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

"She went on to tell investigators the suspect was pointing a firearm at her head and escorting her around the home," a prosecutor said in court on Tuesday, according to CBS Boston.

One robber fled the scene with several valuables, including money and gold, in a Porsche stolen from the home. That vehicle was later located by police several miles away near a cemetery in Lynn.

Ring cameras were able to locate Brown, who was tracked through phone surveillance to New York City, where he was allegedly meeting with a jewelry dealer, according to Boston 25 News.

Local and federal authorities eventually found more than $300,000 and numerous gold items in his car, the outlet reported.

Police also said Brown was the ex-boyfriend of another housekeeper who worked at the home. The prosecutor said they learned that Brown had an open domestic charge from an incident at the Encore Boston Harbor casino.

Brown was ordered held without bail until the next hearing on April 21.

Teens suspected of murdering congressional intern linked by DNA on shell casings, prosecutors say

DNA evidence has linked two of the teenagers charged in the shooting death of a University of Massachusetts student who was working as a congressional intern in Washington, D.C. last summer, prosecutors alleged.

Government attorneys told Washington, D.C. Superior Court Judge Danya Dayson during a Friday status hearing that testing on shell casings recovered at the scene produced an overwhelming statistical match to Jailen Lucas, and that DNA also ties Kelvin Thomas to the shooting.

"I did want to note for the Court that there was inculpatory results with respect to several items. Specifically, on two intermediate cartridge casings, there was single-source DNA profiles in both of them for Jailen Lucas in the septillion likelihood ratio. Additionally, there was inculpatory results for a Bic lighter that was in the car for both Mr. Jailen Lucas and Mr. Naqwan Lucas. And then in the front seat driver's side, there was inculpatory results for Mr. Kelvin Thomas," Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin DeRiso said.

The two suspects, who were both 17 at the time of the shooting, are charged as adults with first-degree murder while armed in the killing of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, 21, of Granby, Massachusetts.

Lucas and Thomas were arrested Sept. 5. On Oct. 31, a third suspect, identified as 18-year-old Naqwan Antonio Lucas of the District of Columbia, was arrested in Montgomery Village and also charged in Tarpinian-Jachym's murder.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for May 15. The trial is expected to begin in February. Tarpinian-Jachym's mother declined to comment when contacted by Fox News Digital.

A Biden-appointed federal judge twice rebuked by the Supreme Court temporarily blocked another Trump administration immigration priority, postponing the termination of temporary protected status (TPS) for Ethiopians living in the U.S.

Judge Brian Murphy of Massachusetts, who has become a frequent legal hurdle for the Trump administration, found that the Department of Homeland Security did not follow proper protocols when it decided to cancel the TPS of more than 5,000 Ethiopians in the United States.

DHS' decision would have made the migrants eligible for deportation in 60 days and aligned with the Trump administration's goal of dramatically narrowing the government's use of TPS as part of its immigration crackdown.

Conservatives lashed out at Murphy on social media for dealing another loss to the president they perceived as unjust. Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., said the ruling was not subject to judicial review under federal immigration law. Murphy had found that DHS did not meet the necessary conditions under the law to legally cancel TPS.

"This Rogue Judge lacks the subject matter jurisdiction to issue this order," Schmitt said. "The assault on the rule of law continues."

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley pointed to his writings on Murphy, saying "this system cannot function with such rogue operators at the trial level."

Murphy emerged as a thorn to the government when he issued a series of rulings last year blocking DHS from deporting migrants to countries other than their nations of origin, leading the Supreme Court to twice reverse his rulings, including by issuing a rare 7-2 clarification saying that Murphy had flouted the high court's order.

His recent order doubling down on his prior rulings in the case was blocked by an appeals court last month.

Murphy noted that he was not bucking the Supreme Court with his TPS opinion after the justices issued a string of emergency rulings green-lighting the cancellation of TPS for some countries, while holding off on addressing it for others.

"Note that the Supreme Court gave no explanation for its recent stays of related, but not identical, district court orders. … Nor did the Supreme Court explain its subsequent decision not to stay the district court orders in two consolidated," Murphy wrote, saying, therefore, that there was "no reason to assume" the Supreme Court’s opinion on TPS.

Iowa Solicitor General Eric Wessan said the law did not permit judges to weigh in on TPS and noted the Supreme Court's position.

