Comedian Bill Maher revealed to Vice President JD Vance that he could consider voting Republican in 2028.

Appearing on Friday’s episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher," Vance and Maher sparred over the future of the Republican Party amid the rise of Democratic socialism, with Maher confessing he could flip his vote red under certain conditions.

"If this is where the Democratic Party is going — this obsession with Israel, with the Jew-hating, they don’t believe in capitalism, no prisons. If this is where they’re going, my vote is in play," Maher told Vance.

Maher added that he has never voted along party lines and prefers the candidate who he sees as best fit to lead the country.

"Every year, I don’t make my decision by who has an R or a D. I actually always came to the conclusion that the Democrat was probably better and voted for them," Maher said.

He went on to say that he would consider voting Republican but only if the party would concede in future elections.

"It’s either going to be you or Rubio," Maher continued. "Here’s my deal-breaker for your side: Under Trump, you guys have two outcomes that an election can be, either we win or they cheated. That s--- has to stop. And that means the person who has to stop it will be you or Marco. Can you tell me you will do that?"

Vance, however, doubled down on his belief that previous elections had involved a level of censorship.

"OK, Bill, so this is where I’m probably going to lose you here," Vance said. "I don’t think we should not concede elections, but I don’t think that’s what’s going on.

"The biggest criticism I had of the 2020 election is that you had technology companies that were quite literally censoring negative information about the left and promoting negative information about the right."

"I’m just glad you’re talking to me, you know?" Maher told the vice president. "I mean, I say it every time. The Republicans come here, and they take their beating like a man.

Vance asked if New York City democratic socialist Darializa Avila Chevalier would appear on Maher’s show after her historic upset win earlier this week, when she unseated incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat in the Democratic primary for New York’s 13th Congressional District.

"I can’t get [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez]. I can’t get Mamdani. I couldn’t get Kamala Harris. Took me eight years to get Obama," Maher replied.

ABC touts JD Vance interview amid FCC’s war with ‘The View’ over equal time for political candidates

As Disney and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) bicker over whether "The View" is a bona fide news program, ABC is celebrating the significant audience bump the reliably liberal show received for booking a high-powered Republican.

ABC News announced on Tuesday that last week’s edition of "The View" featuring Vice President JD Vance was the show’s most-watched episode in more than 18 months. Vance’s appearance attracted 3.3 million viewers to the daytime gabfest and the only episode of "The View" since January 2021 to outdraw the VP sit-down came on November 6, 2024, during post-Election Day coverage.

ABC News’ press release touting the viewership success didn’t mention the FCC but came on the heels of the Disney-owned station launching an ad campaign urging viewers to support "The View."

ABC LAUNCHES ON-AIR CAMPAIGN ENCOURAGING VIEWERS TO SUPPORT ‘THE VIEW’ IN BATTLE WITH TRUMP’S FCC

Earlier this year, the FCC launched an investigation into ABC's "The View" amid the agency's crackdown on equal time for political candidates after Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico appeared on the show. Disney’s ABC believes "The View" is bona fide news and, therefore, exempt from the equal time rule.

ABC’s new campaign features a petition to declare that "The View" indeed qualifies as a bona fide news interview program. A commercial debuted Monday during the program that declared, "’The View has welcomed your favorite guests for nearly 30 years. Now the FCC wants to control who is allowed to appear on the show. Tell the FCC to let the viewers decide. You have until July 6th."

ABC’s campaign will also run online and across ABC social media platforms. When reached for comment, the FCC accused Disney of "misleading" viewers.

Also on Monday, Media Research Center (MRC) penned a letter to the FCC insisting that the show fails to meet the "bona fide news" standards that would make it exempt from the equal time rule. The MRC provided the FCC with "2,473 separate pieces of evidence documenting The View’s pervasive bias," according to the letter.

"Anyone who watches the show knows it’s political advocacy masquerading as news. Our filing demonstrates that ‘The View’ is a one-sided platform that promotes one political viewpoint while shutting out the other. ABC should not receive special regulatory treatment intended for bona fide news programs," MRC President David Bozell told Fox News Digital.

In January, the FCC announced it would require the broadcast networks to adhere to the "statutory equal opportunities requirement," citing the Communications Act of 1934, "including their airing of late-night and daytime talk shows."

There has been a longstanding "bona fide" exception for news programming that wouldn't require equal time for an opposing candidate, but the FCC now says it "has not been presented with any evidence that the interview portion of any late-night or daytime television talk show program on the air presently would qualify for the 'bona fide' news exemption."

"The View" has been famously anti-Trump for years, frequently criticizing the president and members of his administration. The show had a total of 341 guests in 2025, but only two of them were conservative, while 128 were liberal, according to a study conducted by the Media Research Center's NewsBusters.

Vance joined the show alongside all six co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro. It’s unclear if the success of Vance’s appearance will lead to more Republicans joining the show.

US official says JD Vance made 'great progress' in Iran talks, calls snub reports 'foreign propaganda'

FIRST ON FOX: A U.S. official involved with the U.S.-Iran peace negotiations said that Vice President JD Vance made "great progress" in the talks, adding that "foreign propaganda" spread a falsehood that the prime minister of Qatar snubbed Vance.

The U.S. official told Fox News Digital that Iranian state media originated reports of Vance being snubbed by the Qatari prime minister and Iranian leadership threatening to walk away from the negotiating table.

"The vice president and the U.S. delegation departed Switzerland today after making great progress and engaging in historic talks that lasted well into the late hours over the weekend," a U.S. official present at the talks told Fox News Digital. "The negotiations set the framework for continued talks so that the unmatched efforts of the president can lead to a deal that’s best for the American people."

"Those parroting foreign propaganda serve no one except the bad faith actors that want to derail negotiations," the official added.

As Vance and White House officials deliberated a peace agreement at the Bürgenstock resort on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland, a CBS poll on Sunday showed that an overwhelming 78% of Americans say that the conflict between the U.S. and Iran should come to an end.