"One big problem for Murphy is the statute: It explains TPS determinations aren't reviewable. Another is the Supreme Court, which has stopped similar orders twice!" Wessan said. "He finds neither statute nor SCOTUS stops him. I'm unconvinced."

Last month, Murphy also temporarily blocked Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s vaccine overhaul, finding Kennedy's revised immunization plan reducing the number of vaccines required for children likely violated the law. The move prompted fierce criticism from conservatives, who accused Murphy of activism and selectively weighing "science" in the case.

The TPS lawsuit, brought this year by an immigration advocacy group and three Ethiopians with protected status, alleged that DHS violated immigration laws and acted with animus by unconstitutionally discriminating against Ethiopian migrants.

DHS canceled TPS for a string of countries, "the apparent goal of which is to significantly reduce the number of non-white and non-European immigrants in the United States," the plaintiffs' lawyers wrote in the complaint.

"That animus and related rhetoric have been particularly stark for the nationals of majority Black countries," the lawyers wrote.

The Department of Justice could appeal Murphy's ruling, leading to another legal escalation of a prominent case before him. Fox News Digital reached out to the DOJ and Murphy's chambers for comment.

Boston University president apologizes after pride flag removal sparks backlash

The president of Boston University has apologized after pride flags were removed from office windows over spring break.

"Our university and our policies exist within a larger social context — one that is dynamic and complex," Melissa Gilliam, president of Boston University, wrote in a message Monday sent to students, faculty and staff.

"In the public conversation about Boston University’s time, place, and manner policies, that spotlight has fallen disproportionately on our LGBTQIA+ community, and I have heard how difficult and painful that has been. I am deeply sorry."

BU’s Publications & Publicity Policy states that putting up "signs, posters, and fliers is permitted only on authorized bulletin boards. Materials may not be placed on walls, doors, windows, or trees, and may not be attached with permanent adhesives."

The student newspaper, The Daily Free Press, reported that the "policy’s enforcement has led to the recent removal of pride flags and political messages from office windows — drawing scrutiny and prompting protest from faculty, students and advocacy organizations."

BU Today, Boston University’s daily website, posted an editor’s note to a March 24 article about university signage saying that, on Monday, Gilliam announced Boston University would temporarily stop removing outward-facing signs.

The Boston Globe reported that Keith Vincent, a professor in the women’s gender and sexuality studies department, which had a pride flag removed from its office window over spring break, is thankful for the message.

"Issues of speech can be complicated, but our institutional values are not. Let me be unequivocal: LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, and staff are an essential part of Boston University," Gilliam said.

Plane door opens in midair moments after takeoff, leaving flight passengers stunned and social media buzzing

A Cape Air flight was forced to return to Nantucket, Massachusetts, on Monday shortly after takeoff when part of its cabin door opened in midair.

The small plane had just departed from Nantucket Memorial Airport (ACK) and was on its way to Boston when the issue occurred, according to news outlet Nantucket Current.

An Instagram video recorded by a passenger on board shows the upper section of the main cabin door partially opening mid-flight — with plenty of commenters immediately weighing in on the incident.

Despite what happened, the aircraft remained stable and continued to operate normally.

Fox News Digital reached out to Cape Air for comment about the incident.

Passengers were later transferred to another aircraft to complete their trip to Boston, with several praising the pilot for remaining calm under pressure.

"The pilot was amazing," a passenger told the Current. "The pilot did not panic but safely brought us back around the island to land. Probably flew for about 6 to 8 minutes with the door open."

The airline confirmed the incident to the local outlet.

"The aircraft was at a stable altitude and operated normally. The flight crew returned to ACK, and the aircraft landed safely without further incident," the airline's statement said.

That particular aircraft has since been taken out of service as the company investigates what caused the issue.

"We are following all established safety procedures and will take any necessary actions based on our findings," the company said — adding that passenger safety remains its top priority.

Man sentenced for strangling Massachusetts college student to death with tank top in cold case killing

A man convicted of strangling a Massachusetts college student with a tank top nearly four decades ago was sentenced Thursday to life in prison.

The sentence handed down to John Carey, 66, came after he was convicted on March 3 of first-degree murder in the death of Salem State University student Claire Gravel.

"The family of Claire Gravel has waited 40 long years for justice," said Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker. "The prosecutors here today, together with our partners in law enforcement, never gave up on Claire’s case, and today we are pleased that at least the family has some answers—some closure."