Reports from Iranian state media created confusion about the progress of the peace talks in Switzerland, with critics alleging the Qataris snubbed Vance after Qatar's prime minister and chief negotiator, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, walked past Vance and warmly greeted Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instead.

"The U.S. delegation had just spent hours with the Qataris and there was no need to re-greet someone having just spent hours with," a U.S. official said. "The decision to give statements together before the meeting was done impromptu, which is why it wasn't a staged greeting."

Prospects of a peace agreement have already shown signs of life in the U.S., even without a final deal. The New York Times reported oil prices dipping on Monday amid expectations Vance would secure peace during the talks in Switzerland.

Critics of Vance have been vocal in the media about the vice president’s handling of the talks, echoing a sentiment among protesters that have been supporting the Islamic Republic of Iran since the onset of hostilities earlier this year. Some critics allege that Vance is surrendering to the Iranians and that the Iranians are getting more out of the peace deal than the U.S.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation, a self-declared pro-China communist group, communicated to its followers through its propaganda platform, "Liberation News," to "keep up the pressure" in combatting the war.

In 2017, Singham married a co-founder of CodePink, Jodie Evans, and started pouring a documented $278 million into a network of groups that fuel anti-American protests in the United States, support the People's Republic of China and now back the Islamic Republic of Iran, a strategic partner of China and a major source of its oil imports.

Despite the coordinated propaganda defending Iran, the administration has maintained its intention to rid Iran of nuclear capabilities. For more than three months, U.S.-Israeli forces have been fighting Iranian forces, a conflict which Americans have expressed concerns about.

Vance’s trip to Switzerland marks his second attempt to bring the conflict to an end. In April, he traveled to Islamabad, Pakistan, alongside Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Special Peace Envoy Jared Kushner to negotiate peace. The talks failed and Vance returned home, but he has remained a key figure in finalizing a ceasefire.

His involvement with the negotiations has also led to a surge in bettors placing wagers on the vice president winning the presidency in 2028.

Vice President JD Vance arrived in Switzerland this week as the Trump administration’s most visible defender of a fragile Iran memorandum of understanding, even as officials moved to tamp down reports of internal concern over whether Tehran can be trusted to follow through on nuclear concessions.

"If it doesn’t happen, I’m blaming JD Vance. If it does happen, I’m taking full credit," joked President Donald Trump this month of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Iran.

The MOU, signed last week, has not resolved the core dispute over Iran’s nuclear program, but instead opened a 60-day negotiating window aimed at turning broad commitments into enforceable terms — leaving Vance to defend a framework that supporters call a diplomatic opening for sustained stability in the region and skeptics fear could give Tehran room to stall.

While Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and CIA Director John Ratcliffe have been central to previous high-profile foreign policy missions, Vance spent last week as one of the administration’s chief public advocates for the Iran deal, repeatedly fielding questions about the negotiations during a media blitz for his new book.

A senior U.S. official told Fox News Digital earlier this month that there was a "split" inside the administration on support of the Iran MOU but wouldn't say which officials did not support the decision. The talks have been fragile for weeks, with the MOU serving less as a breakthrough than a temporary framework while U.S. officials continue to wrestle with whether Iran can be trusted to follow through on nuclear commitments.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe reportedly emerged as a key intelligence leader who expressed doubt about the intelligence behind the Iran deal to Trump and other senior officials, Axios reported. Rubio and Hegseth also reportedly held reservations, while Vance and other officials advocated for the MOU, according to the outlet.

The CIA did not comment when asked by Fox News Digital if Ratcliffe was skeptical about the deal.

A second senior U.S. official told Fox News Digital that Trump officials were all aligned in supporting the deal and viewed it as the appropriate path forward.

While a White House official added that Vance emerged as a lead negotiator because Trump tasked him with the role from the outset, arguing his position as vice president gives him the stature to bring key players from countries such as Qatar and Pakistan to the negotiating table.

When asked about the reports of an alleged "split," the White House fired back that the MOU meets all the previous requirements expressed by the administration and the president would only sign a "good deal."

"President Trump listens to all opinions on any given issue — but everyone understands he is the final decisionmaker," a White House official told Fox News Digital.

RUBIO, RATCLIFFE TO DELIVER CLASSIFIED IRAN BRIEFING TO 'GANG OF EIGHT' AHEAD OF TRUMP'S STATE OF THE UNION

While Ratcliffe has historically kept a more reserved role as CIA chief, Rubio and Hegseth have embraced the spotlight repeatedly during high-level missions, hosting press briefings and posting on social media – even sharing memes surrounding major policy wins.

Rubio has publicly backed the MOU, but his support has been noticeably more restrained than his advocacy for past foreign policy efforts. The secretary has reposted clips of the deal signing and Vance's media appearance discussing Iran, but has not directly made a statement. His latest post on X was congratulating Colombian President-Elect Abelardo De La Espriella on his victory.

Rubio was also part of the president’s delegation in France at the G7, seen standing behind him during Trump’s sideline presser on the deal. Rubio did not make any comments during the press conference.

Hegseth also has remained active on social media during the NATO summit, posting updates on alliance-related meetings and highlighting various War Department initiatives, while notably refraining from commenting directly on the Iran agreement.

His last public remarks directly addressing U.S.-Iran relations came more than a month ago on May 5 during a Pentagon briefing alongside Caine. Hegseth discussed Project Freedom, which was a strike against Iran's nuclear infrastructure – separate and distinct from Operation Epic Fury.

Since then, Hegseth's public appearances have focused largely on NATO and defense diplomacy, including bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts and engagements with leaders from Italy, Singapore, South Korea and Ecuador.

The framework has come under fire from conservatives and liberals alike who have drawn comparisons to former President Barack Obama’s JCPOA, a politically toxic benchmark for many Republicans that the president and Vance have rejected in public remarks.

During an appearance on Fox News' "The Five" last week, Vance argued the JCPOA comparison stems from a misconception because the proverbial carrot-and-stick positions from the Obama-era deal have been reversed.

The Pentagon doubled down on their backing of the Iranian deal when asked by Fox News Digital if there were any doubts.

"Of course, Secretary Hegseth supports the Peace Deal with Iran and all of President Trump’s objectives," Chief Pentagon Spokesperson Sean Parnell told Fox News Digital when asked if there was any friction about the Iran agreement.

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott offered Fox News Digital administration a similar statement backing the Iran deal.

"Secretary Rubio and the entire administration is 100% in lockstep behind President Trump. The President has taken unprecedented action to prevent the Iranian regime from obtaining a nuclear weapon, making the U.S. and the entire world safer," Pigott said.

Rubio is heading to the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain this week after Vance has been engaged in discussions with Iranian officials alongside Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff since Sunday.

Rubio, Hegseth and Ratcliffe have previously been at the center of some of the Trump administration’s most significant foreign policy engagements and achievements, from high-stakes talks with Vladimir Putin in Alaska to G7 summits and NATO conferences.

Vance’s absence from Trump’s January Mar-a-Lago announcement following the capture of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro drew notice at the time, particularly as Rubio, Hegseth, Ratcliffe, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine and senior adviser Stephen Miller appeared alongside the president for the administration’s victory-lap moment.

Vance stayed late into the night Sunday evening to push the deal to the finish line in an attempt to get nuclear inspections to start as soon as possible.

"It's funny, we were trying to call some of the inspectors last night around two in the morning. As you can expect, not many people are answering their phone at two in the morning," said Vance Monday.

"I expect that will happen at the minimum this week, but we think even some of those conversations with the inspectors and with the IAEA could happen as soon as today," Vance added.

CNN panelists praised Vice President JD Vance's recent media appearances and complimented his performance on "The View," saying his glow-up was "impressive."

Contributor Lulu Garcia-Navarro opened the discussion of Vance's media blitz during CNN's "The Arena Saturday" by pointing to the vice president's appearance as he promoted his new book and defended the Trump administration's Iran agreement.

"Can I just say, as an aside, the glow-up of JD Vance for this is pretty impressive. The tan, the trimness, the sharp suits. I just want to note, you know, he is presenting himself in a very glowed-up fashion," Garcia-Navarro said.

Former Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., said Vance displayed stamina during a week of high-profile media appearances.

Garcia-Navarro, who has interviewed Vance, said the vice president's effectiveness on television was familiar.

"He’s great in interviews. I’ve interviewed him, and he is great in interviews. He is an able communicator. He communicates on many levels. That is one of his strong suits," she said.

VANCE SPARS WITH LIBERAL CO-HOSTS OVER IMMIGRATION ON 'THE VIEW'

Jamal Simmons, former communications director for former Vice President Kamala Harris, said Vance deserved credit for appearing on ABC's "The View," where he faced tough questioning.

"I give him credit for going on 'The View,'" Simmons said. "This is foreign territory for him. And I don’t know that I would have advised that of most leaders, to go into what’s probably going to be a hostile environment."

The panel then watched a clip from "The View," where co-host Ana Navarro challenged Vance over Trump's remark that he loved "the inflation."

Vance said Trump meant he loved that inflation would fall when the war ended.

"What he said, Ana, what he said is that he loves the fact that the inflation is going to come down when this war is over. That's what he said," Vance said.

VANCE REJECTS 'THE VIEW' HOSTS CLAIMING 'BLACK HISTORY HAS BEEN ERASED' BY TRUMP ADMINISTRATION

Jonah Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Dispatch, broke from the CNN panel and accused Vance of relying on misleading arguments while defending President Donald Trump's agenda.

After host Pamela Brown asked whether Vance had successfully defended Trump, Goldberg rejected the praise.

"I'm going to dissent from all of you guys, from this JD Vance admiration society," Goldberg said.

Goldberg argued Vance's exchanges showed a broader flaw in his political style, saying the vice president was most effective when reframing his opponents' positions.

"That clip, dozens of other clips, demonstrate one of the biggest problems with JD Vance is that he's always good at winning an argument when he is fighting a straw man, when he's lying about the facts, when he is creating, when he's working on a false premise," Goldberg said.

Vance appeared on "The View" Tuesday while promoting his new memoir, "Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith," released on June 16. The appearance came during a media-heavy week in which Vance also defended Trump's memorandum of understanding with Iran.

Vice President JD Vance landed in Switzerland early Sunday to help launch a new round of negotiations with Iran, as the Trump administration pushes for a lasting agreement following a recently signed ceasefire.

Vance arrived shortly before 6 a.m. local time and is expected to join White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law, for the talks.

Swiss officials confirmed Saturday that the Iranian delegation had arrived and was traveling to Bürgenstock, where the discussions are expected to take place.

The talks were initially scheduled for Friday, but Switzerland's foreign ministry announced that planned negotiations involving the U.S., Iran, Qatar and Pakistan had been postponed.

ISRAEL–HEZBOLLAH CEASEFIRE BECOMES FIRST TEST OF TRUMP IRAN FRAMEWORK AFTER TALKS DELAY

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is also expected to participate in the talks, according to Axios.

The negotiations come days after Trump signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Iran following the G7 summit at the Palace of Versailles. The agreement established a 60-day ceasefire and outlined a framework for broader negotiations between the two countries aimed at ending the conflict.

In a Truth Social post Saturday, Trump warned that the United States could impose tolls in the Strait of Hormuz if negotiations fail to produce a lasting agreement before the ceasefire expires.

Before departing from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Vance said a successful trip would involve establishing the framework for future negotiations.

"The way that we're going to do this, we're going to have a principal level of political leadership at the top," he continued. "And then obviously the technical team is going to stay on the ground."

"Despite the headlines, things are actually getting better there," he said, while acknowledging that sporadic violence remains a challenge in the region.