Carey was already serving time at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Concord for an unrelated 2008 conviction when he was charged with Gravel's murder.

A Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three young children is offering to formally admit she killed them in a dramatic legal move that could shift the focus of her trial to her mental state — and potentially keep her out of prison.

Lindsay Clancy, who was a Duxbury labor and delivery nurse, is willing to formally admit in writing to her role in the killings, according to a new motion filed by defense attorney Kevin Reddington.

The filing, obtained by WCVB5, comes just one week after a judge denied Clancy’s request to split her trial into separate phases that would have divided the question of whether she committed the acts from her mental state at the time.

In asking the court to reconsider, Reddington argued that Clancy’s admission would leave her mental condition as the central issue for a jury to decide. The filing states that she is willing to formally acknowledge her involvement in the conduct that led to the deaths of her three children.

If she is ultimately deemed mentally unfit to stand trial, she could be committed to a secure mental health facility rather than face prison under Massachusetts law.

Clancy was indicted in September 2023 on three counts of murder and strangulation in connection with the deaths of her children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan.

Prosecutors allege that Clancy used exercise bands to strangle the children inside the family’s Duxbury home on Jan. 24, 2023, before attempting to take her own life.

According to court documents, she had taken one of her children to a pediatrician appointment earlier that day and contacted a CVS pharmacy about a prescription. She also ordered takeout from a local restaurant and used Apple Maps to calculate travel time from her home.

Investigators say she then asked her husband to pick up the food and medication, leaving her alone with the children.

Authorities later executed multiple search warrants and collected items from the home, including exercise bands, medications, electronic devices, notebooks, clothing and a knife.

Clancy’s defense team has indicated it will argue she was suffering from severe postpartum depression and was overmedicated at the time of the killings.

Court records show she had been prescribed a number of psychiatric medications, including Zoloft, Prozac, Valium, Ativan, Klonopin, Trazodone and Seroquel.

Her husband previously told a family friend he was concerned she may have been experiencing withdrawal from an anxiety medication in the weeks before the tragedy.

Clancy has also filed a lawsuit against her medical providers, alleging a catastrophic failure in diagnosing and treating her mental health condition.

Clancy remains paralyzed from the chest down following her suicide attempt, her attorney has said, and is being held at Tewksbury State Hospital where she continues to receive psychiatric care under constant supervision.

ICE nabs 5 illegal immigrants wanted for murder abroad in New England crackdown

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Boston announced the arrests of five illegal immigrants over the past month who are wanted for murder and other violent crimes in their home countries, including several subjects of Interpol Red Notices.

The agency said in a series of posts on X that ‘‘each illegally entered the United States during the Biden administration's disastrous open border policy.’’

ICE said the migrants were apprehended in New England and are wanted overseas for serious violent offenses, including homicide and attempted homicide.

‘‘ERO Boston has always been—and will continue to be—strongly committed to targeted enforcement actions against the most dangerous criminal aliens, ensuring the safety and security of our New England communities,’’ ICE Boston said.

City’s BLM-era mental health push puts cops in danger after sword-wielding suspect stabs officer: police

Boston officials spent the years after George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter protests pushing a mental health-first response model meant to reduce the role of police in psychiatric emergencies. But that strategy came under scrutiny Saturday after police said a man in crisis stabbed an officer.

The city’s flagship approach is built on the long-running Boston Emergency Services Team, or BEST, a partnership that Boston police say has been in place since 2011.

After the 2020 unrest, however, City Hall moved to expand and elevate that model. In April 2021, Boston launched a pilot explicitly aimed at increasing the role of mental health workers and decreasing the role of police in crisis calls.

The policy shift was on display on Saturday.

Police Commissioner Michael Cox said officers were called around 10:45 a.m. after a man reported that four armed people outside his apartment near Northeastern University wanted to harm him.

Officers could not find anyone matching that description but spoke with the caller through the door and then requested EMS and a mental health clinician, through the BEST program, after concluding he was in immediate need of psychiatric help.

According to Cox, EMS and the clinician spent roughly 35 to 45 minutes talking with the man from outside the apartment and trying to persuade him to come out for treatment.

Instead, police said, he suddenly emerged carrying a sword, stabbed a Boston officer in the arm and knocked the clinician to the ground.

"One or more officers fired a Taser and their firearm at the individual, bringing the person to a halt," the commissioner said. "EMS immediately provided medical attention. Unfortunately, the person succumbed to the injuries."

The person has not been immediately identified.

The officer stabbed was given a tourniquet on scene before being taken to the hospital. Several officers and two EMS clinicians were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden.

"Today serves as a reminder of the dangers inherent in this work and the sacrifice our members make every day. Members of Boston EMS show up to save lives — not to be assaulted. No one should face violence for simply doing their job," Boston EMS said in a statement.

Department of Education investigates Massachusetts school district over transgender bathroom policy

FIRST ON FOX: The Department of Education has launched an investigation into a Massachusetts public school district for allegedly allowing students at K-12 schools to use bathrooms and locker rooms based on their self-defined gender identity, rather than biological sex, while forcing students to integrate and preventing parents from changing the policy.

Westford Public Schools’ (WPS) policy surrounding "Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Students" allows students to use restrooms and locker rooms of the opposite sex while forcing other students who object to leave, according to America First Legal (AFL), which originally filed the complaint that prompted the investigation.

"America First Legal is committed to ensuring that children are protected from leftist Indoctrination," AFL President Gene Hamilton told Fox News Digital in a statement. "We will not allow our girls to be silenced or harmed by WPS’s ‘gender identity’ policy. The Department of Education’s investigation rightfully sends a clear message to schools across the country: Title IX will not be sacrificed on the altar of gender ideology."

VIRGINIA SCHOOL DISTRICT VOTES TO KEEP GENDER BATHROOM POLICY, DEFYING DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION DIRECTIVE

The same policy allegedly allows girls to enter boys' facilities as well, forcing students who disagree with the policy or may be of the opposite sex to leave the bathroom or locker room.

The Department of Education told Fox News Digital that an investigation into WPS has been opened.

The policy, which appears to have been removed from the WPS website, also included policies surrounding gender identities, pronoun usage, and defines terms like "gender nonconforming."

When the policy was being debated prior to its implementation in March 2025, WestfordCAT reported that one school board committee member said that staff could also be affected by not allowing the use of opposite-sex facilities based on gender identity.

"I know that we have students, possibly staff, that this impacts," WPS committee member Tom Laflamme said. "They are real people who are harmed by taking no action. The policy may not be perfect because we are humans, but it makes a statement that they matter to us."

The policy was implemented after President Donald Trump signed an executive order titled: "Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism And Restoring Biological Truth To The Federal Government" on his first day in office, Jan. 20, 2025.

"Across the country, ideologues who deny the biological reality of sex have increasingly used legal and other socially coercive means to permit men to self-identify as women and gain access to intimate single-sex spaces and activities designed for women, from women’s domestic abuse shelters to women’s workplace showers," the executive order reads. "This is wrong."

Painter sues Bill Belichick over injuries allegedly suffered while working at his home

North Carolina Tar Heels football coach Bill Belichick was sued on Thursday over an alleged incident that occurred at his Massachusetts home in June 2024.

Painter Andrew Jackson sued Forty Five Fair Street LLC, a company managed by Belichick, in Nantucket Superior Court. Jackson said in his lawsuit that "construction practices created an unsafe work area for workers at the premises" and, because of that, he suffered injuries after a fall.

"As a direct and proximate result of the fall, plaintiff sustained serious bodily injuries including a severe right ankle injury, together with pain, disability, medical expenses, lost wages, and other consequential damages," the lawsuit stated.

The filing added that Jackson received workers’ compensation benefits after the fall but "retains his rights to pursue this third-party negligence action against non-employer responsible parties."

The lawsuit said that Belichick’s company should have made sure the construction site was in a safe-working condition.

"Defendant breached its duties by, among other things: a. causing, permitting, or allowing unsafe conditions to exist at the premises; b. failing to maintain the work area in a reasonably safe condition; c. failing to inspect the premises adequately; d. failing to remedy hazardous conditions it knew or should have known about; e. failing to warn Plaintiff of dangerous conditions; and f. otherwise acting negligently in the ownership, operation, management, supervision, maintenance, and control of the premises."

Jackson is seeking nearly $300,000, according to the Nantucket Current, which first reported the lawsuit.

The two Democrat politicians took the field at Fenway Park before Friday's game against the San Diego Padres for a pregame ceremony.

And the 36,000-plus fans in attendance showered the Democrats with relentless boos.

Footage of the booing went viral on social media, providing a boasting opportunity for Massachusetts' GOP gubernatorial hopefuls.