Vice President JD Vance warned that the Democratic Party is surrendering to its "most radical fringes" after a wave of local victories by self-described progressive and socialist candidates.

Speaking on "Fox & Friends Weekend," Vance argued that Democrats learned the wrong lesson from their 2024 election loss.

"My genuine hope was that the lesson the Democrats learned from the 2024 election is maybe we should stop being so crazy," Vance said Saturday.

"And, unfortunately, the lesson that Democrats seem to have learned from the 2024 election is to lean into the most radical fringes of their party."

Last month, Maine progressive Graham Platner appeared alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., during a Fighting Oligarchy rally. Platner has since won the Democratic Senate nomination and will face Republican Sen. Susan Collins in November.

New York City's socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani also teamed up with Sanders for a get-out-the-vote event in Brooklyn this week. The two supported several socialist and progressive candidates ahead of Tuesday's New York primaries.

But Vance said the latest party shift has left many moderate Democrats in the dust.

"But I feel, unfortunately, that those patriotic blue-collar Democrats, they increasingly don't have a place in that party anymore, at least among the elected senior leadership ranks."

Vice President JD Vance pushed back Saturday on criticism that the deal signed between President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian would hand Tehran economic benefits without requiring meaningful changes in the terror-sponsoring nation's behavior.

In a morning interview on "Fox & Friends," Vance brushed aside concerns raised by Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Roger Wicker, R-Miss., and other Republicans who say Iran could eventually use the memorandum of understanding's economic incentives to rebuild its military and nuclear programs. The MOU is meant to serve as a framework for a long-term peace agreement.

"I like Roger, he's a friend of mine, but I think that he's wrong on this," Vance said. "What the MOU says is that if the Iranians behave over a long period of time, they could get some of the benefits of this bargain."

Critics on both sides of the aisle have charged that the agreement signed earlier this week misses key objectives for the United States, including the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities and enriched uranium stockpiles, limits on its ballistic missile program and a requirement that Tehran end its support for regional proxy groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis.

Wicker claimed the 60-day ceasefire agreement set forth in the MOU undermines the United States' victories in Operation Epic Fury "in ways that are completely out of step with the president’s goals."

"Specifically, the $300 billion fund for the reconstruction and economic development of Iran — though not funded by U.S. taxpayers — would make Iran’s payoff under President Obama’s 2015 deal look like a pittance by comparison," Wicker said in a statement.

Wicker argued that easing sanctions on Iran while requiring Israel to cease military action against Hezbollah is misguided, given the group's continued attacks on Israel's northern border and its backing from Tehran.

"The Iranian regime has not renounced its ultimate goal — ‘Death to America, Death to Israel,’" Wicker said. "The regime will invest every penny it receives to further that aim."

But Vance said critics have incorrectly assumed Iran would receive economic benefits regardless of its conduct. Sanctions relief and regional economic aid would only be considered after Iran demonstrates sustained compliance with the agreement and abandons efforts to advance its nuclear program, Vance said.

"The United States has all the cards," Vance said. "The [Strait of Hormuz is] now open, the Iranian military is now destroyed. The Iranians have committed to, of course, destroying that stockpile of the rich material, but we have a lot of economic pressure applied to the Iranians that we would be willing to relieve if they do what we need them to do."

Vance said the agreement is already delivering tangible results, citing the movement of 16 million barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz on Friday after the waterway reopened to commercial traffic. He said the administration is focused on ensuring Iran is permanently blocked from restoring its nuclear program.

"We're going to go after that enriched stockpile of uranium," Vance said. "We're going to try to reset the situation that we have, so that the Iranians don't just have a destroyed nuclear program now, but so that we can say with some confidence, through a combination of inspections and verification, that they're never going to be able to rebuild that program."

Vance also expressed confidence that a ceasefire between Iran and Israel would hold long enough for negotiations to continue. U.S. officials are preparing for talks involving Iranian, Qatari and Pakistani representatives, which could begin within days, according to Vance.

"There’s a fork in the road here," Vance said. "The United States wins either way, but I think that what ultimately happens from here is very much up to the Iranians."

In his book, the vice president points out that it is his wife who helps usher the children off to Sunday Mass even though she does not practice Catholicism.

"At a time when Hindu and Indian-American communities are confronting a climate of rising prejudice, talk of mass deportations, and growing anti-Hindu sentiment—even against members of his own party—it’s deeply disappointing that the Vice President would add to that climate through his recent comments while remaining silent in the face of hate," the congressman wrote on X.

Vance shared that their family life is still centered around faith no matter what faith it is.

Vice President JD Vance is pulling back the curtain back on President Donald Trump’s strict rules for Cabinet members, specifically the traditional dress code.

Speaking on the "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" podcast, Vance explained that Trump’s classic style rules — including a disdain for brown shoes — are rooted in the belief that public officials must honor the institutions they serve.

"The president has a certain sense that you ought to respect the place, you ought to respect the institution, respect the office. And one of the ways you do that is by dressing like a normal person," Vance said in the episode released Thursday. "And I think that's — it’s a very old-fashioned thing."

Vance noted he’s seen the president comment on the attire of other officials and even his own family members, including the "Zelensky moment." During a meeting in the Oval Office, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy was asked by a correspondent why he chose not to wear a suit.

At a follow-up White House meeting in August, Zelenskyy wore more formal attire than his usual military-style clothing. During that exchange, a reporter told Zelenskyy he looked "fabulous in that suit," before Trump added, "I said the same thing."

Vice President JD Vance spoke candidly with The New York Times’ Ross Douthat this week about how pro-Israel factions are criticizing the Iran deal with the U.S., saying at one point Israel couldn't "kill" its way out of its problems.

"You've seen people in their system — [Itamar] Ben-Gvir and [Bezalel] Smotrich — who've attacked the deal. And I guess my response to them would be: What is your exact proposal? You're a country of 9 million people," he said in the interview posted Thursday. "You can't just kill your way out of solving every single national security problem that you have."

The U.S. and the Iranian regime have crafted a new Memorandum of Understanding to re-open the Strait of Hormuz and address the Islamic regime’s nuclear program. Critics say the arrangement echoes the Obama-era Iran nuclear deal — which President Donald Trump has long derided — by granting Tehran economic concessions before securing permanent restrictions, while supporters argue it is the most practical way to prevent a wider Middle East war and a potentially devastating shock to the global economy.

"I don’t think this deal is popular in Israel right now. I don’t think you’re an especially popular figure in Israel today," Douthat said, asking whether he agrees with the growing perception that there is a misalignment between the interests of the U.S. and Israel.

He clarified that while he believes this deal is the best possible scenario for the world at large, "Fundamentally, we're worried about what's in the best interest of the American people. And to the extent that — and I think the president has shown this — where he sees misalignment between the goals of the political system in Israel and the goals of the American people, he's willing to say that we're going to pursue America's interests where there are divergences."

Vance went on to note that while he has not seen Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticize the deal, other Israelis have been quite vocal.

Vance made a reference to Ben-Gvir, the Israeli National Security Minister, who said in a recent controversial X post in response to the killing of four Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah, "With all due respect to the Americans, Israel must make it clear to the entire world that the blood of our sons and the security of our citizens are not forfeit. All of Lebanon must burn. Our supreme duty is to protect the citizens of Israel and the soldiers of the IDF, and this commitment takes precedence over every other consideration."

Vance's remarks to Douthat come as he warned Israeli officials against "attacking the only powerful ally that I have left anywhere in the entire world" while speaking at the White House this week.

"We're in the business of solving real problems, not solving abstract problems, and so, if your view is that opening the Straits, getting them to commit to the destruction of the enriched uranium, and any other number of potential benefits that will come along with this deal — it's not just whether this is good or bad, it's, ‘What is the alternative?’ ‘What do you want to do?’" Vance asked.

"If your proposal is to send 200,000 ground troops into Tehran so that you can make Reza Pahlavi the leader of that country, then say that," he said. "But I don't appreciate criticism without alternatives."

"It’s like with JD. He was here the other day," Behar said as the panel looked back on the interview with Vance. "I respect the office. I believe in reaching across the aisle. I do."

Moments later, co-host Sunny Hostin asked, "But I want to know, why were you so in love with JD Vance?"

"I wasn’t in love. I’m not in love with him, and I’m not in love with this administration," Behar replied.

"I learned under Barbara Walters," Behar said, as she and Hostin both spoke about the late creator and founder of "The View."

Hostin remembered that when she first came on the show as a guest co-host years ago, Walters had advised, "When someone comes to your house, you treat them well. She did tell me that."

In a video for Politicon, Carville rejected claims he was making the forecast to gain attention.

"People said, ‘Oh, that’s very clever. You got a lot of pickup. You know, you like to say kinda crazy a-- things,’" Carville said. "I want to be very clear on something. I’m not doing this as a crazy a-- prediction. I’m doing that because I genuinely think that he will resign next spring."

In a statement to Fox News Digital, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle condemned Carville's prediction.

"James Carville is a stone-cold loser who suffers from a severe and incurable disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, and it has rotted his peanut-sized brain," Ingle said.

Republicans aren’t taking President Donald Trump's deal with Iran well.

While Congress has still not received the actual memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by Trump and Iranian officials, lawmakers have seen the reports circulating in the media.

And one of the top Republicans in the Senate warned that while he supported the war’s initial objectives, he feared that the current agreement would undermine those same objectives.

Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Roger Wicker, R-Miss., shredded the MOU in a statement Thursday in which he cautioned that the agreement "negotiates away the victories of Operation Epic Fury in ways that are completely out of step with the president's goals."

"Specifically, the $300 billion fund for the reconstruction and economic development of Iran — though not funded by U.S. taxpayers — would make Iran's payoff under President Obama's 2015 deal look like a pittance by comparison," Wicker said.

The proposed $300 billion fund has given Republicans heartburn as details have emerged in recent days, with some comparing it to the billions that flowed to Iran under former President Joe Biden.

The agreement stipulates that the U.S. would coordinate with regional partners to develop the fund, which would be finalized as part of the 60-day deal.

Wicker also took issue with lifting sanctions on Iran and forcing Israel to stand down against Hezbollah, "an Iranian-backed terrorist organization that continues to attack Israel on its northern border."

"The Iranian regime has not renounced its ultimate goal — ‘Death to America, Death to Israel,’" Wicker said. "The regime will invest every penny it receives to further that aim.

"President Trump has pursued peace through strength," he continued. "I hope the intermediaries working on this deal are not undermining that objective."

Wicker isn’t alone in his fear that Iran will turn around and use the funds for nefarious efforts.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, warned that "giving billions of dollars to theocratic lunatics who want to murder us is an exceptionally bad idea."

Cruz compared the fund to billions shipped to Iran under the Biden administration, which he charged was the "most catastrophic foreign policy" decision made during the prior administration, adding that the "money funded terrorism across the globe in a very real sense."

"If we give billions of dollars to Iran, that money will be used to murder Americans," he said. "And so I don't believe we should do that. And the idea that we would have effectively a Marshall Plan for Iran and come in and rebuild Iran after they've been the leading state sponsor of terrorism for 47 years — they've murdered nearly a thousand Americans — I don't think that makes any sense."

Vice President JD Vance, who has become the public face of the deal, defended the fund during a press briefing at the White House on Thursday, contending that the only way Iran could access that funding, which he vowed was not coming from taxpayers, was "if they comply fully and change their behavior."

Navarro said during her show, "Bleep! with Ana Navarro," that Goldberg was annoyed with her as she tried to press Vance on something else before Goldberg, who moderates "The View," broke for commercial.