One of those candidates, Brian Shortsleeve, said in an X video, "Hey, everybody, coming to you from Fenway Park. Here’s a quick update: It’s a beautiful afternoon. The Red Sox are up by one. Maura Healey and Michelle Wu just got booed very loudly."

In another post, he wrote, "It was even louder in person!"

Another candidate, Mike Minogue, posted a video of Healey and Wu being booed, writing, "Looks like fans want someone else up to bat."

Healey on Thursday demanded that two private airline companies stop providing flights for ICE to quickly remove illegal immigrants who have been detained, citing a recent ICE-involved shooting in Minneapolis.

In October, one of Healey's aides was arrested for cocaine trafficking after investigators intercepted packages with the drug slated to be delivered to a state office building where he worked, prosecutors said.

Wu has been a target of frequent controversy due to her resistance to immigration enforcement.

Former FBI agent suggests inside job in Massachusetts mansion heist as 'specific and valuable' items stolen

After news of a major heist at a $20 million seaside Massachusetts mansion, one former FBI investigator says details provided by the home's owner could point to an inside job.

"It certainly sounds to me pretty clear that there was some inside information about this property, about the home, and more so about the specific valuables that were taken," Bill Daly told Fox News Digital, adding that unless certain items were widely and publicly known to be inside the home, investigators will likely hone in on potential suspects who had access to the property.

Daly was an investigator and counterintelligence operative for the federal law enforcement agency.

Beverly, Massachusetts police said the brazen robbery occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday, and that a neighbor called the police at 8:50 a.m., alerting them of the crime. The opulent 27,000-square-foot mansion rests on ocean front property northeast of Boston.

"Through an investigation, Beverly Police determined that an armed suspect had broken into the home and assaulted and tied up the home’s sole occupant before stealing several items from the house, including a vehicle, which the suspect used to leave the scene," the agency said.

Thomas Swan III owns the luxe property, and told WCVB that the victim was his housekeeper.

"What they did to my housekeeper was just horrendous," Swan said. "She was held at gunpoint, sometimes dragged by her hair, ultimately tied up and left in the garage. She’s really, really special, but truly traumatized by this, truly traumatized."

The housekeeper was pistol-whipped by the suspect during the home invasion, according to NBC Boston.

Swan added that the items taken from the home were "some very specific and valuable things."

The robber reportedly fled the scene in a Porsche stolen from the home, which was ultimately located by police several miles away in the town of Lynn, Massachusetts.

Daly noted that the tactics used by the suspect differ from those typically found in high-profile targeted robberies involving expensive items.

"It is interesting in this case that [the suspect] appears to have abused, pistol-whipped and perhaps even dragged the housekeeper by her hair," said Daly. "It's different from the typical method of operation. If you look at the people who robbed the gems and the art out of the Louvre, they were sleek, they kind of blended in, they didn't hurt anyone in the process. And you see that often when you talk about high net worth break-ins or you hear about valuables taken from art galleries or from museums."

"It's done in a much more low-key fashion. This one was much more brazen, and also seems to be a little bit bordering, kind of a bit thuggish, if you will."

The Beverly Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police are currently investigating.

The Massachusetts State Lottery announced last week that a $2 million Powerball ticket was sold at the Old South Diner in Nantucket, Massachusetts — marking the fifth million-dollar prize linked to the location in just two years.

The winning ticket belonged to Mary Haley, a longtime Nantucket resident, news outlet Nantucket Current reported.

"It’s very exciting to have a local resident win," Haley told the outlet.

The location is one of the top-performing lottery retailers in Massachusetts — ranking in the top 10% statewide, the Current noted.

Since its streak of big wins began in March 2024, lottery sales at the diner have surged by 37%, increasing its share of the local market, the outlet said.

The run of luck started when a $1 million scratch ticket was sold there in March 2024, followed by a $2 million winner in June and another $1 million prize in August of the same year.

Fox News Digital reached out to Mary Haley and the diner for comment.

"The more tickets a store sells, the more likely they are to have a big winner," Rachel Guerra, the Massachusetts Lottery's deputy director of communications, told the Current.

Massachusetts authorities are searching for an armed suspect accused of robbing a $20 million mansion and tying up a housekeeper in an elaborate heist.