"I also want to say there was like a tense moment between Whoopi and I where I wanted to get in a question," Navarro said. "I wanted to get him — as we were talking about the racism of this administration precisely on that topic — I wanted to get him to answer whether Michelle Obama being called a man by a UFC fighter at the White House Sunday night is something that he, JD Vance, would condemn.

"We were running out of time," she continued. "Whoopi was annoyed that I was trying to push him on that as we were trying to wrap and get to commercial break. These things happen on live TV."

"What exactly are you talking about?" Vance said, asking for "her actual point."

They both then began to speak over each other as Vance asked for specific examples.

Goldberg did not provide context for what "Emmett Till stuff" was, but she may have been referring to monuments like the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument, sites designated as national monuments by former President Joe Biden, which may be at risk amid the Trump administration’s DEI budget cuts. Emmett Till was a Black youth who was lynched at age 14 in Mississippi in 1955.

Vice President JD Vance admitted his controversial "childless cat ladies" comment was "dumb" phrasing that distracted from his message to American families.

Speaking on the "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" podcast, Vance revealed the impact the insult had and the message he was actually trying to convey with it.

"I mean, it was dumb, because it offended so many people they didn't actually listen to the point," Vance said.

"The point that I was making is like, when a politician, a political leader, when a media figure speaks, you're trying to illuminate and trying to make people think. It pissed so many people off that it turned off the thinking part of their brain," he added.

At the time, the comments sparked fierce backlash from liberal women, including Taylor Swift, who later endorsed Harris for president as a self-described "Childless Cat Lady."

The vice president also referenced mask mandates for young children during the COVID-19 pandemic, which were still prevalent at the time he made the original comment.

"Why did we keep on masking toddlers? Like, I'm not saying two months into it. A year and a half into the pandemic, when we knew it was affecting their developmental, their learning, their language. Why do we do it?" Vance asked. "Because we didn't have the perspective of young parents in our country's leadership."

Vice President JD Vance is pushing back on comparisons between the emerging Trump-Vance Iran pact and claims that the agreement, released Wednesday, bears too much resemblance to President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal.

Critics pointed to Vance’s defense of the memorandum of understanding to reopen the Strait of Hormuz — the details of which were released by the administration — under which Iran would receive economic benefits only after complying with nuclear restrictions. They argue that dynamic mirrors how Obama promoted the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA, which Trump and Vance have long reviled.

Vance, however, suggested to Fox News that the comparison stems from a misconception because the proverbial carrot-and-stick positions from the Obama deal have been reversed.

"You’ve got Iranian propagandists out there saying, well, ‘we get all these things’, and they leave out the fact that they only get those things if they fundamentally transform themselves as a country," he said, adding that the deal could open the door to economic cooperation for Tehran throughout the Mideast if it complies.

"So the United States wins either way. As the president said, either they get nothing, we destroy their nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz [is] open, or they fundamentally transformed themselves. And that's a big one too. It's really up to them," he said on "The Five."

Host Jesse Watters agreed that the deal is the "exact opposite" of what Obama and former Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., forged a decade ago.

"If they fund the proxies they don’t get the economic benefits, and the missiles are covered because 85% of them have been destroyed and 90% of their industrial base has been destroyed."

"They've been disarmed. They can't re-arm because they can manufacture more weapons and now they can really project power outside of their borders because they have no Air Force and they have no Navy and they don't pose an imminent threat to the United States anymore," Watters said, further arguing that the Iranians cannot enrich uranium because the only force capable of recovering the uranium "dust" is the U.S.

In a July 2015 statement defending the JCPOA, Obama used language similar to that now being used by Trump administration officials.

"[W]e give nothing up by testing whether or not this problem can be solved peacefully. If, in a worst-case scenario, Iran violates the deal, the same options that are available to me today will be available to any U.S. president in the future. And I have no doubt that 10 or 15 years from now, the person who holds this office will be in a far stronger position," a White House statement read.

Obama also argued a future president would be "in a far stronger position" if Iran violated the agreement years later because inspections and transparency measures would allow the U.S. to monitor Tehran's nuclear stockpiles.

Vance, however, noted there are few such stockpiles left after the Trump administration ordered strikes months ago.

Like the current administration, Obama sought to blunt criticism, warning in an August 2015 speech that ads will run and "accompanying commentary" will try to undermine the deal.

"Iran has powerful incentives to keep its commitments," he said in a line similar to arguments Vance has made in Fox News interviews.

"Before getting sanctions relief, Iran has to take significant, concrete steps like removing centrifuges and getting rid of its stockpiles. If Iran violates the agreement over the next decade, all of the sanctions can snap back into place," Obama said.

"On the other hand, if Iran abides by the deal and its economy begins to reintegrate with the world, the incentive to avoid snapback will only grow," Obama said in another line that echoed arguments now being made by administration officials.

Some critics, however, remained skeptical as of Wednesday, noting that Trump spent years attacking the JCPOA, arguing it provided economic relief in exchange for insufficient concessions.

Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., a Trump critic and former astronaut, suggested the deal resembled something candidate Trump would have lambasted.

"I did read what was reported on those 14 points [of the agreement] and I got to say, I mean, if this was something that President Obama or Biden had put forward, I don't think Donald Trump would have been too supportive of it, right?" Kelly said.

"I mean, it gives everything: It's basically everything that the Iranians would want," he warned.

IRANIAN REGIME CRITIC WARNS TRUMP DEAL COULD BE 'LIFELINE' FOR REGIME, CLAIMS PEOPLE ARE 'NERVOUS'

Iranian security expert Behnam Ben Taleblu told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview Wednesday that some, however, will take pause at the Trump-Vance deal

"The administration is focusing very much on this not being American money, whether one is looking at the reconstruction or the ability of the regime to later on generate revenue through oil sales. But worryingly, any deal with the Islamic Republic is a deal with the devil," said Taleblu, who leads the Iran program at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies — a nonpartisan national security and foreign policy research institute in Washington.