The incident unfolded around 8:50 a.m. on Saturday, after a neighbor called 911 to report a home invasion at the 27,000-square-foot estate in Beverly, according to WCVB.

Investigators said the suspect attacked and tied up the housekeeper, who was the only person home at the time, before making off with several items, the outlet reported.

The robber fled the scene in a Porsche stolen from the home, which was ultimately located by police several miles away in Lynn, WCVB reported.

A former Massachusetts police officer has been found not guilty of attempting to shoot a brother in blue after she testified she was trying to kill herself as officers arrived at her home to serve a restraining order filed by her ex-fiancé.

Kelsey Fitzsimmons, a 29-year-old former North Andover police officer, went to trial after she was charged with a single count of assault with a dangerous weapon after prosecutors alleged she pointed a gun at a fellow officer, Patrick Noonan, and attempted to fire it on June 25, 2025.

However, Fitzsimmons vehemently denied the allegations, instead insisting she was attempting to kill herself when officers arrived at her home to serve a restraining order obtained by her fiancé, Justin Aylaian, and take custody of her young child.

"I didn't want to involve anybody. I wanted to take my own life," she said earlier this week. "I never pointed the gun at a fellow police officer. It never happened."

The verdict was handed down by Judge Jeffrey Karp after nearly four hours of deliberations on Thursday, according to WCVB.

Karp decided the case because Fitzsimmons reportedly waived her right to a trial by jury.

"I think that Ms. Fitzsimmons, Officer Noonan and all the people involved in the tragic events of June 30, 2025, deserve an explanation," Karp said before delivering his decision, according to WCVB.

"I am left with a reasonable doubt, and I am duty-bound to find that the Commonwealth has not met its burden to prove that Ms. Fitzsimmons committed an assault by means of a dangerous weapon," he said. "My verdict is, and must be, not guilty."

Karp added he found no evidence Fitzsimmons had been the victim of a conspiracy.

"I saw no evidence of a conspiracy in this case. What I saw was dedicated public servants, like Officer Noonan and his fellow officers, doing the best they could under rapidly evolving, emotional circumstances," Karp said.

Fitzsimmons was shot by Noonan after allegedly pointing a gun at him and was later arrested and arraigned on one count of armed assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

She was indicted in Essex Superior Court, but a grand jury ultimately chose to maintain just one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Upon taking the stand Wednesday, Fitzsimmons recalled the moment she was shot by Noonan.

"I went into like a huge adrenaline shock. It didn't feel like normal pain. It almost felt like absent pain, but it felt like my entire body was burning, and I was completely alert, completely awake the whole time," Fitzsimmons said.

"I was speaking as much as I could. My lung was punctured, so that's why I was having trouble breathing, but other than that, I was very alert and aware of my surroundings."

Immediately after the shooting, Fitzsimmons reportedly said the fire department and additional resources transported her from her home to a hospital, where she repeatedly told them she "wanted to die" after authorities arrived to serve the restraining order and take custody of her 4-month-old child.

"They brought me outside, and I think when I was still in my house, one of the firefighters was trying to put oxygen on my face, and I was taking it off and just saying, 'I want to die, I want to die, I want to die.'"

In closing statements, defense attorney Tim Bradl pointed to the possibility that Noonan made the decision to shoot Fitzsimmons too quickly, according to the outlet.

"He's the only one with the Rambo story," Bradl said. "Everyone else has what Kelsey says. He walks into a suicide in progress. He sees it. He reacts. 'Kelsey no, Kelsey no.' Bam. Bam. Brain freeze. Mistake. He has to cover it up."

However, prosecuting attorney James Gubitose reportedly held up Fitzsimmons' empty gun during his closing, insisting that evidence contradicted Fitzsimmons' testimony while praising Noonan’s police training.

"It's impossible to have happened the way she said it," Gubitose said. "It is scientifically, mechanically impossible for it to happen the way she said."

In a statement to Fox News Digital, the Essex County District Attorney's Office added that the indictment "was brought in good faith, supported by credible police testimony and corroborated by the physical evidence," and "while respecting the judge's verdict, we disagree."

"We also commend the professionalism and civility of prosecutors involved in this highly public and emotionally charged case as well as this being an instance of police officers acting to the best of their ability during a tragic and rapidly evolving incident. The work of police officers, particularly in cases involving restraining orders, is extremely dangerous, and I recognize their dedication, courage and willingness to serve."