"When Trump left the Iran deal in 2018, he didn't leave it because of violation, he left it because that which the U.S. got was not worth that which the U.S. gave — meaning the nuclear concessions the U.S. got was not worth the sanctions relief the U.S. gave," Taleblu said.

4TH ROUND OF US-IRAN TALKS ENDS AS TRUMP SET TO EMBARK ON HISTORIC MIDDLE EAST TOUR

The best way for the administration to secure a narrative "win," according to Taleblu, would be to fully release the text of the deal to present a true comparison with both the JCPOA and the less-remembered 2013 JPA, which was also forged by Obama.

Taleblu said the JPA is a better comparison to reports about the Trump deal. That pact was smaller in scope and set the stage for Obama and Kerry to negotiate the larger 2015 deal. In the current deal, Taleblu said, there is a similar 60-day window for Iran to comply.

"They have to show that that which they got is worth more than that which they gave. And based on leaks of the [pending deal] in Bloomberg and CNN and Al-Arabiya, it's not looking good," he said.

Another headwind facing the administration is the American public’s limited tolerance for economic repercussions, such as rising gas and commodity prices or occasional downturns in the Nasdaq.

"This is not just political it's cultural and social which means the administration has to do a better job bringing the public along," he said.

Taleblu said Iran has been warring with the U.S. since 1979 and that there needs to be more effective "political communications" about that fact to secure public buy-in.

He also warned that while the effects of a war with Iran on the U.S. may strain the public, they would be dwarfed by the economic fallout from a future conflict with a more complicated adversary: China.

The memorandum of understanding lays out immediate waivers for Iranian oil exports, as well as a framework for $300 billion in economic development.

An official, however, emphasized to Fox News Digital that oil waivers were the only major benefit Tehran would realize before any final agreement is reached after a 60-day window.

In a reporter call, officials underlined that negotiations would promptly end if it was discovered Iran was "just dragging us along and kind of bull------- us," and that they remained skeptical of Iran’s intentions.

"You told him during the break that he should run for president because he has a good vibe," executive producer Brian Teta said during the show's "Behind the Table" podcast while speaking to Behar.

"I think that, even though, for a Republican. Mind you, I'm not a Republican," Behar confirmed.

Vance appeared on the show to discuss his new book, "Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith," and was pressed on various topics, including Jeffrey Epstein, immigration, the economy and more.

"I think possibly, I voted for Michael Bloomberg once for mayor who was supposed --- Bloomberg supposedly was a Republican," Behar continued. "They care about the poor. They help people," she added. "The Republican Party is much more about saving taxes for rich people. So, I'm not a Republican."

Behar, who regularly criticizes the Trump administration and Republicans on the show, also told Vance he was "fine" during a commercial break on the show on Tuesday.

Vance brought it up upon returning from commercial and said, "Joy said when we were off air that I’m 'fine,' which I think is about the best endorsement I’m gonna get out of Joy Behar."

Behar responded, "For a Republican."

Behar floated Vance facing off in 2028 against California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Vance sparred with the co-hosts over the economy, immigration and Black history, which co-host Sunny Hostin repeatedly insisted had been erased by the administration.

He wasn't on the ballot, but President Donald Trump is a winner in the Republican Senate runoff election in Alabama, as the candidate he endorsed captured the GOP nomination.

Trump-backed Rep. Barry Moore defeated rival Jared Hudson, a former Navy SEAL sniper, in Tuesday's Republican showdown for the GOP nomination in solidly red Alabama, the Associated Press reports.

Moore and Hudson were the top two finishers in last month's Republican primary, but with no candidate topping 50% of the vote, they both advanced to the runoff.

While speaking at the roundtable, Vance fielded questions regarding his controversial 2021 comment, in which he said that "we're effectively run in this country via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs, by a bunch of childless cat ladies."

Co-host Joy Behar resurfaced the viral comments, saying, "Mr. Vice President, you make a mea culpa of sorts for calling Democrats ‘childless cat ladies.’"

"Oh man, my most boneheaded comment," Vance replied.

Earlier in the exchange, Vance noted that Behar actually seemed to compliment him during a commercial break, revealing, "So Joy said when we were off-air that I'm ‘fine,’ which I think is the best endorsement I'm going to get out of Joy Behar."

"Well, for a Republican, for a Republican," Behar joked.

Vance quipped, "Well, thank you, I appreciate that. Graded on a curve here at ‘The View,’" which actually prompted chuckles from the liberal co-hosts.

Speaking with Fox News Digital ahead of his appearance on "The View," Vance said he was hopeful that his conversation with the hosts would be a productive exchange that allowed for different viewpoints.

"We're going to go and try to have a good conversation. I hope they meet me halfway. I'm a little skeptical, but we'll see," he added.

Vance rejects 'The View' hosts claiming 'Black history has been erased' by Trump administration

Co-hosts of "The View" claimed Black history is being dismantled as they interviewed Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday, but struggled to name specific examples, leaving Vance unconvinced.

After having been criticized by the show for years, Vance had a measured but tense interview with the co-hosts of "The View" that ranged from debates about immigration enforcement to the release of the Epstein files. One major hot topic, however, was the hosts claiming that the Trump administration and conservatives are dismantling Black history.

"What did Black people do to this administration that has allowed it to really stigmatize folks of color? And you know how hard it is. You have folks of color in your family," co-host Whoopi Goldberg said. "So when you… see, you know, things, the Emmett Till stuff coming down, or them doing all kinds of removal of information of Black heroes, how do you — how does that sit with you?"

"What exactly are you talking about?" Vance asked, asking for "her actual point."

They both then began to speak over each other as Vance asked for specific examples.

Goldberg did not provide context for what "Emmett Till stuff" was, but she may have been referring to monuments like the Emmett Till and the Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument, sites designated as national monuments by former President Joe Biden, which may be at risk amid the Trump administration’s DEI budget cuts. Emmett Till was a Black youth who was lynched at age 14 in Mississippi in 1955.

"How do you — I mean, you know better," Goldberg said as her audience applauded.