Fitzsimmons' attorney did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Harvard student says Jewish classmates feel 'unwelcome' as multibillion dollar DOJ lawsuit looms

A Harvard student said Jewish students on campus feel "unwelcome" in certain classrooms amid a new multibillion-dollar lawsuit from the Trump administration over the school's mishandling of antisemitism.

Last week, Trump’s Department of Justice filed a 44-page lawsuit against the Ivy League institution for "[failing] to protect its Jewish students," and Harvard sophomore Tejas Billa told Fox News Digital that the university failed to implement all the steps to combat antisemitism the school said they would.

"Jewish students and Israeli students feeling very unwelcome in certain courses to do with the Israel-Palestine conflict," Billa told Fox. "More broadly, I don't think all of the steps that the task force outlined to address it have actually been implemented. It's great to come out with a task force report, but it really necessitates action on the part of Harvard."

"I really hope that Harvard and the administration can reach some sort of negotiated settlement that keeps the research funding that is so important to Harvard while also addressing the really, really widespread and critical instances of bias and anti-Semitism that we found in the report and haven't fully addressed," Billa added.

The Trump administration announced the lawsuit last week, with Attorney General Pam Bondi criticizing the rise in antisemitism and the universities that "allowed" sentiments to exist at schools across the country.

"Since October 7th, 2023, too many of our educational institutions have allowed anti-Semitism to flourish on campus – Harvard included," Bondi said in a statement. "[This lawsuit] underscores the Trump Administration’s commitment to demanding better from our nation’s schools and putting an end to discriminatory behavior that harms students."

Robert Kennedy Jr. also weighed in on the suit, noting the significant amount of federal funding that is pouring into various educational institutions.

"Every student deserves to learn without fear of harassment or exclusion," the Health and Human Services secretary said. "When institutions take taxpayer dollars, they accept a duty to protect civil rights. We hold Harvard accountable on the principle that antisemitism has no place in any program funded by the American people."

Last April, the Ivy League school revealed the findings of an internal task force investigation into antisemitism at Harvard. Their findings showed that nearly 40% of Jewish students do not feel "at home" at the university.

The task force’s report also found roughly 26% of Jewish students felt "physically unsafe."

Harvard University President Alan Garber apologized following the report’s release, while acknowledging the antisemitism that existed on campus.

"I am sorry for the moments when we failed to meet the high expectations we rightfully set for our community," Garber said in a letter. "The grave, extensive impact of the October 7, 2023, Hamas assault on Israel and its aftermath had serious repercussions on our campus."

During Billa’s interview with Fox News Digital, he said one potential solution could involve determining just how "left-leaning" the faculty at the top university really is.

"I think there should be a broader diversity of viewpoints that we see among the professors," Billa explained. "We'll do a faculty survey, and it will show that the professors themselves are overwhelmingly left-leaning, and that can't possibly get every valid viewpoint to an issue."

Billa also noted that students are fearful of speaking on hot topics because they are worried about conflicting opinions with professors impacting their grades.

"On the other hand, a lot of students are feeling hesitant or afraid to speak up in class on controversial issues," Billa continued. "Most of the graduating seniors actually reported that they would not speak up in class out of fear of being canceled or fear of perhaps grading impacts."

A spokesperson for Harvard told Fox News Digital that they have implemented policies to combat antisemitism and said the university "cares deeply about members of our Jewish and Israeli community."

"Harvard has taken substantive, proactive steps to address the root causes of antisemitism and actively enforces anti-harassment and anti-discrimination rules and policies on campus," the spokesperson explained. "We also have enhanced training and education on antisemitism for students, faculty, and staff and launched programs to promote civil dialogue and respectful disagreement inside and outside the classroom. Harvard’s efforts demonstrate the very opposite of deliberate indifference."

House Democrat bans staff from betting on prediction markets, citing ethics concerns

Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts has banned staffers from betting on prediction markets on issues pertaining to politics and any information obtained in an official capacity.

"Congressman Seth Moulton (MA-06) today became the first Member of Congress to institute an office-wide policy prohibiting staff from participating in prediction market platforms—such as Polymarket and Kalshi—to trade or hold positions on political, legislative, regulatory, geopolitical outcomes, or any information that is learned in an official capacity," a Wednesday press release asserted.

Prediction markets allow people to wager on what they expect to happen in the future on a vast array of topics, touching upon areas such as sports, business, politics, world affairs and pop culture.