"I think the story you are talking about is where, you know, allegedly the administration is holding back the appointments of people based on skin color," Vance suggested.

Co-host Sunny Hostin replied that she is talking about a host of things, such as: "Black history getting erased from public spaces, Black voter districts are being dismantled, Black leaders are being sidelined from our ranks. Where do Americans of color fit in this vision? Because it doesn’t seem like we fit."

Co-host Ana Navarro added that the overwhelming majority of refugees that Trump has allowed into the country since October have been White South Africans.

"First of all, I’m very skeptical of that number, because we have a lot of immigration pathways in the United States of America," he responded, touting that he believed in uniting America as a big coalition, including those who did not vote for him and Trump.

As an example of how the administration is pursuing policies that help people of all races, he spoke about the anti-crime crackdown in Washington, D.C.

"Look at Washington, D.C. One of the most democratic and one of the Blackest by share of population, Blackest cities… has seen a radical decrease in violent crimes and sexual assaults and in murders," he said. "We have tried to take the crime issue seriously, in part because we believe everybody – whether you are Black or White or rich or poor – deserves to live in a safe neighborhood."

Goldberg rejected this answer, saying she is not asking about crime, but about "human rights."

"Black history has been erased from public spaces," Hostin said.

"Black history is not erased from public spaces," Vance replied.

"That is true!" Hostin argued.

"That is not right," Vance said. "I’m telling you, we celebrate Black history, we celebrate all American history in this administration. You guys might be skeptical of this, but I promise you it's true.

Vance spars with liberal co-hosts over immigration on 'The View'

Vice President JD Vance joined the women of "The View" on Tuesday and got into it with the co-hosts about immigration, sparring with Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin and taking a shot at the media.

Vance faced questioning on immigration, as well as questions about previous negative statements and assumptions he made about President Donald Trump years ago.

"You talk about moral tradeoffs that result in favoring a strict migration policy without dehumanizing anyone," Navarro said to Vance. "But listen, over 50 people have died in ICE custody. There are thousands of children — 6,200 — that are being held in places like Dilley Detention Center. The people that have visited — I don’t know if you have visited — talk about the subhuman, inhuman conditions, lack of clean water, the lack of medical attention, the lack of education. I would urge you, as a Christian and as a father, to visit those detention centers where the children are being held and make sure that the conditions are up to the values that we hold in this country."

"We have to strike a balance between enforcing laws," Vance said. "We don’t want to dehumanize people. Law enforcement is always inherently not a pretty process. Especially when you deal, sometimes with violent people, with people who are resisting arrest. Some of the people that I have been told by the media were completely peaceful, never violated any laws, you look into the record and find out that those people were actually being violent, or they did have a criminal record. They had a sex traffic conviction."

Hostin pushed back, arguing a majority of people being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were not criminals and accusing ICE of separating families and using "children as bait."

"You talk about the children," Vance responded. "Here is what I would say. We know that, during the last administration, we had tens of thousands of children who were sex-trafficked by cartels, brought into our country in profoundly dangerous and predatory conditions."

Hostin insisted they talk about the Trump administration.

"Unless you enforce the border, you invite that kind of conduct," Vance continued. "You think it’s inhuman based on the reporting of one person with a political bias, what I’m telling you is that it’s inhumane to allow cartels to sex traffic people across the border."

Navarro argued it wasn't just one person reporting it but conceded that the administration did a "good job closing the border," and Vance thanked her.

"We're going to get you back Ana," he quipped, as the co-host smirked. Navarro was a Republican prior to Trump's rise to the presidency in 2016. She has since been a vocal supporter of Democrats.

Vance previewed what he hoped to get out of the interview in an interview with Fox News Digital on Tuesday.

Asked how he was preparing for the interview, the vice president said he was approaching it as an opportunity for an earnest conversation, even with people whose views differ from his own.

"My job as vice president of the United States is not just to talk to the people who voted for me, it's to talk to the people who didn't vote for me too," said Vance.

Vance warns left-wing political rhetoric fueling violence after FBI foils alleged White House UFC terror plot

Vice President JD Vance called out left-wing violence and urged Americans to "tone down" political vitriol during a "Fox & Friends" appearance Tuesday, reacting to a foiled multi-stage terror plot intended to target the White House UFC Freedom 250 event over the weekend.

"This is very dark stuff," he said.

"Unfortunately… this is what happens when people turn the rhetoric up so loud that disagreeing with somebody is a cause for violence. That's the place that we've come to, unfortunately, with too much of our political rhetoric."

Vance, who attended the UFC 250 event, emphasized rhetoric from Democrats, particularly those serving in Washington.

"We've got to tell everybody to tone it down, and I hate to say this, but it's true... you see more political violence and violent rhetoric coming from the left than the right these days. Everybody has a role to cut this stuff out, but I think a lot of my Democratic colleagues in Washington have got to look themselves in the mirror and say, 'Why is so much of this political violence coming from our side of the spectrum?' Maybe they can do something different."

Officials told Fox News Digital that the FBI and its law enforcement partners disrupted an alleged plot to use explosive-laden drones to hit buildings near the event, force a mass evacuation and steer crowds toward a pre-staged sniper team.

A "second wave" was then allegedly planned to storm the White House gate, according to officials.

Vance thanked God that authorities were ultimately able to thwart the alleged attack and prevent what he called a "terrible tragedy."

"It goes to show why we have so much appreciation for the guys who keep us safe and for federal law enforcement, because these are the types of attacks that they're preventing every single day," he said.

The vice president also declined to entertain speculation about 2028, including discussions that he or Secretary of State Marco Rubio could lead the Republican ticket.

"We're all focused on the job in front of us," he said with a smile, reacting to President Trump's suggestion that a Vance-Rubio ticket would be "very unbeatable."

"I think the president loves to stir the pot a little bit... but, fundamentally, I think Marco, me, the entire Cabinet, we're just focused on doing a good job," Vance continued.
